The high-value utilization of industrial solid waste using a facile and eco-friendly process is of great interest and significance in reducing environmental pollution and developing a green circular economy. Herein, we propose an amyloid-mediated molecular engineering strategy to transform particulate waste into valuable adsorbents for metal ions. Our method has the advantage of aqueous solution fabrication under mild conditions without the use of high-temperature hydrothermal methods and toxic chemical reagents. Amyloid-mediated molecular engineering manipulates the phase transition of bovine serum albumin(BSA)on particulate waste surfaces, resulting in a remarkable ～3.1 times improvement in the adsorption capacity of fly ash, a typical industrial solid waste for gold ions after modification with the phase-transitioned BSA(PTB). The resultant adsorption ability was 69–1,980 times higher than those of conventional and emerging adsorbent materials such as ion exchange resins, activated carbon(AC), covalent organic frameworks(COFs), and metal-organic frameworks(MOFs). We further demonstrated the application of our PTB-modified materials in the recovery of precious metals from low-grade gold ore and electronic waste leachates. Consequently, this strategy could increase the value of waste materials nearly 27 times. In addition, this method is generally extendable to other conventional industrial adsorbents such as resin, clay, and Al2O3, and enhances their adsorption capabilities at least twofold. Overall, this work provides a simple and green approach for improving the adsorption performance of solid particles, and is expected to develop into a universal strategy for transforming waste particles into high-value-added products.

We investigate a diffusive,stage-structured epidemic model with the maturation delay and freelymoving *** delays and diffusive rates as bifurcation parameters,the only possible way to destabilize the endemic equilibrium is through Hopf *** normal forms of Hopf bifurcations on the center manifold are calculated,and explicit formulae determining the criticality of bifurcations are *** are two different kinds of stable oscillations near the first bifurcation:on one hand,we theoretically prove that when the diffusion rate of infected immature individuals is sufficiently small or sufficiently large,the first branch of Hopf bifurcating solutions is always spatially homogeneous;on the other,fixing this diffusion rate at an appropriate size,stable oscillations with different spatial profiles are observed,and the conditions to guarantee the existence of such solutions are given by calculating the corresponding eigenfunction of the Laplacian at the first Hopf bifurcation *** bifurcation behaviors indicate that spatial diffusion in the epidemic model may lead to spatially inhomogeneous distribution of individuals.

Bacterial infections and the associated morbidity and mortality due to bacterial pathogens in wounds and medical implants have been increasing as most of current coatings cannot fulfill all the requirements including excellent intrinsically antibacterial activity, low cytotoxicity, and favorable physical properties. Herein, we present a kind of antibacterial bydrogel based on e-poly（L-lysine）（EPL） grafted carboxymethyl chitosan （CMC-g-EPL） as the inherently antibacterial matrix and the surplus EPL as highly efficient antimicrobial agent. Such hydrogels possess tunable swelling abilities with water absorption percentages of 800%-2000% and modulus varying from 10 kPa to 100 kPa, and exhibit two-stage excellent antibacterial behavior. First, the free EPL can be released from the hydrogel network for quick and highly efficient bacteria killing with 99.99% of efficacy; second, the grafted EPL endows bydrogel matrix with prolonged intrinsically antibacterial activity, especially when most of free EPL is released from the hydrogel. Overall, we provide a new insight for preparing highly effective antibacterial hydrogels.

Accurate knowledge of mesospheric winds and waves is essential for studying the dynamics and climate in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT)*** this study,we conduct a comparative analysis of the mesosphere tidal results obtained from two adjacent meteor radars at low latitudes in Kunming,China,from November 2013 to December *** two radars operate at different frequencies of 37.5 MHz and 53.1 MHz,***,overall good agreement is observed between the two radars in terms of horizontal winds and tide *** results show that the dominant tidal waves of the zonal and meridional winds are diurnal and semidiurnal ***,we conduct an exhaustive statistical analysis to compare the tidal amplitudes and vertical wavelengths recorded by the dual radar systems,which reveals a high degree of alignment in tidal *** investigation includes variances and covariances of tidal amplitudes,which demonstrate remarkable consistency across measurements from both *** finding highlights clear uniformity in the mesospheric tidal patterns observed at low latitudes by the two neighboring meteor *** of the comparative analysis specifically underscore the significant correlation in vertical wavelength measurements,validating the robustness of radar observations for tidal research.

Immunoglobulin G4(IgG4)-related cholecystitis(IgG4-C)is often difficult to distinguish from gallbladder carcinoma(GBC).This study aimed to determine a practical strategy for differentiating between IgG4-C and GBC to avoid unnecessary surgical *** expression of IgG4 in the gallbladder was detected by *** clinicopathological and radiological characteristics of IgG4-C patients and GBC patients were analyzed *** revealed that IgG4 was upregulated in the plasma cells of IgG4-C *** median serum total bilirubin levels were significantly higher in the patients with IgG4-C than in those with GBC(45.8μmol L^-1 vs.29.9μmol L^-1).The serumγ-GGT levels were higher in IgG4-C patients than in GBC patients,whereas the serum levels of CA125 were significantly higher in GBC patients than in IgG4-C *** imaging scans were helpful for differentiating IgG4-C from GBC based on the presence of a layered pattern and Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses in the gallbladder *** were no statistically significant differences in age,presence of abdominal pain,level of emaciation between the two *** study demonstrated that the combination of imaging with serum total bilirubin,γ-GGTand CA125 levels can offer added preoperative diagnostic value and reduce the rate of IgG4-C misdiagnosis.

The coronavirus disease 2019（COVID-19） outbreak caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2（SARS-CoV-2） developed into a global health emergency. Systemic microthrombus caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection is a common complication in patients with COVID-19. Cardiac microthrombosis as a complication of SARS-CoV-2 infection is the primary cause of cardiac injury and death in patietns with severe COVID-19. In this study, we performed single-cell sequencing analysis of the right ventricular free wall tissue from healthy donors,patients who died during the hypercoagulable period of characteristic coagulation abnormality（CAC）, and patients who died during the fibrinolytic period of CAC. We collected 61,187 cells enriched in 24 immune cell subsets and 13 cardiac-resident cell subsets. We found that in the course of SARS-CoV-2 infected heart microthrombus, MYO1EhighRASGEF1Bhighmonocyte-derived macrophages promoted hyperactivation of the immune system and initiated the extrinsic coagulation pathway by activating chemokines CCL3, CCL5. This series of events is the main cause of cardiac microthrombi following SARS-CoV-2 infection. In a SARS-CoV-2 infected heart microthrombus, excessive immune activation is accompanied by an increase in cellular iron content, which in turn promotes oxidative stress and intensifies intercellular competition. This induces cells to alter their metabolic environment, resulting in increased sugar uptake via the glycosaminoglycan synthesis pathway. In addition, high levels of reactive oxygen species generated by elevated iron levels promote increased endogenous malondialdehyde synthesis in a subpopulation of cardiac endothelial cells. This exacerbates endothelial cell dysfunction and exacerbates the coagulopathy process.
