Th. 300±20 Ma anomalously radioactive trach.tes of Wadi El Kareim, central Eastern Desert, are a significant example of U-mineralization related to th. alkaline volcanics in Egypt. Extensive portable gamma-ray spectrometric data h.s been utilized to identify geological factors controlling uranium mobility in th. geological units along th. th.ee detailed study locations of Kab Al-Abyad, South.Wadi(W) Al-Tarafawy and W. Al-Farkh.h. th.ir eT h.eU ratios averaging around 4.1, 3.7 and 5.6 respectively. Quantitative analysis with.th. integration of mobility maps and geological studies suggest two systems controlling U-migration with.n th. geological units(confined system and unconfined system). In th. confined system, th. syngenetically formed U h.ve experienced mobility after leach.ng and are redistributed in th. presence of an incorporation carrier during transportation(probably as carbonate complexes). Th.n th. retardant for uranium is ach.eved by sorption or by coprecipitation with.th. aid of Fe oxy-h.droxide, and finally th. formation of immobile secondary U-bearing minerals takes place along a lith.geoch.mical trap. In contrast to th. confined system, th. unconfined one is basically lacking th. lith.geoch.mical trap wh.ch.influences th. final accumulation of U-bearing minerals. Th. radioactivity of th. trach.te rocks arises from th. radioactive minerals uranoph.ne and betauranoph.ne with.U-and/or Th.bearing minerals samarskite, Th.rich.REE silicates, monazite and allanite.

Wh.n th. pore pressure in a porous rock ch.nges, stress arch.ng will occur with.n th. rock and th. surrounding region. Stress arch.ng ratio is defined as th. total stress ch.nges in th. porous rock to th. pore pressure ch.nge in th. region. Th. region may h.ve th. same or different elastic moduli with.th. surrounding rock, wh.ch.is usually referred to as inclusion or inh.mogeneity. Stress arch.ng is responsible for many geomechanical problems encountered during production or injection; in addition, it is a crucial parameter in stress estimation during field development. Th.s paper aims to present laboratory measurements of vertical stress arch.ng ratio in a material surrounding th. inclusion(inh.mogeneity).To th. auth.rs’ knowledge, few laboratory experiments h.ve been reported on direct measurement of stress arch.ng. Th. inclusion is a cylindrical sandstone(44 mm in diameter and 50 mm in h.igh.)embedded in a larger cylindrical sandstone(150 mm in diameter and 154 mm in h.igh.), both.of wh.ch.are made synth.tically. Th.se two parts are separated and sealed by a internal polyureth.ne *** stress ch.nges are recorded by a mini h.draulic sensor embedded in surrounding rock. Laboratory results are compared to th.se obtained by numerical models. Th.se models are ch.cked with.analytical formulations. Th. results of numerical models sh.w a good agreement with.laboratory *** numerical results also indicate th.t th. sensor response is affected by elastic properties of th. internal sleeve. According to th. sensitivity analysis performed, in th. absence of th. internal sleeve,properties of th. inclusion h.ve significant effects on th. surrounding stress arch.ng induced.

AIMTo determine th. accuracy of fractional excretion of sodium (FeNa) in th. diagnosis of h.patorenal syndrome (h.S). METh.DSEigh.y-eigh. liver transplantation candidates with.renal dysfunction and/or proteinuria were included in th. study sample. Th. baseline ch.racteristics of th. patients were obtained. All th. 88 patients underwent ioth.lamate glomerular filtration rate testing, 24-h.urine collection for urinary sodium and protein excretions, random urine for sodium and creatinine testing, and percutaneous kidney biopsy. FeNa was calculated using th. equation [(urine sodium × serum creatinine)/(serum sodium × urine creatinine)] × 100%. Diuretic use was recorded among th. participants. Patients on renal replacement th.rapy were not included in th. original sample. RESULTSSeventy-seven (87%) of th. 88 patients h.d FeNa P = 0.4). FeNa P = 0.47). Calculated positive predictive value and negative predictive value for FeNa P = 0.41). CONCLUSIONFeNa 1%.
