The electrochemical corrosion mechanisms of Mg alloys were extensively studied in previous investigations of different chemical com-positions,modified surface states and various electrolyte ***,recent research focused on the active state of Mg dissolution,leading to unresolved effects of secondary phases adjacent to a stableα-solid solution passive *** present study investigates the fundamental electrochemical corrosion mechanisms of three different Laves phases with varying phase morphologies and phase fractions in the passive state of Mg-Al-Ca *** microstructure was characterized by(transmission-)electron microscopy and synchrotron-based transmission X-ray *** electrochemical corrosion resistance was determined with a standard three-electrode setup and advanced in-situ flow cell measurements.A new electrochemical activity sequence(C15>C36>α-Mg>C14)was obtained,as a result of a stable passive layer formation on theα-solid ***,nm-scale Mg-rich precipitates were identified within the Laves phases,which tend to inhibit the corrosion kinetics.

Pressureless sintering of ZrC with variable stoichiometry

This paper presents the experiments on the synthesis of zirconium carbide (ZrC) using carbothermal reduction of zirconia (ZrO2).The ratio of ZrO2∶C is used to adapt ZrCxOy with x＜ 1 or ZrC + *** modification of ZrCxOy and the total carbon amount allows the use of pressureless sintering method in combination with sintering temperatures ≤ 2000 ℃.Fully densified ZrC products are *** relevant details of ZrC formation are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XrD).The sintered products are characterized by XrD,field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM),as well as mechanical and electrical *** and FESEM investigations show that ZrCxOy is formed during the manufacturing *** grain size and additional zirconia or carbon are related to the ZrO2∶C ratio of the starting powder *** strength up to 300 MPa,Young's modulus up to 400 GPa,fracture toughness up to 4.1 MPa·m1/2,and electrical resistance at room temperature around 10-4 Ω.cm are reached by the pressureless sintered ZrC.

Surgical approach affecting long-term urinary continence status after robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy prospectively evaluated using self-reported functional status(Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite,EPIC-26)

Purpose:The aim of the study was to examine the influence of the surgical approach for robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy(rALP)on long-term urinary continence status in the era of self-reported functional status measures using the Expanded Prostate Can-cer Index Composite 26.Materials and methods:This is a prospective evaluation of 232 patients undergoing rALP between September,2019 and September,*** continence status and postoperative incontinence(pad usage)were evaluated 12 months after rALP using Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite 26 *** were categorized according to their surgical approach and outcome into the following groups:successful nerve sparing(NS),primarily without nerve sparing(***),and no nerve sparing by secondary resection(NNS by Sr).The median levels of their questionnaire outcomes were evaluated and compared using the Wilcoxon rank sum test with continuity correction.results:Urinary continence status 12 months after rALP differed significantly between the NS and ***(p=0.0071)and the NS and NNS by Sr(p=0.0076)*** was no significant difference between the *** and NNS by Sr(p=0.53)*** usage 12 months after rALP had no significant difference with regard to Sr of the neurovascular bundle(p=0.14).Conclusions:Patient-reported outcomes of long-term urinary continence status seem to show no difference in postoperative conti-nence,regardless of whether a non-nerve-sparing result was planned or reached through ***,preservation of neurovascular bundle seems to lead to better long-term continence rates.

Brine shrimp(Artemia)has existed on Earth for 400 million years and has major ecological importance in hypersaline *** a crucial live food in aquaculture,brine shrimp cysts have become one of the most important aquatic products traded ***,our understanding of the biodiversity,prevalence and global connectedness of viruses in brine shrimp is still very limited.A total of 143 batches of brine shrimp(belonging to seven species)cysts were collected from six continents including 21 countries and more than 100 geographic locations worldwide during 1977–*** total,55 novel rNA viruses were identified,which could be assigned to 18 different viral families and related *** viruses were dsrNA viruses,16 were+ssrNA viruses,and 28 were−ssrNA *** analyses of the rNA-directed rNA polymerase(rdrp)showed that brine shrimp viruses were often grouped with viruses isolated from other invertebrates and ***,most brine shrimp viruses were related to those from different hosts that might feed on brine shrimp or share the same ecological niche.A notable case was the novel brine shrimp noda-like virus 3,which shared 79.25%(rdrp)and 63.88%(capsid proteins)amino acid identity with covert mortality nodavirus(CMNV)that may cause losses in *** addition,both virome composition and phylogenetic analyses revealed global connectedness in certain brine shrimp viruses,particularly among Asia and Northern *** highlights the incredible species diversity of viruses in these ancient species and provides essential data for the prevalence of rNA viruses in the global aquaculture *** broadly,these findings provide novel insights into the previously unrecognized rNA virosphere in hypersaline ecosystems worldwide and demonstrate that human activity might have driven the global connectedness of brine shrimp viruses.

