Aqueous sodium-ion batteries are known for poor rechargeability because of the competitive water decomposition reactions and the high electrode *** have been reported by saltconcentrated and organic-hybridized electrolyte designs,however,at the expense of cost and ***,we report the prolonged cycling of ASIBs in routine dilute electrolytes by employing artificial electrode coatings consisting of NaX zeolite and NaOH-neutralized perfluorinated sulfonic *** as-formed composite interphase exhibits a molecularsieving effect jointly played by zeolite channels and size-shrunken ionic domains in the polymer matrix,which enables high rejection of hydrated Na^(+)ions while allowing fast dehydrated Na^(+)*** this coating to electrode surfaces expands the electrochemical window of a practically feasible 2 mol kg^(-1) sodium trifluoromethanesulfonate aqueous electrolyte to 2.70 V and affords Na_(2)MnFe(CN)_(6)//NaTi_(2)(PO_(4))_(3) full cells with an unprecedented cycling stability of 94.9%capacity retention after 200 cycles at 1 *** with emerging electrolyte modifications,this molecular-sieving interphase brings amplified benefits in long-term operation of ASIBs.

Initially defined high entropy alloys(HEAs)usually exhibit a single-phase solid-solution ***,two and/or more types of phases in HE As possibly induce the desired microstructure features,which contribute to improving the wear properties of HE ***,we prepare a series of(AlCoCrFeNi)_(100-x)Hf_(x)(x=0,2,4and 6;at%) HEAs and concern their phase compositions,micro structures and wear *** leads to the formation of(Ni,Co)_(2)Hf-type Laves phase and tailors the microstructure from a body-centered cubic(BCC) singlephase structure to a hypoeutectic *** increased hardness from~HV 512.3 to~HV 734.1 is due to solid-solution strengthening,grain refinement strengthening and precipitated phase *** a few oxides(Al_(2)O_(3)+Cr_(2)O_(3)) caused by the wear heating contribute to an 85.5% decrease in wear rate of the HEA system from6.71×10^(-5) to 0.97×10^(-5) m^(3)·N^(-1)·m^(-1).In addition,Hf addition changes the wear mechanism from abrasive wear,mild oxidative wear and adhesive wear to oxidative wear and adhesive wear.

Flexible sensors have been developed for the perception of various stimuli. However, complex deformation,usually resulting from forces or strains from multi-axes, can be challenging to measure due to the lack of independent perception of multiaxial stimuli. Herein, flexible sensors based on the metamaterial membrane with zero Poisson's ratio(ZPR) are proposed to achieve independent detection of biaxial stimuli. By deliberately designing the geometric dimensions and arrangement parameters of elements, the Poisson's ratio of an elastomer membrane can be modulated from negative to positive, and the ZPR membrane can maintain a constant transverse dimension under longitudinal stimuli. Due to the accurate monitoring of grasping force by ZPR sensors that are insensitive to curvatures of contact surfaces, rigid robotic manipulators can be guided to safely grasp deformable objects. Meanwhile, the ZPR sensor can also precisely distinguish different states of manipulators. When ZPR sensors are attached to a thermal-actuation soft robot, they can accurately detect the moving distance and direction. This work presents a new strategy for independent biaxial stimuli perception through the design of mechanical metamaterials, and may inspire the future development of advanced flexible sensors for healthcare, human–machine interfaces and robotic tactile sensing.

How to achieve energy efficiency in buildings without compromising indoor air quality:A case study on enthalpy exchangers

As a representative heat recovery device,the fixed-plate enthalpy exchanger possesses the advantages of high recovery effectiveness,low pressure drop,and small space ***,indoor contaminants may transfer to fresh air through the enthalpy exchanger simultaneously,causing cross-contamination ***,the cross-contamination risk of the fixed-plate enthalpy exchanger has been under-researched in previous *** a result,this study experimentally investigates the energy performance,formaldehyde and ammonia transfer rates of paper-based and membrane-based enthalpy *** results illustrate that the enthalpy recovery effectiveness of the plate exchangers ranges from 60%–85%.The formaldehyde transfer rate through the exchangers varies from 5%–23%,and the ammonia transfer rate is 0–15%.The high effectiveness and low contaminant transfer rates are conducive to the promising application of the fixed-plate enthalpy *** addition,the energy reclaimed increases with the increase of the absolute indoor-outdoor enthalpy *** formaldehyde and ammonia transfer rates and cross-contamination risk slightly decrease with increasing temperature but significantly increase with increasing ***,the experimental results demonstrate that the contaminant transfer rates through the membranebased exchanger are lower than those of the paper-based *** study provides a reference for the fixed-plate enthalpy exchanger design in practical applications.

