Phosphogypsum Utilization Part Ⅲ:as Adhesive Filler and Composite Materials

The aim of this work is to make use of phosphogypsum (PG) waste material, which is produced in phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizer manufactures. A number of wood adhesive formulations based on polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) polymer and phosphogypsum as a filler have been prepared. using different percentages of phosphogypsum, ranging between 5-20 wt pct. The prepared formulations were tested for adhesion strength and compared with both natural and pure gypsum fillers. The results indicate that PG improves the adhesion strength when 5 wt pct added, and that may be due to filling the porous surface of wood with the fine particles of PG, as well as coating the particles of the filler (PG) with PVAc units. Also, a number of formulations based on urea-formaldehyde polymer have been prepared using phosphogypsum as an active filler in the ratio of 40-75 wt pct to prepare composite materials used for some decoration purposes and construction. Mechanical, physical, and thermal properties of these formulations were studied. Also, the activation energy was calculated. The results indicate that PG without acid hardener can be used for preparation of composite materials based on urea-formaldehyde between 40-63.64 wt pct for construction purposes in the humid atmosphere, while between 63.64-75 wt pct for decoration purposes. The improvement of the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of the composite material may be attributed to the simultaneous hydration hardening action of phosphogypsum and the presence of 0.8% P_2O_5. These effects act as an active hardener for urea-formaldehyde resin and accelerate the cross-linking and network formation reinforced by the fine dusty inorganic particles of PG. The advantage of this method is to prepare composite material gypsum-urea-formaldehyde, which achieves the utilization of large amount of PG, reducing the price of the main product phosphate, minimizing the pollution and producing new materials which possess high thermal resistanc

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Sanguisorbae Radix on contact dermatitis(CD).Methods:Mice were sensitized by painting 30μL of 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene(DNFB)onto each ear for 3 *** days later,mice were challenged by painting with 50μL of DNFB onto the shaved dorsum every 2 *** Radix methanol extract(MESR)was applied onto the shaved dorsum every 2 *** effects of MESR on skin thickness,skin weights,histopathological changes,skin lesions and cytokine production in DNFB-induced CD mice were investigated,as well as its effects on body weights and spleen/body weight ***:Topical application of MESR effectively inhibited enlargement of skin thickness and weight(Pyperplasia,spongiosis and immune cell infiltration induced by DNFB in inflamed tissues and improved lesions on dorsum skin in CD ***,treatment with MESR suppressed the increase in the levels of tumor necrosis factor α(TNF-α,Py weight gain or spleen/body weight ***:These data suggest that MESR acts as an anti-inflammatory agent that decreases the production of TNF-α and IFN-γ,resulting in reductions of skin lesions and histopathological changes in inflamed skin tissues.

The radioisotope X-ray fluorescence method was applied to studies of the provenance of the ceramics fragments originated from the Mar-Takla site in Syria. The samples were irradiated 1000s by a 109Cd radioisotope source and 13 elements (Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Zn, Ga, As, Rb, Sr, y, Zr, Nb, and Pb) were determined in 35 samples. The data were subjected to two multivariate statistical methods, cluster and principal components analysis (PCA). It was shown from the combination of the statistical techniques and the determination of elemental composition of the samples that 94% of the ceramic samples analyzed can be considered to be manufactured using two sources of raw materials.

Free-field attenuation of earmuffs and earplugs both singly and in combination

This article deals with subjective measurements of attenuation characteristic of three earmuffs (A, B, C) and two earplugs (foam and molded). The measurement was carried out through the real-ear attenuation at threshold (REAT) under freefield condition. The five devices were examined singly, and four of them in combination. The performance of double hearing protection (earplug plus earmuff)were investigated experimentally using the same method for a number of combinations. All tests were conducted on 7 subjects, and two replications per subject. The obtained data of the earmuffs tested show that earmuff (A) posscsses the lowest attenuation and is characterized by highest standard deviation. On the other hand, the foam plug provides the higher attenuation and the lower standard deviation. When the foam plug was combined with either carmuff (B or C) an improvement of attenuation was similar, i. e. the choice of earmuff is not important. This combination yields higher attenuation than that produces for either device alone, but does not simply yield overall attenuation equal to the sum of the individual of each device. However, when situation was reversed, the combination of either earplug (foam or molded) with single earmuff yields variation in attenuation below 2 kHz. At and above 2 kHz, the combination results were comparcd to the bone conduction limits which was reported by different authors. At these frequencies, all tests of plug plus earmuff combinations that were studied provided attenuation approximately equal to the bone conduction limits of human skull. Finally, the attenuation estimates derived in this study werc less than comparable data published by the respective manufacturers.

The Risk of Milrinone Use in Severe Neurological Insult and Stunned Myocardium

Acute neurological injuries cause catecholamine-induced cardiac damage and can result in or ex-acerbate preexisting cardiac failure. Milrinone (primacor) has been effective in the treatment of cardiac failure as well as cerebral vasospasm. We would like to present the outcomes of milrinone use in patients with major neurological injuries and preexisting compromised myocardial function. Four patients, age y/old, three women (two postpartum) and one man, will be presented. Two were diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) coupled with severe vasospasm;one had status epilepticus (SE);and one had cerebral ischemia (CVA) due to carotid artery occlusion. All patients had cardiomyopathy with EF ycardia, three severe and one mild. In two patients milrinone had to be discontinued due to the persistent hypotension. In our experience, use of milrinone drip in patients with preexisting cardiomyopathy led to hypotension and tachycardia, and brought about the need to increase or add new pressors, which in turn exacerbated catecholamine-induced myocardial injury.

Recently,an investigation into preventive measures for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has garnered considerable ***,strategies for the proactive prevention of viral pathogens have also attracted significant interest in the field of wearable devices and electronic textiles research,particularly due to their potential applications in personal protective *** this study,we introduce smart textiles designed with optimized piezoelectric devices that exhibit antifouling performance against microorganisms and actively inactivate *** active-type smart textiles,which incorporate advanced lead zirconate titanate(PZT)ceramics,a stretchable interconnector array,and polymeric fabric,demonstrate effective antifouling capabilities,detaching approximately90%of Escherichia coli and75%of ***,they inactivate viruses,releasing~26.8 ng of N protein from ruptured SARS-CoV-2,using ultrasonic waves within the wearable *** results show that piezoelectric smart textiles significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19 by leveraging the electrical and acoustic properties of PZT ceramics.
