Topological edge states have crucial applications in the future nano spintronics *** this work,circularly polarized light is applied on the zigzag silicene-like nanoribbons resulting in the anisotropic chiral edge *** energy-dependent spin filter is designed based on the topological-insulator(TI)junctions with anisotropic chiral edge *** resonance transmission has been observed in the TI junctions by calculating the local current *** some strong Fabry–Perot resonances are found leading to the sharp transmission ***,the weak and asymmetric resonance corresponds to the broad transmission *** addition,a qualitative relation between the resonant energy separation TR and group velocity vf is derived:TR=πhvf n/L,that indicated TR is proportional to vf and inversely proportional to the length L of the *** different TR between the spin-up and spin-down cases results in the energyresolved spin filtering ***,the intensity of the circularly polarized light can modulate the group velocity ***,the intensity of circularly polarized light,as well as the conductor-length,play very vital roles in designing the energy-dependent spin *** the transmission gap root in the Fabry–Perot resonances,the thermoelectric(TE)property can be enhanced by adjusting the gap.A schedule to enhance the TE performance in the TI-junction is proposed by modulating the electric field(Ez).The TE dependence on Ez in the nanojunction is investigated,where the appropriate Ez leads to a very high spin thermopower and spin figure of *** TI junctions have potential usages in the nano spintronics and thermoelectric devices.

Floquet theorem is widely used in the light-driven systems. But many 2 D-materials models under the radiation are investigated with the high-frequency approximation, which may not be suitable for the practical experiment. In this work,we employ the non-perturbative Floquet method to strictly investigate the photo-induced topological phase transitions and edge states properties of graphene nanoribbons under the light irradiation of different frequencies(including both low and high frequencies). By analyzing the Floquet energy bands of ribbon and bulk graphene, we find the cause of the phase transitions and its relation with edge states. Besides, we also find the size effect of the graphene nanoribbon on the band gap and edge states in the presence of the light.

Stereotaxic instrument is an indispensable tool for numerous types of neuroscience studies and is routinely performed in neuroscience laboratories as part of a variety of experimental *** to the development of robotics and automation,the stereotaxic instrument for rodents has made great progress,while it is relatively backward and scarce for birds.A digital stereotaxic instrument for pigeons(Columba livia),a classic animal model for learning,memory and cognition,was developed in this *** performance was verified from three aspects including stereotaxic accuracy,stereotaxic stability and stereotaxic *** developed stereotaxic instrument has the following characteristics:(1)a digital positioning system was used,which is characterized by high stereotaxic accuracy;(2)a novel head-fixation system was developed to increase the adaptability of head-fixation;(3)a four-point fixation method was suggested,improving the stability of head-fixation;(4)the stereotaxic instrument has strong versatility,which can be suitable for a wide variety of ***,the proposed stereotaxic instrument has better positioning accuracy and stability,which will promote the study of neural mechanisms for pigeons.

A benthic harmful dinoflagellate bloom caused by Prorocentrum concavum occurred at Xincun Bay,a lagoon characterized by a tropical seagrass ecosystem in the southern China,in summer *** abiotic and biotic factors may affect the abundance dynamics of *** of the biotic factors,allelopathy,is known to be especially common among aquatic species and is suggested to be an economical and environmentally-friendly way to eliminate Benthic Harmful Algal Blooms(BHABs).To investigate the possible allelopathic interactions between seagrasses and ***,a field survey was conducted to study the cell densities of *** on four major substrates over 12 *** laboratory,fresh Enhalus acoroides leaves and a crude aqueous extract of dry *** leaves were added to the culture of *** respectively to assess possible effects on the growth and photosynthesis activities of *** *** results showed that the average abundance of *** on *** leaves was statistically lower than that on the sediment outside the seagrass meadow and that on Thalassia hemperichii *** the growth and photosynthesis activities of *** cells were inhibited in the two experiments,which can be attributed to the release and production of allelochemicals by *** results offer new insights into the interaction between the submerged seagrass *** and the benthic harmful algal bloom dinoflagellate ***,which can influence the abundance dynamics of *** and provide an alternative for reducing potential threat of BHABs.

Benthic dinoflagellates have attracted increasing attention in recent years because of their toxicity and ability to form extensive harmful algal *** producing palytoxin and its analogs,Gambierdiscus producing ciguatera toxins,and Prorocentrum producing okadaic acid and dinophysis toxins,have been concerned as serious human *** explored the benthic dinoflagellate biodiversity and distribution characteristics of a series of tropical reefs in 20-40-m water depth in wet season in the Zhongsha Islands in South China Sea using morphological,phylogenetic,and cell counting *** show that benthic dinoflagellates in the islands are rich in biodiversity and 15 species from genera Amphidinium,Coolia,Ostreopsis,and Prorocentrum were identifi ed:Amphidinium carterae,***,***,***,Coolia canariensis,***,***,***,Ostreopsis ***,Prorocentrum concavum,***,***,*** fmannianum,***,and *** them,*** is reported for the first time in Chinese *** abundance of benthic dinoflagellates was relatively low at 88-4345 cells/100 cm^(2) on sediment and 10-91 cells/g on *** and Amphidinium were the dominant and subdominant genera,*** is speculated that the low abundance of benthic dinoflagellates is closely related to the scarcity of macroalgae and stronger water motion at the depth>15 m in Zhongsha *** study expanded the study in biodiversity of benthic dinoflagellates in Chinese waters,and revealed the distribution characteristics of harmful benthic microalgae in reef habitats.

