Antimicrobial properties of dental cements modified with zein-coated magnesium oxide nanoparticles

The aim of this study was to test the antimicrobial properties of dental cements modified with magnesium oxide(mgO)nanoparticles.Zein-modified mgO nanoparticles(zmgO)in concentrations(0.0,0.3,0.5,and 1.0%)were mixed with dental cements(Fuji II,Rely X Temp E,Ionoglass Cem,Es Temp NE,and System P link).Eight discs were fabricated from each zmgO-cement pair for a total of 32 specimens for each cement.Characterization of the dental cements incorporating zmgO was done by X-ray Diffraction(XRD)and Field Emission Scanning Electron microscopy(FESEm).The antimicrobial properties of the mixtures were tested using direct contact and agar diffusion assays against Streptococcus mutans,Staphylococcus aureus,Enterococcus faecalis,and Candida albicans.Data was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance and LSD post hoc test at 0.05 significance level.XRD spectra showed sharp peaks of zmgO indicating its high crystalline nature,while the amorphous dental cements with zmgO had broad peaks.FESEm analysis showed a uniform distribution of the zmgO nanoparticles in the cement.There were significant inhibition zone values associated with all concentrations of zmgO-cement mixtures tested compared to controls(pmgO groups compared to controls for all microorganisms.The effect was most prominent with Rely X against C.albicans and S.aureus.Dental cements containing zmgO showed significant antimicrobial properties that were dependent on the specific initial cement substrate.

An autonomous microgrid that runs on renewable energy sources is presented in this article.It has a supercon-ducting magnetic energy storage(SmES)device,wind energy-producing devices,and an energy storage battery.However,because such microgrids are nonlinear and the energy they create varies with time,controlling and managing the energy inside them is a difficult issue.Fractional-order proportional integral(FOPI)controller is recommended for the current research to enhance a standalone microgrid’s energy management and performance.The suggested dedicated control for the SmES comprises two loops:the outer loop,which uses the FOPI to regulate the DC-link voltage,and the inner loop,responsible for regulating the SmES current,is constructed using the intelligent FOPI(iFOPI).The FOPI+iFOPI parameters are best developed using the dandelion optimizer(DO)approach to achieve the optimum performance.The suggested FOPI+iFOPI controller’s performance is contrasted with a conventional PI controller for variations in wind speed and microgrid load.The optimal FOPI+iFOPI controller manages the voltage and frequency of the load.The behavior of the microgrid as a reaction to step changes in load and wind speed was measured using the proposed controller.mATLAB simulations were used to evaluate the recommended system’s performance.The results of the simulations showed that throughout all interruptions,the recommended microgrid provided the load with AC power with a constant amplitude and frequency.In addition,the required load demand was accurately reduced.Furthermore,the microgrid functioned incredibly well despite SmES and varying wind speeds.Results obtained under identical conditions were compared with and without the best FOPI+iFOPI controller.When utilizing the optimal FOPI+iFOPI controller with SmES,it was found that the microgrid performed better than the microgrid without SmES.

Assessment of Heavy metals Contamination of Topsoil and Street Dust around Cement Factory in Southern Jordan

Evaluation of assessment of the metal processes governing the metals distribution in soil and dust samples is very significant and protects the health of human and ecological system. Recently, special attention has given to the assessment of metals pollution impact on soil and dust within industrial areas. This study aims to assess the metal contamination levels in the topsoil and street dust around the cement factory in Qadissiya area, southern Jordan. The levels of seven metals (namely Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, Cd, and mn) were analyzed using Flame Atomic Absorption Spec-trophotometer (FAAS) to monitor, evaluate, and to compare topsoil and road dust pollution values of metals of the different types of urban area. The physicochemical parameters which believed to affect the mobility of metals in the soil of the study area were determined such as pH, EC, TOm, CaCO3 and CEC. The levels of metal in soil samples are greater on the surface but decrease in the lower part as a result of the basic nature of soil. The mean values of the metals in soil can be arranged in the following order: Zn > Pb > mn > Fe > Cu > Cr > Cd. The relatively high concentration of metals in the soil sample was attributed to anthropogenic activities such as traffic emissions, cement factory and agricultural activities. Correlation coefficient analysis and the spatial distribution of indices and the results of statistical analysis indicate three groups of metals: Fe and mn result by natural origin, Zn, Pb, Cu and Zn result by anthropogenic origin (mainly motor vehicle traffic and abrasion of tires) while Cd is mixed origin. The higher content level values of metals of anthropogenic source in soil samples indicate that it is a source of contamination of air in the studied area. .

