As of December 2022,2603 laboratory-identified Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV)infections and 935 associated deaths,with a mortality rate of 36%,had been reported to the World Health Organization(WHO).However,there are still no vaccines for MERS-CoV,which makes the prevention and control of MERS-CoV *** this study,we generated two DNA vaccine candidates by integrating MERS-CoV Spike(S)gene into a replicating Vaccinia tian Tan(VTT)*** to homologous immunization with either vaccine,mice immunized with DNA vaccine prime and VTT vaccine boost exhibited much stronger and durable humoral and cellular immune *** immunized mice produced robust binding antibodies and broad neutralizing antibodies against the EMC2012,England1 and KNIH strains of ***-Boost immunization also induced strong MERS-S specific T cells responses,with high memory and poly-functional(CD107a-IFN-γ-TNF-α)effector CD8t T *** conclusion,the research demonstrated that DNA-Prime/VTT-Boost strategy could elicit robust and balanced humoral and cellular immune responses against *** study not only provides a promising set of MERS-CoV vaccine candidates,but also proposes a heterologous sequential immunization strategy worthy of further development.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet（AIS） has been losing ice mass and contributing to global sea level rise（GSLR）. Given its mass that is enough to cause ～58 m of GSLR, accurate estimation of mass balance trend is critical for AIS mass loss monitoring and sea level rise forecasting. Here, we present an improved approach to reconciled solutions of mass balance in AIS and its regions from multiple contributing solutions using the input-out, altimetric, and gravimetric methods. In comparison to previous methods, such as IMBIE 2018, this approach utilizes an adaptive data aggregation window to handle the heterogeneity of the contributing solutions, including the number of solutions, temporal distributions, uncertainties, and estimation techniques. We improved the regression-based method by using a two-step procedure that establishes ensembled solutions within each method（input-output, altimetry, or gravimetry） and then estimates the method-independent reconciled solutions. For the first time, 16contributing solutions from 8 Chinese institutions are used to estimate the reconciled mass balance of AIS and its regions from1996 to 2021. Our results show that AIS has lost a total ice mass of ～3213±253 Gt during the period, an equivalent of～8.9±0.7 mm of GSLR. There is a sustained mass loss acceleration since 2006, from 88.1±3.6 Gt yr-1during 1996–2005 to 130.7 ±8.4 Gt yr-1during 2006–2013 and further to 157.0±9.0 Gt yr-1during 2014–2021. The mass loss signal in the West Antarctica and Antarctic Peninsula is dominant and clearly presented in the reconciled estimation and contributing solutions, regardless of estimation methods used and fluctuation of surface mass balance. Uncertainty and challenges remain in mass balance estimation in East Antarctica. This reconciled estimation approach can be extended and applied for improved mass balance estimation in the Greenland Ice Sheet and mountain glacier regions.

Identification of deregulated miRNAs and their targets in hepatitis B virus-associated hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM： TO identify the differentially expressed miRNAs and their targets in hepatitis B virus （HBV）-associated hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）. METHODS： Six hundred and sixty seven human miRNAs were quantitatively analyzed by Taqman lowdensity miRNA array （TLDA） in HBV-HCC tissues. Gene ontology （GO） and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes （KEGG） pathway analyses were used to analyze the significant function and pathway of the differentially expressed miRNAs in HBV-HCC. TargetScan software was used to predict the targets of deregulated miRNAs. Western blotting and luciferase assay were performed to verify the targets of these ***： Ten up-regulated miRNAs （miR-217, miR- 518b, miR-517c, miR-520g, miR-519a, miR-522, miR- 518e, miR-525-3p, miR-512-3p, and miR-518a-3p） and 11 down-regulated miRNAs （miR-138, miR-214, miR-214#, miR-199a-5p, miR-433, miR-511, miR-592, miR-483-3p, miR-483-5p, miR-708 and miR-1275） were identified by Taqman miRNAs array and confirmed quantitatively by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in HCC and adjacent non-tumor tissues. GO and KEGG pathway analysis revealed that ＂regulation of actin cytoskeleton＂ and ＂pathway in cancer＂ are most likely to play critical roles in HCC tumorigenesis. MiR- 519a and ribosomal protein S6 kinase polypeptide 3 （RPS6KA3） were predicted as the most significant can-didates by miRNA-mRNA network. In addition, cyclin D3 （CCND3） and clathrin heavy chain （CHC）, usually up-regulated in HCC tissues, were validated as the di- rect target of miR-138 and miR-199a-5p, respectively.

