Development and validation of a predictive model for patients with post-extubation dysphagia

BACKGROUND:Swallowing disorder is a common clinical symptom that can lead to a series of complications,including aspiration,aspiration pneumonia,and *** study aimed to investigate risk factors of post-extubation dysphagia(PED)in intensive care unit(ICU)patients with endotracheal intubation,and to develop a risk-predictive model for PED,which could serve as an assessment tool for the prevention and control of ***:Patients retrospectively selected from June to December 2021 in a tertiary hospital served as the derivation *** recruited from the same hospital from March to June 2022served as the external validation cohort for the predictive *** used a combination of variable screening and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)regression to select the most useful candidate predictors and checked the multicollinearity of independent variables using the variance inflation factor *** logistic regression analysis was performed to calculate the odds ratio(OR;95%confidence interval[95%CI])and P-value for each variable to predict *** screened risk factors were introduced into R software to build a nomogram *** performance of the model,including discrimination ability,calibration,and clinical benefit,was evaluated by plotting the receiver operating characteristic(ROC),calibration,and decision ***:A total of 305 patients were included in this *** them,235 patients(53PED vs.182 non-PED)were enrolled in the derivation cohort,while 70 patients(17 PED vs.53 nonPED)were enrolled in the validation *** independent predictors included age,pause of sedatives,level of consciousness,activities of daily living(ADL)score,nasogastric tube,sore throat,and voice *** predictors were used to establish the predictive nomogram *** model demonstrated good discriminative ability,and the area under the ROC curve(AUC)was 0.945(95%CI 0.904-0.970).Applying the predictive model

Essential oils improve nursery pigs'performance and appetite via modulation of intestinal health and microbiota

Facile Synthesis of Polyisothioureas via Alternating Copolymerization of Aziridines and Isothiocayanates

Isothiourea is an important class of sulfur-containing molecules showing unique catalytic and biological activities. As such,polyisothiourea is envisioned to be an interesting type of polymer that potentially exhibits a number of interesting properties. However, there is no access to synthesizing well-defined polyisothiourea, and currently isothiourea-containing polymers are mainly prepared by immobilizing onto other polymer's side chain. Herein, we report the first facile synthesis of polyisothioureas via alternating copolymerization of aziridines and isothiocayanates. Mediated by the catalytic system of phosphazene superbases/alcohol, a broad scope of aziridines and isothiocayanates could be transformed into polyisothioureas with adjustable substitutions(11 examples). The structures of obtained polyisothioureas were fully characterized with ^(1)H-NMR, ^(13)C-NMR, and ^(1)H-^(13)C HMBC NMR. Moreover, the polyisothioureas show tunable thermal properties depending on substitutions on the isothiourea linkages. The novel structure of these polyisothioureas will enable a powerful platform for the discovery of nextgeneration functional plastics.

Harmonic State Space Based Impedance Modeling and Virtual Impedance Based Stability Enhancement Control for LCC-HVDC Systems

Learning the imaging mechanism directly from optical microscopy observations

The optical microscopy image plays an important role in scientific research through the direct visualization of the nanoworld,where the imaging mechanism is described as the convolution of the point spread function(PSF)and *** on a priori knowledge of the PSF or equivalent PSF,it is possible to achieve more precise exploration of the ***,it is an outstanding challenge to directly extract the PSF from microscopy ***,with the help of self-supervised learning,we propose a physics-informed masked autoencoder(PiMAE)that enables a learnable estimation of the PSF and emitters directly from the raw microscopy *** demonstrate our method in synthetic data and real-world experiments with significant accuracy and noise *** outperforms DeepSTORM and the Richardson–Lucy algorithm in synthetic data tasks with an average improvement of 19.6%and 50.7%(35 tasks),respectively,as measured by the normalized root mean square error(NRMSE)*** is achieved without prior knowledge of the PSF,in contrast to the supervised approach used by DeepSTORM and the known PSF assumption in the Richardson–Lucy *** method,PiMAE,provides a feasible scheme for achieving the hidden imaging mechanism in optical microscopy and has the potential to learn hidden mechanisms in many more systems.

Boosting the catalytic performance of Cu-SAPO-34in NO_(x) removal via hydrothermal treatment

Phosphate ions promoted Cu-SAPO-34(P-Cu-SAPO-34)were prepared using bulk CuO particles as Cu^(2+)precursor by a solid-state ion exchange technique for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x) with NH_3(NH_3-SCR).The effects of high temperature(H-T)hydrothermal aging on the NO_(x) removal(de-NO_(x))performance of Cu-SAPO-34 with and without phosphate ions were systematically investigated at atomic *** results displayed that both Cu-SAPO-34 and P-Cu-SAPO-34 presented relatively poor NO_(x) removal activity with a low conversion(<30%)at 250-500℃.However,after H-T hydrothermal treatment(800℃ for 10 hr at 10%H_2O),these two samples showed significantly satisfied NO_(x) elimination performance with a quite high conversion(70%-90%)at 250-500℃.Additionally,phosphate ions decoration can further enhance the catalytic performance of Cu-SAPO-34 after hydrothermal treatment(Cu-SAPO-34H).The textural properties,morphologies,structural feature,acidity,redox characteristic,and surface-active species of the fresh and hydrothermally aged samples were analyzed using various characterization *** systematical characterization results revealed that increases of 28%of the isolated Cu^(2+)active species(Cu^(2+)-2Z,Cu(OH)^(+)-Z)mainly from bulk CuO and 50%of the Bronsted acid sites,the high dispersion of isolated Cu^(2+)active component as well as the Bronsted acid sites were mainly responsible for the accepted catalytic activity of these two hydrothermally aged samples,especially for P-Cu-SAPO-34H.