Photoreduction of CO_(2) to solar fuels has caused great interest,but suffers from low catalytic efficiency and poor ***,we designed a S-scheme heterojunction(Cu-TiO_(2)/WO_(3))with Cu single atom to significantly boost the photoreduction of CO_(2).Notably,the developed Cu-TiO_(2)/WO_(3) achieved the solardriven conversion of CO_(2) to CH_(4) with an evolution rate of 98.69μmol g^(−1) h^(−1),and the electron selectivity of CH_(4) reached 88.5%.The yield was much higher than those of pristine WO_(3),TiO_(2)/WO_(3) and Cu-TiO_(2) *** and theoretical analysis suggested that the S-scheme heterojunction accelerated charge migration and inhibited the recombination of electron-hole ***,the charge separation effect of the heterojunction meliorated the position of the *** uplifted d-band centers of Cu and Ti on Cu-TiO_(2)/WO_(3) not only improved the electron interaction between Cu single atoms and substrate-TiO_(2),accelerated the adsorption and activation of CO_(2) on the active sites of Cu single atom,but also optimized the Gibbs free energies of CH 4 formation pathway,leading to excellent selectivity toward CH_(4).This work provides new insights into the design of photocatalyst systems with high photocatalytic performance.

Online monitoring of the curing temperature field is essential to improving the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process of composite *** embedded sensor-based technologies have difficulty monitoring the full temperature field or have to introduce heterogeneous items that could have an undesired impact on the *** this paper,a non-contact,full-field monitoring method based on deep learning that predicts the internal temperature field of composite parts in real time using surface temperature measurements of auxiliary materials is *** the proposed method,an average temperature monitoring accuracy of 97%is achieved in various heating *** addition,this method also demonstrates satisfying feasibility when a stronger thermal barrier covers the *** method was experimentally validated during the self-resistance electric heating process,in which the monitoring accuracy reached 93.1%.This method can potentially be applied to automated manufacturing and process control in the composites industry.

The recent increase in blast/bombing incidents all over the world has pushed the development of effective strengthening approaches to enhance the blast resistance of existing civil *** geopolymer composite(EGC)is a promising material featured by eco-friendly,fast-setting and strain-hardening characteristics for emergent strengthening and ***,the fiber optimization for preparing EGC and its protective effect on structural elements under blast scenarios are *** this study,laboratory tests were firstly conducted to evaluate the effects of fiber types on the properties of EGC in terms of workability,dry shrinkage,and mechanical properties in compression,tension and *** experimental results showed that EGC containing PE fiber exhibited suitable workability,acceptable dry shrinkage and superior mechanical properties compared with other types of *** that,a series of field tests were carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of EGC retrofitting layer on the enhancement of blast performance of typical *** tests include autoclaved aerated concrete(AAC)masonry walls subjected to vented gas explosion,reinforced AAC panels subjected to TNT explosion and plain concrete slabs subjected to contact *** was found that EGC could effectively enhance the blast resistance of structural elements in different *** AAC masonry walls and panels,with the existence of EGC,the integrity of specimens could be maintained,and their deflections and damage were significantly *** plain concrete slabs,the EGC overlay could reduce the diameter and depth of the crater and spallation of specimens.

In this editorial,we commented on a recently released manuscript by Zeng et al in the World Journal of *** focused specifically on lifestyle changes in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).NAFLD is a hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome,which ultimately leads to advanced hepatic fibrosis,cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma and affects more than 25%of the population *** therapeutic strategies against NAFLD such as pharmacologic therapies focus on liver protection,anti-inflammation,and regulating disease-related metabolic disorder *** several drugs are in late-stage development,potent drugs against the diseases are ***,existing surgical approaches such as bariatric surgery are not routinely used to treat *** in patients’unhealthy lifestyles,such as weight loss through dietary changes and exercises to ameliorate patientassociated metabolic disorders and metabolic syndrome,is the first-line treatment for patients with *** sufficient intrinsic motivation and adherence,the management of unhealthy lifestyles can reduce the severity of the disease,improve the quality of life,and increase the survival expectancy of patients with NAFLD.

Robust textile-based spoof plasmonic frequency scanning antenna for on-body IoT applications

Securing a comfortable, wearable compact frequency beam scanning antenna(FBSA) with robustness to deformation, low specific absorption rate(SAR), and good coverage of the surrounding environment for Internet of Things(IoT) applications, such as on-body navigation and wireless communication is an emerging challenge. In this work, a robust textile-based spoof plasmonic frequency scanning antenna utilizing higher-order modes is presented, which is also robust to deformation caused by the activities of the human body. The innovative design of the element ensures the high-efficiency transmission of the fundamental mode of spoof surface plasmon polaritons(SSPP) structure, providing the potential of being a multifunctional composite device in the compact on-body network. Besides, an artificial magnetic conductor(AMC) is designed underneath the SSPP structure, obtaining a low SAR value(0.113 W/kg), which ensures the safety of users. As a practical realization of this concept, a textile-based spoof plasmonic antenna was fabricated in the microwave regime and the performed experimental results show the proposed antenna has a single-beam radiation characteristic with a 70° beam scanning angle range when the frequency is 4.7–6.0 GHz with a high average realized gain of 13.15 dBi. And it still maintains a steady performance when faced with structure deformation, which proves its robustness. Wireless communication quality experiments are performed to demonstrate the proposed antenna can measure the angles of targets and realize wireless signal transmission to specific targets as the frequency varies, it may find great potential in the field of on-body IoT applications.
