A novel characterization method for water trees based on the transmission characteristics of complementary split ring resonators

In order to achieve rapid and simple non-destructive testing of water trees in materials,a novel water tree characterisation method based on the complementary split ring reso-nators(CSRR)was proposed.The characteristics of circular CSRR and rectangular CSRR were analysed in high-frequency electromagnetic simulation software.The resonant fre-quency of CSRR was found to be correlated to the dielectric constant of the materials.In addition,the lumped equivalent circuit parameters of CSRRs were also calculated and simulated.The results of electromagnetic simulations and circuit simulations achieved good consistency.In the experimental part,sensors based on the two kinds of CSRRs were fabricated and were used to detect the water tree defects in low-density polyethylene samples.The experiment results showed that the method of using CSRR sensors to detect water tree is feasible.

This highlight is inspired by a recent article in Nature Energy in which Liu and co-workers [1] from Tsinghua University designed a new asymmetric lithium salt (i.e., lithium 1,1,1-trifluoro-N-[2-[2-(2-methoxy ethoxy)ethoxy]]ethyl] methanesulfonamide (Li FEA)) and applied it as a new lithium-salt additive in the conventional carbonate-based electrolyte,overcoming the incompatibility issue of carbonate electrolytes with lithium metal in lithium metal batteries (LMBs),even achieving a fast-charging feature.

The choice of therapeutic agents remains an unsolved issue in the repair of spinal cord injury.In this work,various agents and configurations were investigated and compared for their performance in promoting nerve regeneration,including bead assembly and bulk gel of collagen and matrigel,under acellular and cell-laden conditions,and cerebral organoid(CO)as the in vitro preorganized agent.First,in matrigel-based agents and the CO transplantations,the recipient animal gained more axon regeneration and the higher Basso,Beattie,and Bresnahan(BBB)scoring than the grafted collagen gels.Second,new nerves more uniformly infiltrated into the transplants in bead form assembly than the molded chunks.Third,the materials loaded the neural progenitor cells(NPCs)or the CO implantation groups received more regenerated nerve fibers than their acellular counterparts,suggesting the necessity to transplant exogenous cells for large trauma(e.g.,a 5 mm long spinal cord transect).In addition,the activated microglial cells might benefit from neural regeneration after receiving CO transplantation in the recipient animals.The organoid augmentation may suggest that in vitro maturation of a microtissue complex is necessary before transplantation and proposes organoids as the premium therapeutic agents for nerve regeneration.

The emergence of the Ediacara biota soon after the Gaskiers glaciation ca. 580 million years ago(ma)implies a possible glacial fuse for the evolution of animals. However, the timing of Ediacaran glaciation remains controversial because of poor age constraints on the ～30 Ediacaran glacial deposits known worldwide. In addition, paleomagnetic constraints and a lack of convincing Snowball-like cap carbonates indicate that Ediacaran glaciations likely did not occur at low latitudes. Thus, reconciling the global occurrences without global glaciation remains a paradox. Here, we report that the large amplitude, globally synchronous ca. 571–562 ma Shuram carbon isotope excursion occurs below the Ediacaran Hankalchough glacial deposit in Tarim, confirming a post-Shuram glaciation. Leveraging paleomagnetic evidence for a～90° reorientation of all continents due to true polar wander, and a non-Snowball condition that rules out low-latitude glaciations, we use paleogeographic reconstructions to further constrain glacial ages. Our results depict a ‘Great Ediacaran Glaciation’ occurring diachronously but continuously from ca.580–560 ma as different continents migrated through polar–temperate latitudes. The succession of radiation, turnover and extinction of the Ediacara biota strongly reflects glacial–deglacial dynamics.

【目的】森林生态效益补偿单位的转变是促进公益林质量提升和激励森林生态服务功能提升的需要。通过合理设置多元化的森林生态效益补偿单位,促进补偿资金的科学分配,实现对公益林生态服务价值的差异化合理评价。【方法】基于森林生态系统存量和增量的视角和特点,探索多元化的补偿单位,提出了以蓄积为单位实施存量补偿以促进森林生态效益“按质补偿”、以蓄积增量为单位实施“激励性”的增量补偿以促进森林碳汇能力提升的补偿思路。以浙江省淳安县临岐镇公益林为案例,基于现有森林区划的最小单位——小班分析评价了公益林生态效益补偿以蓄积和蓄积增量作为补偿单位的可行性。【结果】按照蓄积补偿比按照面积补偿更能凸显森林水源涵养功能和森林质量的“差异化”补偿效果;以蓄积增量为单位能够促进对碳汇功能的兼顾改善,满足森林生态服务多功能经营目标需求。【结论】以蓄积和蓄积增量为补偿单位组合实施公益林生态效益补偿,能够有效维护现有森林生态系统存量,同时激励森林生态系统增量的扩张,弥补面积单位在当前公益林生态效益补偿中价值体现激励性、动态性不足的问题,为有效促进森林生态服务功能指明提升方向。

The fabrication of constructs with gradients for chemical,mechanical,or electrical composition is becoming critical to achieving more complex structures,particularly in 3D printing and biofabrication.This need is underscored by the complexity of in vivo tissues,which exhibit heterogeneous structures comprised of diverse cells and matrices.Drawing inspiration from the classical Tesla valve,our study introduces a new concept of micromixers to address this complexity.The innovative micromixer design is tailored to enhance the re-creation of in vivo tissue structures and demonstrates an advanced capability to efficiently mix both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids.Notably,our 3D Tesla valve micromixer achieves higher mixing efficiency with fewer cycles,which represents a significant improvement over the traditional mixing method.This advance is pivotal for the field of 3D printing and bioprinting,and offers a robust tool that could facilitate the development of gradient hydrogel-based constructs that could also accurately mimic the intricate heterogeneity of natural tissues.

Rolling Decision Model of Thermal Power Retrofit and Generation Expansion Planning Considering Carbon Emissions and Power Balance Risk

With the increasing urgency of the carbon emission reduction task,the generation expansion planning process needs to add carbon emission risk constraints,in addition to considering the level of power adequacy.However,methods for quantifying and assessing carbon emissions and operational risks are lacking.It results in excessive carbon emissions and frequent load-shedding on some days,although meeting annual carbon emission reduction targets.First,in response to the above problems,carbon emission and power balance risk assessment indicators and assessment methods,were proposed to quantify electricity abundance and carbon emission risk level of power planning scenarios,considering power supply regulation and renewable energy fluctuation characteristics.Secondly,building on traditional two-tier models for low-carbon power planning,including investment decisions and operational simulations,considering carbon emissions and power balance risks in lower-tier operational simulations,a two-tier rolling model for thermal power retrofit and generation expansion planning was established.The model includes an investment tier and operation assessment tier and makes year-by-year decisions on the number of thermal power units to be retrofitted and the type and capacity of units to be commissioned.Finally,the rationality and validity of the model were verified through an example analysis,a small-scale power supply system in a certain region is taken as an example.The model can significantly reduce the number of days of carbon emissions risk and ensure that the power balance risk is within the safe limit.

A biosafety laboratory is a prerequisite for studying emerging infectious diseases.Safe and effective operation in laboratories and the handling of pathogens determine the safety of the personnel,pathogens,and the environment in the laboratory,which are among the key factors for successful experimentation.In this article,we aimed to provide ideas for the emergency management of biosafety laboratories,including a discussion on the urgency of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)related experimental activities,tracking clinical information,taking emergency measures,revision of the risk assessment process,and standardization of personal protective equipment and personnel behavior standards.