Selecting the best type of equipment among available switches with different prices and reliability levels is a significant challenge in distribution system planning.In this paper,the optimal type of switches in a radial distribution system is selected by considering the total cost and reliability criterion and using the weighted augmented epsilon constraint method and combinatorial optimization.A new index is calculated to assess the robustness of each Pareto solution.moreover,for each failure,repair time is considered based on historical data.monte Carlo simulations are used to consider the switch failure uncertainty and fault repair time uncertainty in the model.The proposed framework is applied to an RTBS Bus-2 test system.Furthermore,the model is also applied to an industrial system to verify the proposed method’s excellent performance in larger practical engineering problems.

The demand for the telecommunication services,such as IP telephony,has increased dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.IP tele-phony should be enhanced to provide the expected quality.One of the issues that should be investigated in IP telephony is bandwidth utilization.IP telephony pro-duces very small speech samples attached to a large packet header.The header of the IP telephony consumes a considerable share of the bandwidth allotted to the IP telephony.This wastes the network's bandwidth and inﬂuences the IP telephony quality.This paper proposes a mechanism(called Smallerize)that reduces the bandwidth consumed by both the speech sample and the header.This is achieved by assembling numerous IP telephony packets in one header and use the header'sﬁelds to carry the speech sample.Several metrics have been used to measure the achievement Smallerize mechanism.The number of calls has been increased by 245.1%compared to the typical mechanism.The bandwidth saving has also reached 68%with the G.28 codec.Therefore,Smallerize is a possible mechanism to enhance bandwidth utilization of the IP telephony.

Numerical modeling of destress blasting for strata separation

Destress blasting(DB)implemented along the perimeter of safety pillars is a special application of destressing in coal longwall mining.The goal is to separate relatively more deformed mined areas from safety pillars,such as shaft pillars or cross-cut pillars,to reduce the transfer of high stresses to the protective pillar.This case study aims to numerically simulate selected destress blasts in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin and examine its impact on stress transfer to the safety pillar area.To separate the area between the protective pillar and the longwall(LW),two fans of five 93-mm blast holes(length of 93e100 m)were drilled from the gate roads into the overburden strata.Each set of blast holes was fired separately in two stages without time delay.The explosive charge(gelatin-type of explosive)of each stage is 3450 kg.The two DB stages were fired when the longwall face was approximately 158 m and 152 m away from the blast.A 3D mine-wide model is built and validated with in situ stress measured with hydrofracturing.mining and destressing in three 5-m thick coal seams are simulated in the region.Numerical modeling of DB is successfully conducted using a rock fragmentation factor a of 0.05 and a stress reduction/dissipation factor β of 0.95.Buffering of transfer of additional stress from the mining area into the safety pillar is evaluated by comparison of yielding volume before and after DB.It is shown that yielding volume drops after DB by nearly 80%in the area of the destressing panel and near the safety shaft pillar.

Long-term continuous health care monitoring,using wearable technologies has received considerable interest due to the significant contribution of wearables to the diagnosis of diseases and identification of health conditions.Fibers have been widely applied in human societies due to their unique advantages,including stretchability,small diameters,high dynamic bending elasticity,high length-to-width ratios,and mechanical strength.A new generation of fiber-based electrodes is being integrated into smart textiles and wearables for continuous long-term biosignal monitoring.Dry fiber-based electrodes are breathable,flexible,and durable,unlike conventional disposable gel electrodes,which are difficult to employ for long-term applications because of skin irritation and allergic responses caused by their moist and adhesive interface with the skin.In this review,we provide a concise summary of recent breakthroughs in the design,and manufacturing of dry fiber-based electrodes for electrophysiology applications,with a particular emphasis on applications in electrocardiography,electromyography,and electroencephalography.Focusing on numerous features of electroactive fiber materials,fiber processing,electrode fabrication,scaled-up manufacturing,standardization of testing and performance criteria,we discuss current limitations and provide an outlook for the future development of this field.

