Synthesis of Schiff bases of naphtha[1,2-d]thiazol-2-amine and metal complexes of 2-(2'-hydroxy)benzylideneaminonaphthothiazole as potential antimicrobial agents

Objective： A series of 2-benzylideneaminonaphthothiazoles were designed and synthesized incorporating the lipophilic naphthalene ring to render them more capable of penetrating various biomembranes. Methods： Schiff bases were synthesized by the reaction of naphtha[1,2-d]thiazol-2-amine with various substituted aromatic aldehydes. 2-（2＇-Hydroxy）ben- zylideneaminonaphthothiazole was converted to its Co（Ⅱ）, Ni（Ⅱ） and Cu（Ⅱ） metal complexes upon treatment with metal salts in ethanol. All the compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial activities by paper disc diffusion method with Gram positive Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis and Gram negative Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of all the Schiff bases and metal complexes were determined by agar streak dilution method. Results： All the compounds moderately inhibited the growth of Cram positive and Gram negative bacteria. In the present study among all Schiff bases 2-（2＇-hydroxy）benzylideneaminonaphthothiazole showed maximum inhibitory activity and among metal complexes Cu（Ⅱ） metal complex was found to be most potent. Conclusion： The results obtained validate the hypothesis that Schiff bases having substitution with halogens, hydroxyl group and nitro group at phenyl ring are required for the antibacterial activity while methoxy group at different positions in the aromatic ring has minimal role in the inhibitory activity. The results also indicated that the metal complexes are better antibacterial agents as compared to the Schiff bases.

Clinical effectiveness of the various approaches for infertility treatment in women with PCOS and hyperprolactinemia

【Objective】To evaluate the clinical efficiency of different treatments cancellation and infertility in women with PCOS and hyperprolactinemia.【Method】We performed retrospective analysis of 502consecutive case histories during 5 years of reproductive results of treatment of women is with anovulatory infertility,caused by different *** of the study was to determine the efficiency of conservative and surgical treatment.【Result】Differentiated application of conservative medical therapy allows to attain the effect of proceeding in a fertile function in 33,8%of *** is found that surgical induction of ovulation by ovarian laparoscopic partial degradation is an option in the management of female infertility associated with PCOS,especially as a second-line treatment after the failure of clomiphene citrate treatment,enhancing the efficiency of complex infertility treatment to 40%.【Conclusions】It is feasible to develop an algorithm differentiated use of infertility treatments in women with PCOS and hyperprolactinemia.

Co-exposure of sulfur nanoparticles and Cu alleviate Cu stress and toxicity to oilseed rape Brassica napus L.

Experimentswere performed to explore the impact of sulfur nanoparticles(SNPs)on growth,Cu accumulation,and physiological and biochemical responses of oilseed rape(Brassica napus L.)inoculated with 5 mg/L Cu-amended MS medium supplemented with or without 300 mg/L SNPs *** exerted severe phytotoxicity and inhibited plant *** application enhanced the shoot height,root length,and dry weight of shoot and root by 34.6%,282%,41.7%and 37.1%,respectively,over Cu treatment alone,while the shoot and root Cu contents and Cu-induced lipid perodixation as the malondialdehyde(MDA)levels in shoots and roots were decreased by 37.6%,35%,28.4%and 26.8%.Further,the increases in superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),glutathione reductase(GR)and glutathione S-transferase(GST)enzyme activities caused by Cu stress were mitigated in shoots(10.9%–37.1%)and roots(14.6%–35.3%)with SNPs *** also positively counteracted the negative effects on shoot K,Ca,P,Mg,Mn,Zn and Fe contents and root K,Ca,Mg and Mn contents from Cu exposure alone,and significantly promoted the nutrients accumulation in ***,in comparison with common bulk sulfur particles(BSPs)and sulfate,SNPs showed more positive effects on promoting growth in shoots(6.7%and 19.5%)and roots(10.9%and 15.1%),as well as lowering the shoot Cu content(40.1%and 43.3%)under Cu ***,SNPs application has potential to be a green and sustainable technology for increasing plant productivity and reducing accumulation of toxic metals in heavy metal polluted soils.