Photothermal material applied in environmental governance has attracted growing *** combining the Stober method and dopamine-triggered coating strategy,Co-Mn precursor was in situ incorporated into the poly dopamine(PDA)layer over the surface of silica ***,a unique photothermal nanosphere with SiO_(2)core and thin carbon layer and dual Co-Mn oxides shell was allowed to form by sequential heat treatment in the inert atmosphere(SiO_(2)@CoMn/C).The bimetallic fraction of Co/Mn in the carbon layer and post-treatment calcination temperature was comprehensively tuned to optimize the peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation performance of the *** state of bimetallic species was studied including their physical distribution,chemical valence,and interplay by various ***,Co oxides appear as dominant monodispersed nanoparticles(~10 nm),while Mn with cluster-like morphology is observed to uniformly distribute over thin-layer carbon and adhered to the surface of SiO_(2)nanospheres(~250 nm).The calcined temperature could tune the oxidized state of Co species,leading to the optimization of the catalytic performance of introduced dual metal *** a result,this obtained optimal catalyst integrated the advantages of exposed bimetallic CoMn species and N-doped thin carbon to deliver excellent catalytic PMS activation performance and photothermal synergetic catalytic mineralization ability for diversiform *** reactions condition controls and anion interference studies were conducted to identify the adaptability of the optimal ***,the application of solar-driven interfacial water evaporation using optimal SiO_(2)@Co_3Mn_1/C-600 catalyst was explored,showing a high water evaporation rate of 1.48 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1)and an efficiency of 95.2%,further revealing a comprehensive governance functionality of obtained material in the complex pollution condition.

Defects engineering is an effective strategy for manipulating electromagnetic parameters and enhancing electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption ***,the relationship between them is not clear,especially in solid solution *** this work,a series of(Cr_(1-x)V_(x))_(2)AlC MAX phase solid solutions with layered structure were prepared via tuning the ratio of Cr and V to explore their EMW absorption *** experimental results indicated that the doping of V atoms at the M-site could effectively regulate its impedance matching and EMW absorption properties by introducing appropriate numbers of defects in the crystal,such as twin boundaries,dislocations and lattice *** them,if Cr:V=3:1,Cr_(1.5)V_(0.5)AlC,as radar absorption materials,could reach a strong reflection loss of-51.8 dB at the frequency of 12.8 GHz under an ultra-thin thickness of 1.3 *** reflection loss value could attain-10 dB in a wide frequency range of 2.7-18 GHz and thickness range of 1-5 *** addition,after high temperature and acid-alkali immersion treatment,this sample still had good EMW absorption capability,and the effective absorption bandwidth was enhanced from 2.3 to 2.6 GHz after concentrated acid immersion or 3.1 GHz after concentrated alkali *** work has great reference significance for the research and development of high-performance MAX-based EMW absorption materials in harsh environments.

In insects, the number and specificity of antennal lobe glomeruli often reflect the number and diversity of expressed chemosensory genes, which are linked to its ecological niche and specific olfactory needs. The oriental armyworm, Mythimna separata, is an important and common lepidopteran pest of cereal crops. Given its reliance on the olfactory system for crucial behaviors, understanding the evolutionary potential of this system requires a thorough characterization of the anatomical structure of the primary olfactory center. Here, we systematically identified all antennal lobe glomeruli of M. separata based on synaptic antibody immunostaining and mass staining of the olfactory sensory neurons. A total of 69 glomeruli were identified in females and 65 in males, and an intuitive nomenclature based on glomerular positions was applied. Our findings uncovered some sex-specific glomeruli in this species. There were ten female-specific glomeruli and three male-specific glomeruli, except for the macroglomerular complex(MGC) units, with a notable observation that the female labial pit organ glomerulus was larger than its male counterpart. Additionally, we identified four antennal-lobe tracts(ALTs) and retrograde labeling from the calyx revealed that all glomeruli were innervated by the medial ALT projection neurons. The comparison of the olfactory system structures between M. separata and sympatric moths supports their evolutionary convergence in noctuid moths. These results collectively lay the foundation for future studies on olfactory processing in M. separata.

Impact of baseline hepatitis B virus viral load on the long-term prognosis of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treated with immunotherapy