Health care has become an essential social-economic concern for all stakeholders(e.g.,patients,doctors,hospitals etc.),health needs,private care and the elderly class of society.The massive increase in the usage of health care Internet of things(IoT)applications has great technological evolvement in human life.There are various smart health care services like remote patient monitoring,diagnostic,disease-specific remote treatments and telemedicine.These applications are available in a split fashion and provide solutions for variant diseases,medical resources and remote service management.The main objective of this research is to provide a management platform where all these services work as a single unit to facilitate the users.The ontological model of integrated healthcare services is proposed by getting requirements from various existing healthcare services.There were 26 smart health care services and 26 smart health care services to classify the knowledge-based ontological model.The proposed ontological model is derived from different classes,relationships,and constraints to integrate health care services.This model is developed using Protégébased on each interrelated/correlated health care service having different values.Semantic querying SPARQL protocol and RDF query language(SPARQL)were used for knowledge acquisition.The Pellet Reasoner is used to check the validity and relations coherency of the proposed ontology model.Comparative to other smart health care services integration systems,the proposed ontological model provides more cohesiveness.

Due to unforeseen climate change,complicated chronic diseases,and mutation of viruses’hospital administration’s top challenge is to know about the Length of stay(LOS)of different diseased patients in the hospitals.Hospital management does not exactly know when the existing patient leaves the hospital;this information could be crucial for hospital management.It could allow them to take more patients for admission.As a result,hospitals face many problems managing available resources and new patients in getting entries for their prompt treatment.Therefore,a robust model needs to be designed to help hospital administration predict patients’LOS to resolve these issues.For this purpose,a very large-sized data(more than 2.3 million patients’data)related to New-York Hospitals patients and containing information about a wide range of diseases including Bone-marrow,Tuberculosis,Intestinal Transplant,mental illness,Leukaemia,Spinal cord injury,Trauma,Rehabilitation,Kidney and Alcoholic Patients,HIV Patients,malignant Breast disorder,Asthma,Respiratory distress syndrome,etc.have been analyzed to predict the LOS.We selected six machine learning(mL)models named:multiple linear regression(mLR),Lasso regression(LR),Ridge regression(RR),Decision tree regression(DTR),Extreme gradient boosting regression(XGBR),and Random Forest regression(RFR).The selected models’predictive performance was checked using R square andmean square error(mSE)as the performance evaluation criteria.Our results revealed the superior predictive performance of the RFRmodel,both in terms of RS score(92%)and mSE score(5),among all selected models.By Exploratory data analysis(EDA),we conclude that maximumstay was between 0 to 5 days with the meantime of each patient 5.3 days and more than 50 years old patients spent more days in the hospital.Based on the average LOS,results revealed that the patients with diagnoses related to birth complications spent more days in the hospital than other diseases.This finding could help predict the future length of hospital sta

Optimization of Interactive Videos Empowered the Experience of Learning management System

The Learning management system(LmS)is now being used for uploading educational content in both distance and blended setups.LmS platform has two types of users:the educators who upload the content,and the students who have to access the content.The students,usually rely on text notes or books and video tutorials while their exams are conducted with formal methods.Formal assessments and examination criteria are ineffective with restricted learning space which makes the student tend only to read the educational contents and videos instead of interactive mode.The aim is to design an interactive LmS and examination video-based interface to cater the issues of educators and students.It is designed according to Human-computer interaction(HCI)principles to make the interactive User interface(UI)through User experience(UX).The interactive lectures in the form of annotated videos increase user engagement and improve the self-study context of users involved in LmS.The interface design defines how the design will interact with users and how the interface exchanges information.The findings show that interactive videos for LmS allow the users to have a more personalized learning experience by engaging in the educational content.The result shows a highly personalized learning experience due to the interactive video and quiz within the video.
