Comparison of visual performance with iTrace analyzer following femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery with bilateral implantation of two different trifocal intraocular lenses

AIM:To compare the postoperative binocular visual performance with an iTrace analyzer following femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery(FLACS)combined with bilateral implantation of two different types of diffractive trifocal intraocular lenses(IOL).METHODS:During this retrospective observational study,patients who received bilateral FLACS combined with implantation of two different types of diffractive trifocal IOLs were *** to the IOLs’different types and design,the patients were divided into AT LISA tri839MP group(tri839 group)and AcrySof PanOptix TFNT00 group(TFNT group).Study parameters included preoperative and postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA)at 5 m,uncorrected near visual acuity(UNVA)at 30 cm and 40 cm,uncorrected intermediate visual acuity(UIVA)at 60 cm and 80 cm,postoperative refractive status,objective visual qualities and total high order aberrations(HOAs)*** postoperative complications were also ***:Totally 56 eyes of 28 patients(tri839 group,n=26;TFNT group,n=30)were *** baseline characteristics between groups were not statistically significantly *** was not significantly different between groups except for 1wk follow-up due to the postoperative corneal *** group showed statistically significant better UNIA at 60 cm than tri839 group at the 1wk(0.05±0.19 vs 0.15±0.10 logMAR,P=0.013),1mo(0.05±0.12 vs 0.15±0.09 logMAR,P=0.001)and 3mo(0.04±0.12 vs 0.15±0.11 logMAR,P=0.001)follow-up,while tri839 group showed statistically significant better UNIA at 80 cm than TFNT group at the 1d(0.14±0.15 vs 0.20±0.14 logMAR,P=0.041)and 1mo(0.09±0.07 vs 0.14±0.10 logMAR,P=0.042)*** refractive status showed stable at every *** transfer function(MTF)values and strehl ratio(SR)values were improved and HOAs were lower significantly after ***:FLACS with bilateral implantations of both tri839 and TFNT00 can achieve satisfactory

Boosting bidirectional sulfur conversion enabled by introducing boron-doped atoms and phosphorus vacancies in Ni2P for lithium-sulfur batteries

Lithium-sulfur （Li-S） batteries have gained great attention due to the high theoretical energy density and low cost,yet their further commercialization has been obstructed by the notorious shuttle effect and sluggish redox ***,we supply a strategy to optimize the electron structure of Ni2P by concurrently introducing B-doped atoms and P vacancies in Ni2P （Vp-B-Ni2P）,thereby enhancing the bidirectional sulfur *** study indicates that the simultaneous introduction of B-doped atoms and P vacancies in Ni2P causes the redistribution of electron around Ni atoms,bringing about the upward shift of d-band center of Ni atoms and effective d-p orbital hybridization between Ni atoms and sulfur species,thus strengthening the chemical anchoring for lithium polysulfides （LiPSs） as well as expediting the bidirectional conversion kinetics of sulfur ***,theoretical calculations reveal that the incorporation of B-doped atoms and P vacancies in Ni2P selectively promotes Li2S dissolution and nucleation ***,the Li-S batteries with Vp-B-Ni2P-separators present outstanding rate ability of 777 m A h g-1at 5 C and high areal capacity of 8.03 mA h cm-2under E/S of 5μL mg-1and sulfur loading of 7.20 mg *** work elucidates that introducing heteroatom and vacancy in metal phosphide collaboratively regulates the electron structure to accelerate bidirectional sulfur conversion.

Current therapeutic strategies for ischemic stroke fall short of the desired objective of neurological functional ***,there is an urgent need to develop new methods for the treatment of this *** are natural cell-derived vesicles that mediate signal transduction between cells under physiological and pathological *** have low immunogenicity,good stability,high delivery efficiency,and the ability to cross the blood–brain *** physiological properties of exosomes have the potential to lead to new breakthroughs in the treatment of ischemic *** rapid development of nanotechnology has advanced the application of engineered exosomes,which can effectively improve targeting ability,enhance therapeutic efficacy,and minimize the dosages *** in technology have also driven clinical translational research on *** this review,we describe the therapeutic effects of exosomes and their positive roles in current treatment strategies for ischemic stroke,including their antiinflammation,anti-apoptosis,autophagy-regulation,angiogenesis,neurogenesis,and glial scar formation reduction ***,it is worth noting that,despite their significant therapeutic potential,there remains a dearth of standardized characterization methods and efficient isolation techniques capable of producing highly purified *** optimization strategies should prioritize the exploration of suitable isolation techniques and the establishment of unified workflows to effectively harness exosomes for diagnostic or therapeutic applications in ischemic ***,our review aims to summarize our understanding of exosome-based treatment prospects in ischemic stroke and foster innovative ideas for the development of exosome-based therapies.

