Ionization Engineering of Hydrogels Enables Highly Efficient Salt‑Impeded Solar Evaporation and Night‑Time Electricity Harvesting

Interfacial solar evaporation holds immense potential for brine desalination with low carbon footprints and high energy utilization.Hydrogels,as a tunable material platform from the molecular level to the macroscopic scale,have been considered the most promising candidate for solar evaporation.However,the simultaneous achievement of high evaporation efficiency and satisfactory tolerance to salt ions in brine remains a challenging scientific bottleneck,restricting the widespread application.Herein,we report ionization engineering,which endows polymer chains of hydrogels with electronegativity for impeding salt ions and activating water molecules,fundamentally overcoming the hydrogel salt-impeded challenge and dramatically expediting water evaporating in brine.The sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate-modified carbon black is chosen as the solar absorbers.The hydrogel reaches a ground-breaking evaporation rate of 2.9 kg m−2 h−1 in 20 wt%brine with 95.6%efficiency under one sun irradiation,surpassing most of the reported literature.More notably,such a hydrogel-based evaporator enables extracting clean water from oversaturated salt solutions and maintains durability under different high-strength deformation or a 15-day continuous operation.Meantime,on the basis of the cation selectivity induced by the electronegativity,we first propose an all-day system that evaporates during the day and generates salinity-gradient electricity using waste-evaporated brine at night,anticipating pioneer a new opportunity for all-day resource-generating systems in fields of freshwater and electricity.

In the time of Internet of Things(IoT),alternating current electroluminescence(ACEL)has unique advantages in the fields of smart display and human–computer interaction.However,their reliance on external high-voltage AC power supplies poses challenges in terms of wearability and limits their practical application.This paper proposed an innovative scheme for preparing a feather triboelectric nanogenerator(F-TENG)using recyclable and environmentally friendly material.The highest open-circuit voltage,short-circuit current,and transferred charge of SF6-treated F-TENGs can reach 449 V,63μA,and 152 nC,which enables easy lighting of BaTiO_(3)^(-)doped ACEL devices.Using a human electrical potential,a single-electrode F-TENG is combined with ACEL device for self-powered fingerprint recognition display.These works achieve self-powered flexible wearable ACEL devices,which are not only efficient and portable but also have good application prospects in the human–computer interaction,functional displays,and wearable electronic devices.

Tactile-sensing-based robotic grasping stability analysis

Tactile signals play a crucial role in enabling robots to successfully manipulate unfamiliar objects. For robots to grasp unknown objects securely and without causing damage, it is essential that they can analyze grasping stability in real time through tactile signals and respond promptly. This study introduces a novel method for analyzing the stability of robotic hand grasping, utilizing the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The efficacy of this method is demonstrated through its static and dynamic performance, and evaluated across a series of experiments. The findings of this research highlight the method’s ability to accurately detect when an object begins to slip from the robot’s grasp. Employing this method allows the gripper to maintain a secure hold on objects by applying the minimal necessary force. It also enables the gripper to dynamically adjust the force it applies in real time, thus preventing the object from slipping during the movement of the robotic arm. Moreover, the gripper demonstrates the ability to stably grasp objects of varied weights and with unknown characteristics, showcasing the versatility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Reduction of chlorogermylene MsFluindtBu-GeCl 1 with potassium graphite(KC8)afforded putative germylyne radical MsFluindtBu-Ge 2 as confirmed by electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)spectroscopy.However,it slowly decayed via C—H bond activation at the fluorenyl moiety to yield a bis(germylene)3 at room temperature.By using a Lewis base to stabilize the unoccupied p orbital at the GeⅠradical center,acyclic two-coordinate GeⅠradicals MsFluindtBu-Ge(IMe4)4(IMe4=1,3,4,5-tetramethyl-imidazolin-2-ylidene),MsFluindtBu-Ge(IiPr)5(IiPr=1,3-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethyl-imidazolin-2-ylidene),MsFluindtBu-Ge(PMe3)6 were isolated in crystalline forms.The unpaired electron in 4-6 mainly resides at the Ge 4p orbital as revealed by EPR spectroscopic studies and theoretical calculations.Interestingly,facile ligand exchange of PMe3 in 6 with IMe4 and IiPr was observed to afford 4 and 5,respectively.Moreover,phosphinogermylyne 6 reacted with PhEEPh(E=S,Se),4-tetrabutylphenylacetylene(Ar'CCH),[CpMo(CO)3]2 and nBu3SnH to furnish germylenes MsFluindtBu-GeEPh(E=S 7,Se 8),MsFluindtBu-GeCH=CHAr'9,a germylyne complex MsFluindtBu-Ge≡Mo(CO)2Cp 10 and a Ge(Ⅳ)compound MsFluindtBu-GeH2SnnBu311,respectively.The reactivity studies demonstrate that 6 can act as a synthon of one-coordinate germylyne radical attributing to labile coordination of trimethylphosphine.

