One-step solution combustion synthesis of micro-nano-scale porous Cu/CeO_(2)with enhanced photocatalytic properties

The Cu/CeO_(2)nanoporous composite material was prepared via a one-step and energy-saving method of solution combustion synthesis(SCS).The phase composition,surface morphology and optical characteristics of Cu/CeO_(2)were studied.The results show that the SCS products are composed of cubic fluorite CeO_(2)and Cu.Due to the generation and escape of gas during the synthetic reaction,the SCS CeO_(2)shows porous structure,in which the mesopores(diameter 10-17 nm)nest in the wall of large pores(diameter80-300 nm).X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)outcomes indicate that the oxygen vacancy concentration of CeO_(2)increases(18.97%-30.93%)with the increase of Cu concentration.The decoration of Cu greatly enhances the catalytic activity of CeO_(2)nanomaterials.30 wt%Cu/CeO_(2)composite material shows the best photocatalytic activities for the degradation of methyl orange(MO)(95.99%),which is about 4.3times that of CeO_(2)at the same time(120 min).UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS)results show that the semiconductor band gap is reduced with the addition of metallic Cu,which leads to the enhancement of photocatalytic activity.The free radical trapping experiments demonstrate that·O_(2)-and h+are the main active species in the photocatalytic degradation of MO.Based on the above results,a hypothesized mechanism for enhanced photocatalysis of Cu/CeO_(2)nanomaterials was proposed:the porous structure provides more reactive sites and channels for mass transfer,and the presence of metallic Cu improves the oxygen vacancy concentration of CeO_(2)and then promotes charge-carrier separation,which helps enhance the photocatalytic performance of Cu/CeO_(2).

Hybrid Power Bank Deployment Model for Energy Supply Coverage Optimization in Industrial Wireless Sensor Network

Energy supply is one of the most critical challenges of wireless sensor networks(WSNs)and industrial wireless sensor networks(IWSNs).While research on coverage optimization problem(COP)centers on the network’s monitoring coverage,this research focuses on the power banks’energy supply coverage.The study of 2-D and 3-D spaces is typical in IWSN,with the realistic environment being more complex with obstacles(i.e.,machines).A 3-D surface is the field of interest(FOI)in this work with the established hybrid power bank deployment model for the energy supply COP optimization of IWSN.The hybrid power bank deployment model is highly adaptive and flexible for new or existing plants already using the IWSN system.The model improves the power supply to a more considerable extent with the least number of power bank deployments.The main innovation in this work is the utilization of a more practical surface model with obstacles and training while improving the convergence speed and quality of the heuristic algorithm.An overall probabilistic coverage rate analysis of every point on the FOI is provided,not limiting the scope to target points or areas.Bresenham’s algorithm is extended from 2-D to 3-D surface to enhance the probabilistic covering model for coverage measurement.A dynamic search strategy(DSS)is proposed to modify the artificial bee colony(ABC)and balance the exploration and exploitation ability for better convergence toward eliminating NP-hard deployment problems.Further,the cellular automata(CA)is utilized to enhance the convergence speed.The case study based on two typical FOI in the IWSN shows that the CA scheme effectively speeds up the optimization process.Comparative experiments are conducted on four benchmark functions to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the ABC and gbest-guided ABC(GABC)algorithms.The results show that the proposed energy coverage optimization method based on the hybrid power bank deployment model generates

Transcriptome Analysis of Heterosis in Survival in the Hybrid Progenies of‘Haida No.1’and Orange-Shelled Lines of the Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas

Heterosis has been exploited to enhance the yield and adaptability in various shellfish species;however,the molecular basis of it remains unclear.The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is one of the most economically important aquaculture species,and its productive traits can be improved by hybridization.Here,an intraspecific cross between orange shell(O,10th generation)and‘Haida No.1’(H,13th generation)of C.gigas was performed to assess the heterosis of survival trait.Survival rates of hybrid family(OH)and inbred families(HH and OO)were compared at larval stage,and eyed-pediveliger larvae of three families were subjected to transcriptome analysis.The analysis results of best-parent heterosis and mid-parent heterosis showed that the hybrid family exhi-bited a high heterosis in survival relative to the parental families.The OH-M(OH vs.OO)and OH-P(OH vs.HH)had 425 and 512 dif-ferentially expressed genes(DEGs),respectively.Functional enrichment analysis of these DEGs revealed that the significantly enrich-ed genes function in virion binding,C-type lectin receptor signaling pathway,cellular defense response and other immune-related pro-cesses,which involves perlucin-like protein,CD209 antigen-like protein,ZNFX1,caspase-3 and acan genes.These differentially ex-pressed genes in OH-M and OH-P,together with the immune-related processes mentioned above may play an important role in the larval survival of C.gigas.In addition,three genes(CYP450,fucolectin and perlucin-like)are associated with the orange shell and low survival of maternal oyster OO.These findings provide support for the application of hybrid with superior survival and will facilitate the understanding of heterosis formation in the Pacific oyster.

Efficient extraction of phenol from wastewater by ionic micro-emulsion method:Anionic and cationic

Phenolic wastewater is one of the priorities in the field of wastewater treatment,which poses a serious threat to the human health and nature environment.In this paper,cationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)and anionic sodium oleate(Na OL)microemulsions were utilized to extract phenol from the wastewater.The optimal extraction factors were investigated by exploring the effects of microemulsion composition ratio and extraction conditions on the phenol extraction performance.Furthermore,the enhanced extraction mechanism of phenol by cations microemulsions is illustrated by studying the extraction process of cationic and anionic microemulsions in the extraction of phenol.The optimum components were obtained:surfactant concentration of 0.2 mol·L^(-1),isoamyl alcohol volume of 30%,internal aqueous phase concentration of CTAB microemulsion of 0.05 mol·L^(-1),and internal aqueous phase concentration of Na OL microemulsion of 0.09 mol·L^(-1).The extraction efficiencies were 96.44%and 82.0%when using CTAB and Na OL microemulsions under optimal conditions(water-emulsion ratio of 5,contact time of 9 min,extraction temperature of 298.15 K,and p H of 9),confirming the enhanced extraction of phenol by CTAB cationic microemulsion.It was analyzed that the enhanced extraction of CTAB microemulsion was due to the electrostatic adsorption of cations with phenol root ions.

Water diversion and agricultural production:Evidence from China

Water diversion can alleviate water shortages caused by the uneven distribution of water resources.China’s Southto-North Water Diversion Project(SNWD)is the largest water diversion project worldwide.Based on the prefecturelevel data of China’s Huang-Huai-Hai Plain from 2000 to 2020,this study employs an empirical strategy of Differencesin-Differences(DID)to analyze the impact of SNWD on agricultural production.The results show that SNWD has significantly increased agricultural production,measured by the agricultural value added.The estimated results of the benchmark model remain robust when the contemporaneous policy is addressed,an alternative outcome is used,subsamples are estimated,and alternative estimation techniques are employed.This study argues that the potential impact mechanism may be that SNWD significantly increases the acreage for cash crops but reduces that for grain crops.Heterogeneity analysis shows that in prefectures with high temperature or land potential,SNWD’s impact on agricultural value added is relatively low.In contrast,in areas with prolonged sunshine or high slopes,SNWD’s impact on agricultural value added is relatively large.Given the low added value of grain crops,the government should consider strengthening food security by subsidizing water supply to sustain grain production.

Model-data-driven P-wave impedance inversion using ResNets and the normalized zero-lag cross-correlation objective function

Model-driven and data-driven inversions are two prominent methods for obtaining P-wave impedance,which is significant in reservoir description and identification.Based on proper initial models,most model-driven methods primarily use the limited frequency bandwidth information of seismic data and can invert P-wave impedance with high accuracy,but not high resolution.Conventional data-driven methods mainly employ the information from well-log data and can provide high-accuracy and highresolution P-wave impedance owing to the superior nonlinear curve fitting capacity of neural networks.However,these methods require a significant number of training samples,which are frequently insufficient.To obtain P-wave impedance with both high accuracy and high resolution,we propose a model-data-driven inversion method using Res Nets and the normalized zero-lag cross-correlation objective function which is effective for avoiding local minima and suppressing random noise.By using initial models and training samples,the proposed model-data-driven method can invert P-wave impedance with satisfactory accuracy and resolution.Tests on synthetic and field data demonstrate the proposed method’s efficacy and practicability.