Dynamic Regulation of Hydrogen Bonding Networks and Solvation Structures for Synergistic Solar‑Thermal Desalination of Seawater and Catalytic Degradation of Organic Pollutants

Although solar steam generation strategy is efficient in desalinating seawater,it is still challenging to achieve continuous solar-thermal desalination of seawater and catalytic degradation of organic ***,dynamic regulations of hydrogen bonding networks and solvation structures are realized by designing an asymmetric bilayer membrane consisting of a bacterial cellulose/carbon nanotube/Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)nanorod top layer and a bacterial cellulose/Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)nanorod(BCH)bottom ***,the hydrogen bonding networks inside the membrane can be tuned by the rich surface–OH groups of the bacterial cellulose and Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)as well as the ions and radicals in situ generated during the catalysis ***,both SO_(4)^(2−)and HSO_(5)−can regulate the solvation structure of Na^(+)and be adsorbed more preferentially on the evaporation surface than Cl^(−),thus hindering the de-solvation of the solvated Na^(+)and subsequent nucleation/growth of ***,the heat generated by the solar-thermal energy conversion can accelerate the reaction kinetics and enhance the catalytic degradation *** work provides a flow-bed water purification system with an asymmetric solar-thermal and catalytic membrane for synergistic solar thermal desalination of seawater/brine and catalytic degradation of organic pollutants.

The chirality-induced spin selectivity(CISS)has been found in the antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic chiral inorganic materials with unpaired electrons,while rarely reported in the spin-paired diamagnetic inorganic materials with spin-pairing ***,we report the CISS in the spin-paired diamagnetic BiOBr endowed with three levels of chiral *** mesostructured BiOBr films(CMBFs)were fabricated through a sugar alcohol-induced hydrothermal *** antipodal CMBFs exhibited chirality-dependent,magnetic field-independent magnetic circular dichroism(MCD)signals,which indicates the existence of spin *** spin selectivity of CMBFs was speculated to be the result of the competing effect between the externally applied magnetic field and the effective magnetic field arisen from the spin electron motions in chiral *** chirality-induced effective magnetic field acts on the magnetic moment of electrons,potentially overcoming the spin-pairing energy and producing opposite energy changes for spin-down and spin-up electrons.

Unlocking the stable interface in aqueous zinc-ion battery with multifunctional xylose-based electrolyte additives

The growth of dendrites and the side reactions occurring at the Zn anode pose significant challenges to the commercialization of aqueous Zn-ion batteries（AZIBs）. These challenges arise from the inherent conflict between mass transfer and electrochemical kinetics. In this study, we propose the use of a multifunctional electrolyte additive based on the xylose（Xylo） molecule to address these issues by modulating the solvation structure and electrode/electrolyte interface, thereby stabilizing the Zn anode. The introduction of the additive alters the solvation structure, creating steric hindrance that impedes charge transfer and then reduces electrochemical kinetics. Furthermore, in-situ analyses demonstrate that the reconstructed electrode/electrolyte interface facilitates stable and rapid Zn2+ion migration and suppresses corrosion and hydrogen evolution reactions. As a result, symmetric cells incorporating the Xylo additive exhibit significantly enhanced reversibility during the Zn plating/stripping process, with an impressively long lifespan of up to 1986 h, compared to cells using pure ZnSO4electrolyte. When combined with a polyaniline cathode, the full cells demonstrate improved capacity and long-term cyclic stability. This work offers an effective direction for improving the stability of Zn anode via electrolyte design, as well as highperformance AZIBs.

Advances in tissue state recognition in spinal surgery:a review
