BACKGROUNd Carbon ion radiotherapy(CIRT)is currently used to treat prostate *** bleeding is a major cause of toxicity even with ***,to date,a correlation between the dose and volume parameters of the 12 fractions of CIRT for prostate cancer and rectal bleeding has not been ***,the clinical risk factors for rectal bleeding were absent after 12 fractions of *** To identify the risk factors for rectal bleeding in 12 fractions of CIRT for prostate *** Among 259 patients who received 51.6 Gy[relative biological effectiveness(RBE)],in 12 fractions of CIRT,15 had grade 1(5.8%)and nine had grade 2 rectal bleeding(3.5%).The dose-volume parameters included the volume(cc)of the rectum irradiated with at least x Gy(RBE)(Vx)and the minimum dose in the most irradiated x cc normal rectal volume(dx).RESULTS The mean values of d6cc,d2cc,V10 Gy(RBE),V20 Gy(RBE),V30 Gy(RBE),and V40 Gy(RBE)were significantly higher in the patients with rectal bleeding than in those *** cutoff values were d6cc=34.34 Gy(RBE),d2cc=46.46 Gy(RBE),V10 Gy(RBE)=9.85 cc,V20 Gy(RBE)=7.00 cc,V30 Gy(RBE)=6.91 cc,and V40 Gy(RBE)=4.26 *** d2cc,V10 Gy(RBE),and V20 Gy(RBE)cutoff values were significant predictors of grade 2 rectal *** The above dose-volume parameters may serve as guidelines for preventing rectal bleeding after 12 fractions of CIRT for prostate cancer.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

To improve the surface properties,lining of magnesium alloys with hard powders by shot peening was carried out in order. The hard powders were tried to bond to the workpiece surface due to the collision of many *** order to fix the hard powders to the surface of the workpiece,the powders were set on an uneven *** easily facilitate fixing of powders,lining of the workpiece with the powder sandwiched between two aluminum foil sheets was also *** this experiment,a centrifugal shot peening machine with an electrical heater was *** workpieces were magnesium alloys AZ31B and AZ91d,and the hard powders were commercial cemented carbide,alumina,and *** joinability of hard powders near the lined surface was observed by a optical *** wear resistance was also evaluated by a wear *** hard powders were successfully bonded to the surface of workpieces by the shot lining *** results show that the present method is effective in wear resistance of the magnesium alloys.

Magnetohydrodynamic （MHd） accelerator is proposed as a next generation propulsion system. It can be used to increase the performance of a propulsion system. The objective of this study is to investigate the performance of MHd accelerator using non-equilibrium air plasma as working gas. In this study, the fundamental performance of MHd accelerator such as flow performance and electrical performance is evaluated at different levels of applied magnetic field using I-d numerical simulation. The numerical simulation is developed based on a set of differential equations with MHd approximation. To solve this set of differential equations the MacCormack scheme is used. A specified channel designed and developed at NASA Marshall Space Flight Centre is used in the numerical simulation. The composition of the simulated air plasma consists of seven species, namely, N2, N, O2, O, NO, NO＋, and e-. The performance of the non-equilibrium MHd accelerator is also compared with the equilibrium MHd accelerator.

It now appears that the end of an extended recession has also begun.

In this review,we describe our research on the development of the 13.5 nm coherent microscope using high-order harmonics for the mask inspection of extreme ultraviolet(EUV)*** lithography is a game-changing piece of technology for high-volume manufacturing of commercial *** top manufacturers apply EUV technology for fabricating the most critical layers of 7 nm *** and inspection of defect-free masks,however,still remain critical issues in EUV ***,in our pursuit for a resolution,we have developed the coherent EUV scatterometry microscope(CSM)system with a synchrotron radiation(SR)source to establish the actinic metrology,along with inspection *** intensity and phase images of patterned EUV masks were reconstructed from diffraction patterns using ptychography *** expedite the practical application of the CSM,we have also developed a standalone CSM,based on high-order harmonic generation,as an alternative to the *** the application of a coherent 13.5 nm harmonic enabled the production of a high contrast diffraction pattern,diffraction patterns of sub-100 ns size defects in a 2d periodic pattern mask could be *** of intensity and phase images from diffraction patterns were also performed for a periodic line-and-space structure,an aperiodic angle edge structure,as well as a cross pattern in an EUV mask.
