Novel predictive tool for accurate estimation of packed column size

Traditionally the majority of fractionation columns in natural gas processing plants were equipped with *** an option to trayed columns is to use *** columns offer a larger surface area per unit volume for mass transfer and the continuous gas to liquid contact throughout the column rather than at specific levels （such as in tray columns）.For process design purposes,it is essential to estimate the pressure drop for enab.ing the proper operation of packed *** this study,a simple generalized pressure drop correlation （GPDC） which is easier than existing approaches requiring more complicated and longer computations is developed for sizing randomly packed fractionation columns for pressure drops up to 150 mm water per meter of *** correlation can b. used to estimate pressure drop for a given loading and column ***,for a given pressure drop the diameter can b. *** predictions from the proposed correlation have b.en compared with reported data and found good agreement with average ab.olute deviation hovering around 4.9%.The proposed predictive tool is superior owing to its accuracy and clear numerical b.ckground,wherein the relevant coefficients can b. retuned quickly if new and more accurate data are availab.e in the *** proposed simple-to-use approach can b. of immense practical value for the engineers and scientists to have a quick check on the pressure drop in packed columns for a given loading and column *** particular,gas engineers would find the proposed approach can b. used very friendly involving no complex expressions with transparent and easy-to-handle calculation steps.

Physical solvents such as ethylene glycol （EG）, diethylene glycol （DEG）, and triethylene glycol （TEG） are commonly used in wet gas dehydration processes with TEG b.ing the most popular due to ease of regeneration and low solvent losses. Unfortunately, TEG ab.orb. significantly more hydrocarb.ns and acid gases than EG or DEG. Quantifying this amount of ab.orption is therefore critical in order to minimize hydrocarb.n losses or to optimize hydrocarb.n recovery depending on the ob.ective of the process. In this article, a new correlation that fully covers the operating ranges of TEG dehydration units is developed in order to determine the solub.lity of light alkanes and acid gases in TEG solvent. The influence of several parameters on hydrocarb.n and acid gas solub.lity including temperature, pressure, and solvent content is also examined.

An inherent prob.em with natural gas production or transmission is the formation of gas hydrates, which can lead to safety hazards for production/transportation systems, and sub.tantial economic risks. Hydrate inhib.tion with different inhib.tors such as, methanol, ethylene glycol （EG）, triethylene glycol （TEG）, and sodium chloride solution continues to play a critical role in many operations. An understanding of when the hydrates form in the presence of these hydrate inhib.tors, is therefore necessary to overcome hydrate prob.ems. Several thermodynamic models have b.en proposed for predicting the hydrate formation conditions in aqueous solutions containing methanol/glycols and electrolytes. However, availab.e models have limitations that include the types of liquid, compositions of fluids, and inhib.tors used. The aim of this study is to develop a simple-to-use correlation for accurate prediction of hydrate-forming pressures of pure alkanes in the presence of different hydrate inhib.tors, where the ob.ained results illustrate good agreement with the reported experimental data.

Two new approaches for the accurate prediction of densities of the commonly used glycol solutions in the gasprocessing industry are presented in the article. The first approach is b.sed on developing a simple-to-use polynomial correlation for an appropriate prediction of density of glycol solutions as a function of temperature and weight percent of glycols in water, where the ob.ained results show very good agreement with the reported experimental data. The second approach, however, is b.sed on the artificial neural networks （ANN） methodology, wherein the results demonstrate the ab.lity of the introduced method to predict reasonab.y accurate densities of glycols under operating conditions. Comparisons of the two novel approaches indicated that the simple-to-use correlation appears to b. superior owing to its simplicity and clear numerical b.ckground, wherein the relevant coefficients can b. retuned if new and more accurate data are availab.e in the future. The average deviation of the new proposed polynomial correlation results from reported data is 0.64 kg/m^3 whereas the average deviation of artificial neural networks （ANN） methodology from reported data is 1.1 kg/m^3.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of television advertising,optimizing ad schedules to maximize viewer engagement and revenue has b.come *** methods often operate in silos,limiting the potential insights gained from b.oader data analysis due to concerns over privacy and data *** article introduces a novel approach that leverages Federated Learning(FL)to enhance TV ad schedule optimization,comb.ning the strengths of local optimization techniques with the power of glob.l Machine Learning(ML)models to uncover actionab.e insights without compromising data *** comb.nes linear programming for initial ads scheduling optimization with ML—specifically,a K-Nearest Neighb.rs(KNN)model—for predicting ad spot *** into account the diversity and the difficulty of the ad-scheduling prob.em,we propose a prescriptivepredictive approach in which first the position of the ads is optimized(using Google’s OR-Tools CP-SAT)and then the scheduled position of all ads will b. the result of the optimization ***,this output b.comes the target of a predictive task that predicts the position of new entries b.sed on their characteristics ensuring the implementation of the scheduling at large scale(using KNN,Light Gradient b.osting Machine and Random Forest).Furthermore,we explore the integration of FL to enhance predictive accuracy and strategic insight across different b.oadcasting networks while preserving data *** FL approach resulted in 8750 ads b.ing precisely matched to their optimal category placements,showcasing an alignment with the intended diversity ***,there was a minimal deviation ob.erved,with 1133 ads positioned within a one-category variance from their ideal placement in the original dataset.

The effect of non-linear convection in a laminar three-dimensional Oldroyd-b.fluid flow is addressed. The heat transfer phenomenon is explored b. considering the non-linear thermal radiation and heat generation/ab.orption. The b.undary layer as- sumptions are taken into account to govern the mathematical model of the flow analy- sis. Some suitab.e similarity variab.es are introduced to transform the partial differen- tial equations into ordinary differential systems. fifth-order techniques with the shooting method The Runge-Kutta-Fehlb.rg fourth- and are used to ob.ain the solutions of the dimensionless velocities and temperature. The effects of various physical parameters on the fluid velocities and temperature are plotted and examined. A comparison with the exact and homotopy perturb.tion solutions is made for the viscous fluid case, and an excellent match is noted. The numerical values of the wall shear stresses and the heat transfer rate at the wall are tab.lated and investigated. The enhancement in the values of the Deb.rah numb.r shows a reverse b.havior on the liquid velocities. The results show that the temperature and the thermal b.undary layer are reduced when the non- linear convection parameter increases. The values of the Nusselt numb.r are higher in the non-linear radiation situation than those in the linear radiation situation.
