考虑液体性质的变化和对流换热的影响,研究了Rabinowitsch液在多孔通道中的蠕动机理。由于倾斜对通道壁的影响,液体的黏度沿通道厚度发生变化,而导热系数则随着温度的变化而变化。在长波长和小雷诺数近似的情况下,利用摄动法求解非线性控制方程,得到轴向速度、温度、热传递系数和流线的表达式并进行了图解分析。运用膨胀、牛顿和假塑性流体模型对上述现象进行了研究。结果表明,可变黏度、多孔参数和滑移参数对膨胀、牛顿和假塑性流体模型的流体流量有很大的影响。研究进一步揭示了由于可变黏度和多孔参数的增加而增强了俘获现象的发生。此外,可以通过适当调节倾斜角来调整所俘获的丸剂尺寸。

BACKGROUND There is scant literature on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS).AIM To assess the magnitude,clinical characteristics,feasibility,and outcomes of treatment in *** A total of 904 BCS patients from New Delhi,India and 1140 from Mumbai,India were *** prevalence and incidence of HCC were determined,and among patients with BCS-HCC,the viability and outcomes of interventional therapy were *** In the New Delhi cohort of 35 BCS-HCC patients,18 had HCC at index presentation(prevalence 1.99%),and 17 developed HCC over a follow-up of 4601 person-years,[incidence 0.36(0.22-0.57)per 100 person-years].BCS-HCC patients were older when compared to patients with BCS alone(P=0.001)and had a higher proportion of inferior vena cava block,cirrhosis,and long-segment vascular *** median alpha-fetoprotein level was higher in patients with BCS-HCC at first presentation than those who developed HCC at follow-up(13029 ng/mL vs 500 ng/mL,P=0.01).Of the 35 BCS-HCC,26(74.3%)underwent radiological interventions for BCS,and 22(62.8%)patients underwent treatment for HCC[transarterial chemoembolization in 18(81.8%),oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor in 3(13.6%),and transarterial radioembolization in 1(4.5%)].The median survival among patients who underwent interventions for HCC compared with those who did not was 3.5 years vs 3.1 mo(P=0.0001).In contrast to the New Delhi cohort,the Mumbai cohort of BCS-HCC patients were predominantly males,presented with a more advanced HCC[Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer C and D],and 2 patients underwent liver *** HCC is not uncommon in patients with *** interventions and liver transplantation are feasible in select primary BCS-HCC patients and may improve outcomes.

Objective:This study aimed to assess smartphone dependency and its impact on academics among medical and nursing *** and Methods:A cross-sectional study was carried out on Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)and Bachelor of Science in Nursing(BScN)students in a medical teaching *** Smartphone Dependency Scale and self-structured questionnaire on impact of smartphone on academics were used to assess smartphone dependency and its impact on academics.A total of 436 students were selected using the total enumerative sampling *** were analyzed using the descriptive(frequency,percentage,mean,and standard deviation)and inferential(t-test,Chi-square test)***:The mean age of students was 20.6±1.29 years,81%were females,and the mean body mass index score was 21.59±3.41 kg/*** mean impact on academics and smartphone dependency scores was 19.92±7.01 and 48.58±11.46,*** impact on academics had a significant association with student category(P<0.001)and gender(P<0.001).A significant association was found between the impact on academics(P=0.003)and smartphone dependency(P=0.05)with studying ***:The use of smartphones is more among medical *** studying in the first and second years are found to be more dependent on smartphone,which caused a serious impact on their *** appliances have become mandatory in this era of technology,and it is not possible to stop its usage but negative impact of smartphones on students’academic performance needs to be ***,it is mandatory to organize educational seminars and workshops to promote the appropriate use of smartphones.

Background and Aim:The model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)was originally developed to predict survival after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS).The MELD-sodium(MELD-Na)score has replaced MELD for organ allocation for liver ***,there are limited studies to compare the MELD with MELD-Na to predict mortality after ***:We performed a retrospective chart review of patients who underwent TIPS placement between 2006 and 2016 at our *** primary outcome was mortality,and the secondary outcomes sought to assess which variables could provide prognostic information for mortality after TIPS *** performed receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis to assess the performance of MELD and ***:There were 186 eligible patients in the *** mean pre-TIPS MELD and MELD-Na were 13 and 15,***,mortality after TIPS was 15%at 30 days and 16.7%at 90 *** a comparison of the areas under the ROCs for MELD and MELD-Na,MELD was superior to MELD-Na for 30-day(0.762 vs.0.709)and 90-day(0.780 vs.0.730)mortality after *** optimal cutoff score for 30-day mortality was 15(0.676–0.848)for MELD and 17(0.610–0.808)for MELD-Na,whereas the optimal cutoff score for 90-day mortality was 16(95%CI:0.705–0.855)for MELD and 17(95%CI:0.643–0.817)for *** were 24 patients with high MELD-Na≥17,but with low MELD<15,and 90-day mortality in this group was 8.3%.Conclusions:Although MELD-Na is a superior prognostic tool to MELD for predicting overall mortality in cirrhotic patients,MELD tended to outperform MELD-Na to predict mortality after TIPS.