Human-robot object handover is one of the most primitive and crucial capabilities in human-robot collaboration.It is of great significance to promote robots to truly enter human production and life scenarios and serve human in numerous tasks.Remarkable progressions in the field of human-robot object handover have been made by researchers.This article reviews the recent literature on human-robot object handover.To this end,we summarize the results from multiple dimensions,from the role played by the robot(receiver or giver),to the end-effector of the robot(parallel-jaw gripper or multi-finger hand),to the robot abilities(grasp strategy or motion planning).We also implement a human-robot object handover system for anthropomorphic hand to verify human-robot object handover pipeline.This review aims to provide researchers and developers with a guideline for designing human-robot object handover methods.

Application of epoxy resin in cultural relics protection

Cultural relics have their unique artistic, cultural and historical value, and the protection of important cultural relics is conducive to the inheritance of historical culture. As a kind of cementing agent and binder commonly seen in cultural relics protection, epoxy resin is widely used in the bonding and consolidation of various materials in cultural relics, which has important practical application value. In this review, a systematic classification of commonly used epoxy resins, including their molecular structures, synthesis reactions and properties are provided, the problems and solutions of epoxy resin in cultural relics protection are summarized. The solutions are classified into three aspects: functional epoxy resin, blending modification, and other modification. Representative application examples of epoxy resin are listed in the field of cultural relics protection, and the development direction of epoxy resin in cultural relics protection in the future is proposed, which provides useful guidance for the modification of epoxy resin and its application in cultural relics protection in the future.

Stochastic programming based coordinated expansion planning of generation,transmission,demand side resources,and energy storage considering the DC transmission system

With the increasing penetration of wind and solar energies,the accompanying uncertainty that propagates in the system places higher requirements on the expansion planning of power systems.A source-grid-load-storage coordinated expansion planning model based on stochastic programming was proposed to suppress the impact of wind and solar energy fluctuations.Multiple types of system components,including demand response service entities,converter stations,DC transmission systems,cascade hydropower stations,and other traditional components,have been extensively modeled.Moreover,energy storage systems are considered to improve the accommodation level of renewable energy and alleviate the influence of intermittence.Demand-response service entities from the load side are used to reduce and move the demand during peak load periods.The uncertainties in wind,solar energy,and loads were simulated using stochastic programming.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified through numerical simulations.

The data analysis of blasting sites has always been the research goal of relevant researchers.The rise of mobile blasting robots has aroused many researchers’interest in machine learning methods for target detection in the field of blasting.Serverless Computing can provide a variety of computing services for people without hardware foundations and rich software development experience,which has aroused people’s interest in how to use it in the field ofmachine learning.In this paper,we design a distributedmachine learning training application based on the AWS Lambda platform.Based on data parallelism,the data aggregation and training synchronization in Function as a Service(FaaS)are effectively realized.It also encrypts the data set,effectively reducing the risk of data leakage.We rent a cloud server and a Lambda,and then we conduct experiments to evaluate our applications.Our results indicate the effectiveness,rapidity,and economy of distributed training on FaaS.

Moiré potential renormalization and ultra-flat bands induced by quasiparticle-plasmon coupling

Moirépotential profile can form flat electronic bands and manifest correlated states of electrons,where carrier doping is essential for observing those correlations.In this work,we uncover a hidden but remarkable many-electron effect:doped carriers form a two-dimensional plasmon and strongly couple with quasiparticles to renormalize moirépotential and realize ultra-flat bands.Using many-body perturbation theory,we demonstrate this effect in twisted MoS_(2)/WS_(2) heterobilayer.The moirépotential is significantly enhanced upon carrier doping,and the bandwidth is reduced by order of magnitude,leading to drastic quenching of electronic kinetic energy and stronger correlation.We further predict that the competition between correlated mechanisms can be effectively controlled via doping,giving hope to a quantum transition between Mott and charge-transfer insulating states.Our work reveals that the potential renormalization effect of doping is much more significant in determining and controlling many-electron electronic correlations than sole filling-factor tuning in semiconducting moirécrystals.

Response of ecosystem carbon storage to land use change from 1985 to 2050 in the Ningxia Section of Yellow River Basin,China

Regional sustainable development necessitates a holistic understanding of spatiotemporal variations in ecosystem carbon storage(ECS),particularly in ecologically sensitive areas with arid and semi-arid climate.In this study,we calculated the ECS in the Ningxia Section of Yellow River Basin,China from 1985 to 2020 using the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs(InVEST)model based on land use data.We further predicted the spatial distribution of ECS in 2050 under four land use scenarios:natural development scenario(NDS),ecological protection scenario(EPS),cultivated land protection scenario(CPS),and urban development scenario(UDS)using the patch-generating land use simulation(PLUS)model,and quantified the influences of natural and human factors on the spatial differentiation of ECS using the geographical detector(Geodetector).Results showed that the total ECS of the study area initially increased from 1985 until reaching a peak at 402.36×10^(6) t in 2010,followed by a decreasing trend to 2050.The spatial distribution of ECS was characterized by high values in the eastern and southern parts of the study area,and low values in the western and northern parts.Between 1985 and 2020,land use changes occurred mainly through the expansion of cultivated land,woodland,and construction land at the expense of unused land.The total ECS in 2050 under different land use scenarios(ranked as EPS>CPS>NDS>UDS)would be lower than that in 2020.Nighttime light was the largest contributor to the spatial differentiation of ECS,with soil type and annual mean temperature being the major natural driving factors.Findings of this study could provide guidance on the ecological construction and high-quality development in arid and semi-arid areas.