Backgrounds: While there’s developing proof aimed toward improving embryo implantation thru a focal point on great development, restrained studies have been performed on enhancing endometrial receptivity. Intrauterine Laser Therapy (LT) can be powerful in selling endometrial cell proliferation, therefore enhancing the achievement of assisted reproductive techniques (ArT). The contemporary look at aimed to research the effectiveness of effective intrauterine lasers in growing endometrial thickness and the achievement of being pregnant rate. Materials and Methods: In the current clinical randomized trial (rTC) study, the infertile women (20 - 42 years old) referred to the infertility clinic in 2023-2024 who were candidates for IVF treatment with recurrent implantation failure (rIF) history were included. The patients were divided into two main groups: the intervention group;low level laser therapy (LLLT) after hormone administration) (n = 52) and the control group (hormone administration without LT) (n = 52). The IVF success rate and change in endometrial thickness before and after the LT were compared in groups. results: There was a significant difference between groups (p Conclusion: It appears that the incorporation of Intrauterine LT in the realm of infertility could significantly impact as a novel supplementary treatment in improving endometrial receptivity and pregnancy rate.

Value of three-dimensional reconstructions in pancreatic carcinoma using multidetector CT:Initial results

AIM:To evaluate the use of three-dimensional imaging of pancreatic carcinoma using multidetector computed tomography(CT)in a prospective ***:Ten patients with suspected pancreatic tumors were examined prospectively using multidetec-tor CT(Somatom Sensation 16,Siemens,Erlangen,Germany).The images were evaluated for the pres-ence of a pancreatic carcinoma and invasion of the peripancreatic vessels and surrounding *** the isotropic CT data sets,a three-dimensional image was created with automatic vascular analysis and semi-automatic segmentation of the organs and pancreatic tumor by a *** CT examinations and the three-dimensional images were presented to the sur-geon directly before and during the patient's operation using the Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit-based software "reLiver".Immediately after surgery,the value of the two images was judged by the *** operation and the histological results served as the gold ***:Nine patients had a pancreatic carcinoma(all pT3),and one patient had a serous *** tumor inf iltrated the superior mesenteric *** inf iltration was correctly *** carcinomas were *** comparison to the CT image with axial and coronal reconstructions,the three-dimensional image was judged by the surgeons as better for operation planning and consistently described as ***:A 3D-image of the pancreas repre-sents an invaluable aid to the ***,the 3D-software must be further developed in order to be integrated into daily clinical routine.

Anisotropic plastic deformation behavior of as-extruded ZK60 magnesium alloy at room temperature

The anisotropic plastic deformation behavior of as-extruded ZK60 magnesium alloy at room tempera-ture (rT) was investigated by compressive and tensile testing in different directions, i.e. the loading axis oriented at 0°, 45° and 90° to the extrusion direction. The relationship between texture and plastic deformation behavior were examined. The results show that the extruded ZK60 alloy exhibits a strong ring fiber texture. The mechanical properties are strongly orientation dependent. In tension testing, the 0° specimen exhibited higher yield strength and lower elongation. In compression testing, however, ZK60 alloy exhibited almost the same yield strength in three directions. The anisotropic plastic defor-mation behavior is due to strong fiber texture and the lower symmetry of the hexagonal close packed (hcp) structure of ZK60 alloy. The correlation between texture and mechanical behaviour offers the possibility to improve the mechanical properties of magnesium alloy by optimization of the material production process.

Identification of two ABCC transporters involved in malathion detoxification in the red flour beetle,Tribolium castaneum

ABC transporters have been suggested to be involved in insecticide detoxification in different insect species mainly based on the indirect observation of transcriptional upregulation of ABC gene expression in response to insecticide *** studies performed by us and others in the red flour beetle,Tribolium castaneum,have analyzed the function of TcABCA-C and TcABCG-H genes using rNA interference(rNAi)and demonstrated that specific TcABCA and TcABCC genes are involved in the elimination of the pyrethroid tefluthrin and the benzoylurea diflubenzuron,because gene silencing increased the beetle's susceptibility to the *** this study,we focused on the potential functions of TcABCA-C genes in detoxification of the pyrethroid cyfluthrin(CF),the organophosphate malathion(MAL)and the diacylhdyazine tebufenozide(TBF).Analysis of transcript levels of selected TcABCA-C genes in response to treatment with these three chemically unrelated insecticides revealed that some genes were particularly upregulated after insecticide *** addition,the ABC inhibitor verapamil synergized significantly the toxicity of MAL but only negligibly CF and TBF ***,silencing of two TcABCC genes by rNAi revealed a significant increase in susceptibility to *** contrast,we did not observe a significant increase in insecticide-induced mortalities when knocking down TcABC genes in larvae treated with CF or TBF,although they were upregulated in response to insecticide *** results suggest that two pleiotropic ABCC transporters expressed in metabolic and excretory tissues contribute to the elimination of MAL.

realizing the full potential of ultrahigh-intensity lasers for particle and radiation generation will require multi-beam arrangements due to technology ***,we investigate how to optimize their coupling with solid ***,we show that overlapping two intense lasers in a mirror-like configuration onto a solid with a large preplasma can greatly improve the generation of hot electrons at the target front and ion acceleration at the target *** underlying mechanisms are analyzed through multidimensional particle-in-cell simulations,revealing that the self-induced magnetic fields driven by the two laser beams at the target front are susceptible to reconnection,which is one possible mechanism to boost electron *** addition,the resistive magnetic field generated during the transport of the hot electrons in the target bulk tends to improve their *** simulations also indicate that such effects can be further enhanced by overlapping more than two laser beams.