Modelling the potential risk zone of Lantana camara invasion and response to climate change in eastern India

Background:The aim of this study is to elucidate the potential risk zones prone to the invasion of perennial ornamental plant Lantana camara,which is native to South America and has invasive tendency in Jharkhand,eastern India,for present(2020)and the future(2050)climatic conditions under four different Representative Concentration Pathways scenarios(RCPs).We analysed the current distribution pattern of *** in the plateau region of eastern India and identified potentially suitable habitats prone to its further infestation in the future under the climate change ***:Results showed the presence of *** invasion in~13%of the geographical area of Jharkhand,Cho-tanagpur plateau which may expand up to 20–26%by 2050 depending upon emission scenarios as characterised by the four *** for the current scenario suggests the dominance of *** in sub-zone V(12.77%under high risk zones(HRZ)and 9.5%under critical risk zones(CRZ))followed by sub-zones IV(6.7%:HRZ;4.19%:CRZ)and VI(2.49%:HRZ;2.14%:CRZ).Future projection(2050)indicates a possible expansion of its distribution range across all agro-climatic sub-zones with dominance in sub-zones V and *** Bio_4(temperature seasonality)was observed as the most contributing factor for the distribution of *** for current and future scenarios across all *** habitat for *** mostly occurred under natural vegetation(66.05%of CRZ and 60.71%of HRZ)and agriculture landscape(29.51%of CRZ and 34.48%of HRZ).Conclusions:The study provides an insight of invasion of *** in the plateau region of eastern India,and reveals wide distribution across all the agro-climatic sub-zones of Jharkhand,mostly in open and disturbed areas under natural vegetation and agriculture *** projections for the year 2050 suggest a continuous increase in the expansion range of invasion across Jharkhand and call for urgent initiatives to combat its further invasion.

In this paper we study influenza viral membrane deformation related to the refolding of Hemagglutinin(HA)*** focus of the paper is to understand membrane deformation and budding due to experimentally observed linear HA-protein clusters,which have not been mathematically studied *** viral membrane is modeled as a two dimensional incompressible lipid bilayer with bending *** tensionless membranes,we derive an analytical solution while for membrane under tension we solve the problem *** solution for tensionless membranes shows that the height of membrane deformation increases monotonically with the bending moment exerted by HA-proteins and attains its maximum when the size of the protein cluster reaches a critical *** results also show that the hypothesis of dimple formation proposed in the literature is valid in the two dimensional *** comparative study of axisymmetric HA-clusters and linear HA-clusters reveals that the linear HA-clusters are not favorable to provide a sufficient energy required to overcome an energy barrier for a successful fusion,despite their capability to cause membrane deformation and budding.

The evolution of multi-visceral and isolated intestinal transplant techniques over the last 3 decades has highlighted the technical challenges related to the closure of the abdomen at the end of the *** key factors that contribute to this challenge include:(1) Volume/edema of donor graft;and(2) loss of abdominal domain in the *** being able to close the abdominal wall leads to a variety of complications and morbidity that range from complex ventral hernias to bowel *** the end of the 90's this challenge was overcome by graft reduction during the donor operation or bench table procedure(especially reducing liver and small intestine),as well as techniques to increase the volume of abdominal cavity by pre-operative expansion *** reports from a few groups have demonstrated the ability of transplanting a full-thickness,vascularized abdominal wall from the same ***,a spectrum of techniques have co-evolved with multivisceral and intestinal transplantation,ranging from graft reduction to enlarging the volume of the abdominal *** of these techniques are free from complications,however in large-volume centers the combinations of both(graft reduction and abdominal widening,sometimes used in the same patient) could decrease the adverse events related to recipient's closure,allowing a faster *** quest for a solution to this unique challenge has led to the proposal and implementation of innovative solutions to enlarge the abdominal cavity.

The maintenance of genetic variation in mutualism-related traits is key for understanding mutualism evolution,yet the mechanisms maintaining variation remain *** asked whether genotype-byenvironment(G3E)interaction is a potential mechanism maintaining variation in the model legume–rhizobia system,Medicago truncatula–Ensifer *** planted 50 legume genotypes in a greenhouse under ambient light and shade to reflect reduced carbon availability for *** found an expected reduction under shaded conditions for plant performance traits,such as leaf number,aboveground and belowground biomass,and a mutualism-related trait,nodule *** also found G3E for nodule number,with83%of this interaction due to shifts in genotype fitness rank order across light environments,coupled with strong positive directional selection on nodule number regardless of light *** results suggest that G3E can maintain genetic variation in a mutualism-related trait that is under consistent positive directional selection across light environments.
