Scientic Workow Applications(SWFAs)can deliver collaborative tools useful to researchers in executing large and complex scientic ***,Scientic Workow Scheduling(SWFS)accelerates the computational procedures between the available computational resources and the dependent workow jobs based on the researchers’***,cost optimization is one of the SWFS challenges in handling massive and complicated tasks and requires determining an approximate(near-optimal)solution within polynomial computational *** by this,current work proposes a novel SWFS cost optimization model effective in solving this *** proposed model contains three main stages:(i)scientic workow application,(ii)targeted computational environment,and(iii)cost optimization *** model has been used to optimize completion time(makespan)and overall computational cost of SWFS in cloud computing for all considered scenarios in this research *** will ultimately reduce the cost for service *** the same time,reducing the cost has a positive impact on the protability of service providers towards utilizing all computational resources to achieve a competitive advantage over other cloud service *** evaluate the effectiveness of this proposed model,an empirical comparison was conducted by employing three core types of heuristic approaches,including Single-based(i.e.,Genetic Algorithm(GA),Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),and Invasive Weed Optimization(IWO)),Hybrid-based(i.e.,Hybrid-based Heuristics Algorithms(HIWO)),and Hyper-based(i.e.,Dynamic Hyper-Heuristic Algorithm(DHHA)).Additionally,a simulation-based implementation was used for SIPHT SWFA by considering three different sizes of *** proposed model provides an efcient platform to optimally schedule workow tasks by handing data-intensiveness and computational-intensiveness of *** results reveal that the proposed cost optimization model attained an optimal Job completio

Discrete particle modeling of granular temperature distribution in a bubbling fluidized bed

The discrete hard sphere particle model （DPM） is applied in this work to study numerically the distribu- tions of particle and bubble granular temperatures in a bubbling fluidized bed. The dimensions of the bed and other parameters are set to correspond to those of Miuller et al（2008）. Various drag models and oper- ational parameters are investigated to find their influence on particle and bubble granular temperatures. Various inlet superficial gas velocities are used in this work to obtain their effect on flow characteristics. It is found that the superficial gas velocity has the most important effect on granular temperatures including bubble granular temperature, particle translational granular temperature and particle rotational granular temperature. The drag force model affects more seriously the large scale variables such as the bubble gran- ular temperature. Restitution coefficient influences all granular temperatures to some degree. Simulation results are compared with experimental results by Muller et al. （2008） showing reasonable agreement.

Worldwide construction and demolition waste (CDW) is currently dumped. To close the building cycle and the building materials cycle by recycling CDW in high technical applications, the technical quality of stony materials must be improved. For this purpose, concrete rubbles and brick rubbles, the two major stony constituents of CDW, should be separated from each other. Based on the differences in density and content of Fe-2O-3 between the two materials, a wet method of jigging and a dry method of magnetic separation are effective,tested.

Changes of the glutathione redox system during the weaning transition in piglets, in relation to small intestinal morphology and barrier function

Background: Weaning is known to result in barrier dysfunction and villus atrophy in the immediate post-weaning phase, and the magnitude of these responses is hypothesized to correlate with changes in the glutathione(GSH)redox system. Therefore, these parameters were simultaneously measured throughout the weaning phase, in piglets differing in birth weight category and weaning age, as these pre-weaning factors are important determinants for the weaning transition. Low birth weight(LBW) and normal birth weight(NBW) littermates were assigned to one of three weaning treatments;i.e. weaning at 3 weeks of age(3 w), weaning at 4 weeks of age(4 w) and removal from the sow at 3 d of age and fed a milk replacer until weaning at 3 weeks of age(3 d3 w). For each of these treatments, six LBW and six NBW piglets were euthanized at 0, 2, 5, 12 or 28 d post-weaning piglets, adding up 180 ***: Weaning increased the glutathione peroxidase activity on d 5 post-weaning in plasma, and duodenal and jejunal mucosa. Small intestinal glutathione-S-transferase activity gradually increased until d 12 post-weaning, and this was combined with a progressive rise of mucosal GSH up till d 12 post-weaning. Oxidation of the GSH redox status(GSH/GSSG Eh) was only observed in the small intestinal mucosa of 3 d3 w weaned piglets at d 5 postweaning. These piglets also demonstrated increased fluorescein isothiocyanate dextran(FD4) and horseradish peroxidase fluxes in the duodenum and distal jejunum during the experiment, and specifically demonstrated increased FD4 fluxes at d 2 to d 5 post-weaning. On the other hand, profound villus atrophy was observed during the weaning transition for all weaning treatments. Transforming growth factor-β （TGF-β） members are key cytokines that control embryogenesis and tissue homeostasis via transmembrane TGF-β type II （TβR II） and type I （TβRI） and serine/threonine kinases receptors. Aberrant activation of TGF-β signaling leads to diseases, including cancer. In advanced cancer, the TGF-β/SMAD pathway can act as an oncogenic factor driving tumor cell invasion and metastasis, and thus is considered to be a therapeutic target. The activity of TGF-β/SMAD pathway is known to be regulated by ubiquitination at multiple levels. As ubiquitination is reversible, emerging studies have uncovered key roles for ubiquitin-removals on TGF-β signaling components by deubiquitinating enzymes （DUBs）. In this paper, we summarize the latest findings on the DUBs that control the activity of the TGF-β signaling pathway. The regula- tory roles of these DUBs as a driving force for cancer progression as well as their underlying working mech- anisms are also discussed.