Bifurcation control of solid angle car-following model through a time-delay feedback method

In order to alleviate unstable factor-caused bifurcation and reduce oscillations in traffic flow,a feedback control with consideration of time delay is designed for the solid angle model(SAM).The stability and bifurcation condition of the new SAM is derived through linear analysis and bifurcation analysis,and then accurate range of stable region is obtained.In order to explore the mechanism of the influence of multiple parameter combinations on the stability of controlled systems,a definite integral stabilization method is provided to determine the stable interval of time delay and feedback gain.Numerical simulations are explored to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model,which also demonstrate that feedback gain and delay are two key factors to alleviate traffic congestion in the SAM.

Self-assembly of phosphorylated peptide driven by Dy3+

Nature chooses phosphorylation as a key modification to modulate and program the functions of proteins.Various phosphorylated peptides(PPs) have been widely identified and investigated by biologists, but the possibility that PPs could become a building unit for artificial materials is neglected. Here we report for the first time a supramolecular assembly of PPs with the assistance of dysprosium ions(Dy3+). Dy3+bridges multiple phosphate groups in double-phosphorylated peptides(di-PPs), and braid these peptide chains into nanofibers. The assembly occurs inside nanochannels and blocks the channels, leading to prominent “ON–OFF” switching in transmembrane ionic current. The di-PPs’ assembling process could be dynamically regulated by the addition or deletion of phosphate groups under the control of kinases or phosphatases. This study proves the huge potential of PPs being utilized as materials via self-assembling,which will promote the design of novel bio-inspired artificial materials and devices.

Performance Evaluation of Three-Dimensional UWB Real-Time Locating Auto-Positioning System for Fire Rescue

Fire rescue challenges and solutions have evolved from straightfor-ward plane rescue to encompass 3D space due to the rise of high-rise city buildings.Hence,this study facilitates a system with quick and simplified on-site launching and generates real-time location data,enabling fire rescuers to arrive at the intended spot faster and correctly for effective and precise rescue.Auto-positioning with step-by-step instructions is proposed when launching the locating system,while no extra measuring instrument like Total Station(TS)is needed.Real-time location tracking is provided via a 3D space real-time locating system(RTLS)constructed using Ultra-wide Bandwidth technology(UWB),which requires electromagnetic waves to pass through concrete walls.A hybrid weighted least squares with a time difference of arrival(WLS/TDOA)positioning method is proposed to address real path-tracking issues in 3D space and to meet RTLS requirements for quick computing in real-world applications.The 3D WLS/TDOA algorithm is theoretically constructed with the Cramer-Rao lower bound(CRLB).The computing complexity is reduced to the lower bound for embedded hardware to directly compute the time differential of the arriving signals using the time-to-digital converter(TDC).The results of the experiments show that the errors are controlled when the positioning algorithm is applied in various complicated situations to fulfill the requirements of engineering applications.The statistical analysis of the data reveals that the proposed UWB RTLS auto-positioning system can track target tags with an accuracy of 0.20 m.

Recent progress in hydrodynamic characteristics research and application of annular centrifugal extractors

The annular centrifugal extractor(ACE)integrates mixing and separation.It has been widely used in many industrial fields because of its low residence time,compact structure,and high mass transfer efficiency.Most of the literature has focused on flow instabilities,flow visualization,and computational fluid dynamics simulations.More recently,research on hydrodynamic behavior and structural optimization has received widespread attention.With the development of ACE technology,applications have been broadened into several new areas.Hence,this paper reviews research progress regarding ACE in terms of hydrodynamic characteristics and the structural improvements.The latest applications covering hydrometallurgy,nuclear fuel reprocessing,bio-extraction,catalytic reaction,and wastewater treatment are presented.We also evaluate future work in droplet breakup and coalescence mechanisms,structural improvements specific to different process requirements,scaling-up methods,and stability and reliability after scaling-up.