In this study,comprehensive evaluation of the technologies on waste heat recovery technologies for maritime applications has been carried *** have focused our research on exhaust gas turbine system(EGT),thermodynamic organic rankine cycle(RC),Kalina cycle(KC)and thermoelectric generators(TG),which are the most appropriate and most up-to-date techniques for recovering power from marine *** technology has its own advantages and disadvantages,so the comprehensive evaluation of these technologies is essential to accurately determine which technology will be applied to which *** belongs to the multi-criteria decision(MCDM)*** combined assessment methodology,consisting of gray correlation and analysis hierarchy processes,has been applied to evaluate four waste heat recovery techniques in terms of technical,economic,social and environmental *** to the comparison results,the exhaust gas turbine system has been evaluated as the most promising technology among the various WHR technologies that can be applied to marine *** analysis suggests that if investment cost of TG falls to about the same level as the one of EGT,TG could be the best method among these *** of investment cost of TG technology could be realized by development of low cost thermoelectric *** have analyzed the correlation between each cost through DOE analysis and investigate the effect of individual costs on the total *** work helps in identifying the most suitable heat recovery technologies for marine engine.

A new stable numerical method,based on Chebyshev wavelets for numerical evaluation of Hankel transform,is proposed in this *** Chebyshev wavelets are used as a basis to expand a part of the integrand,r f(r),appearing in the Hankel transform *** transforms the Hankel transform integral into a Fourier-Bessel *** truncating the series,an efficient and stable algorithm is obtained for the numerical evaluations of the Hankel transforms of order ν>−*** method is quite accurate and stable,as illustrated by given numerical examples with varying degree of random noise terms εθ_(i) added to the data function f(r),where θ_(i) is a uniform random variable with values in[−1,1].Finally,an application of the proposed method is given for solving the heat equation in an infinite cylinder with a radiation condition.

Effect of potassium on soil conservation and productivity of maize/cowpea based crop rotations in the north-west Indian Himalayas

Plots under conservation tillage may require higher amount of potassium(K) application for augmenting productivity due to its stratification in upper soil layers, thereby reducing K supplying capacity in a medium or long-term period. To test this hypothesis, a field experiment was performed in 2002-2003 and 2006-2007 to study the effect of K and several crop rotations on yield, water productivity, carbon sequestration, grain quality, soil K status and economic benefits derived in maize(Zea mays L)/cowpea(Vigna sinensis L.) based cropping system under minimum tillage(MT). All crops recorded higher grain yield with a higher dose of K(120 kg K2 O ha-1) than recommended K(40 kg K2 O ha-1). The five years' average yield data showed that higher K application(120 kg K2 O ha-1) produced 16.4%(Pomic efficiency of fertilizer input was significantly correlated with yield. Similarly, higherdoses of K application not only increased the water use efficiency(WUE) of all crops, but also reduced runoff and soil loss by 16.5% and 15.8% under maize and 23.3% and 19.7% under cowpea cover, respectively. This study also revealed that on an average 16.5% of left over carbon input contributed to soil organic carbon(SOC). Here, cowpea based rotation with the higher K application increased carbon sequestration in soil. Potassium fertilization also significantly improved the nutritional value of harvested grain by increasing the protein content for maize(by 9.5%) and cowpea(by 10.6%). The oil content in mustard increased by 5.0% and 6.0% after maize and cowpea, respectively. Benzimidazole derivatives: search for GI-friendly anti-inflammatory analgesic agents

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) have been successfully used for the alleviation of pain and inflammation in the past and continue to be used daily by millions of patients worldwide. However, gastrointestinal(GI) toxicity associated with NSAIDs is an important medical and socioeconomic problem. Local generation of various reactive oxygen species plays a significant role in the formation of gastric ulceration associated with NSAIDs therapy. Co-medication of antioxidants along with NSAIDs has been found to be beneficial in the prevention of GI injury. This paper describes the synthesis and biological evaluation of N-1-(phenylsulfonyl)-2-methylamino-substituted-1H-benzimidazole derivatives as anti-inflammatory analgesic agents with lower GI toxicity. Studies in vitro and in vivo demonstrated that the antioxidant activity of the test compounds decreased GI toxicity.