Bacterial volatiles elicit differential olfactory responses in insect species from the same and different trophic levels

Artificial rearing influences the morphology,permeability and redox state of the gastrointestinal tract of low and normal birth weight piglets

Background： In this study the physiological implications of artificial rearing were investigated. Low（LBW） and normal birth weight（NBW） piglets were compared as they might react differently to stressors caused by artificial rearing. In total, 42 pairs of LBW and NBW piglets from 16 litters suckled the sow until d19 of age or were artificially reared starting at d3 until d19 of age. Blood and tissue samples that were collected after euthanasia at 0, 3, 5, 8 and 19 d of age. Histology, ELISA, and Ussing chamber analysis were used to study proximal and distal small intestine histomorphology, proliferation, apoptosis, tight junction protein expression, and permeability. Furthermore, small intestine,liver and systemic redox parameters（GSH, GSSG, GSH-Px and MDA） were investigated using ***： LBW and NBW artificially reared piglets weighed respectively 40 and 33% more than LBW and NBW sowreared piglets at d19（P 〈 0.01）. Transferring piglets to a nursery at d3 resulted in villus atrophy, increased intestinal FD-4 and HRP permeability and elevated GSSG/GSH ratio in the distal small intestine at d5（P 〈 0.05）. GSH concentrations in the proximal small intestine remained stable, while they decreased in the liver（P 〈 0.05）. From d5 until d19, villus width and crypt depth increased, whereas PCNA, caspase-3, occludin and claudin-3 protein expressions were reduced. GSH,GSSG and permeability recovered in artificially reared piglets（P 〈 0.05）.Conclusion： The results suggest that artificial rearing altered the morphology, permeability and redox state without compromising piglet performance. The observed effects were not depending on birth weight.

BACKGROUND Neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NACT)and oesophagectomy is the standard of care for resectable oesophageal *** outcomes following resection have been improving over time while NACT remain largely ***,a recent meta-analysis of randomized control trials did not demonstrate a survival benefit in adding NACT,raising the possibility that improved surgical techniques may be reducing the perceived effectiveness of *** To compare the effect of addition of NACT to a standardized surgery and lymphadenectomy on overall and disease-free survival in patients undergoing curative oesophagectomy for oesophageal *** Patient data were analysed from a prospectively maintained surgical survival ***,surgical,and survival outcomes were compared between groups according to treatment and nodal *** The data of 243 consecutive patients were identified.79 patients were given NACT and 162 had surgery *** NACT group were younger,and there was less frequent stage I *** survival was similar between NACT and surgery only groups(5YS:48.7%vs 42.5%;P=0.113),as was diseasefree survival(5YS:40.6%vs 39.9%;P=0.635).There were≥30 nodes removed in 46 patients,and<30 in 197 patients,but were otherwise *** was improved survival in patients with≥30 nodes removed than those with<30 nodes(5YS:64.4%vs 40.7%;P=0.015),and a better disease-free survival that neared significance(5YS:54.9%vs 36.6%;P=0.078).CONCLUSION NACT did not appear to affect overall or disease-free ***,an overall survival benefit was observed in patients with≥30 lymph nodes removed,and a benefit in disease-free survival which was not significant.