Nowadays,the massive consumption of fossil fuels and the resulting excessive emission of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))have broken the original carbon balance of nature,resulting in global warming and the consequent detrimental environmental *** address these issues,various initiatives have been proposed,among which CO_(2) cap-ture and utilization(CCU)is considered as the direct way to mitigate the accumulation of CO_(2) in the *** a plethora of CO_(2) capture reagents and utilization routes have been developed,the cost of CO_(2) capture reagents as well as the amount of CO_(2) utilization still encounters ***,CCU with solid wastes have attracted sustained attention due to its ability to synchronize CO_(2) fixation with solid wastes ***,the huge amount and low cost of the solid wastes can promote the economic fixation of CO_(2) and thus contribute significantly to the carbon *** the tremendous utility of this strategy,this review article summarizes the state-of-the-art of CO_(2) capture and utilization with solid wastes such as steel slag,concrete waste,fly ash,red mud,calcium carbide residue,and biomass *** three parts including CO_(2) mineralization,solid waste-based catalyst promoted CO_(2) transformation,and collaborative transformation of CO_(2) and solid waste are introduced according to the roles of solid waste in CO_(2) *** hope this review can arouse broad concern and spur further development in this field.

Enhanced piezoelectric response was usually achieved in(Bi_(0.5) Na_(0.5))TiO_(3)(BNT)-based ceramics with sacrifice of depolarization temperature T_(d),seriously limiting their usage range in electromechanical *** this work,we propose to explore piezoelectric anisotropy and domain engineering in compositionµstructure-controlled textured ceramics to resolve this issue.[001]c-textured 0.94(Bi_(0.5) Na_(0.5))TiO_(3)–0.06BaTiO_(3)(0.94BNT-0.06BT)ceramics with Lotgering factor F_(001)-91% were fabricated through homoepitaxial templated grain growth(TGG)via using 0.94BNT-0.06BT microplatelet *** textured samples exhibited more ordered domains with facilitated domain switching behavior,being consistent with saturated high polarization achieved at lower electric *** F_(001) to above 60%enables rapid enhancement of piezoelectric ***,compared to non-textured counterpart,the maximally textured ceramics exhibited-236%enhanced piezoelectric coefficient(d_(33)-302 pC/N)and-280% enhanced piezoelectric voltage coefficient(g_(33)-49.8×10^(−3)Vm/N),together with slightly increased depolarization temperature(T_(d)-106℃).Moreover,those values are approaching or even higher than the single-crystal *** work not only provides important guidelines for design and synthesis of novel textured ceramics with improved comprehensive electrical properties,but also can expand application fields of BNT-based ceramics.

Spatiotemporal variation of the loose deposits in Baisha River Basin after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake

Extensive landslides were triggered by the Wenchuan earthquake(in China)on 12 May 2008,causing a tremendous amount of loose material suspended on the hillslopes,likely to be eroded and transported by *** is of great significance to study the long-term variation of the quantity and spatiotemporal distribution of loose deposits after a great earthquake in order to understand the restoration process,to assess the risk of future soil erosion,including geological hazards,and to further develop ecological governance *** this study,information about the multi-temporal loose deposits on the ranges of the Baisha River Basin,an alpine valley near the epicenter,was extracted by objectoriented remote sensing interpretation,and analysis on their spatiotemporal variation showed that the earthquake in 2008 resulted in loose deposits covering an additional area of 81.09 km2,with a volume estimated at 0.357 billion *** five years after the earthquake,the vegetation had recovered rapidly,and the extent of the deposits was significantly *** 5 to 13 years after the earthquake,the vegetation continued to recover but at a slower rate and a decreasing trend in newly formed deposits was *** total area,volume and quantity of the loose deposits gradually *** geometric mean center of the loose deposits gradually moved back towards the upstream area after the earthquake and,by 2021,the mean center was about 4 km away from its pre-earthquake *** the mean center of the loose deposits in 2008 as the center,the deposits in the downstream area shrank significantly after the earthquake,but collapses and landslides of deposits persisted in the upstream area to the west-southwest,west-northwest and northnorthwest from the mean center,indicating future source areas of new loose deposits in the basin.

Piezoceramics with high and fatigue-resisted piezoelectric properties are strongly desired for actuator *** this work,textured Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)ceramics with Lotgering factor F_(001)∼98%were fabricated by templated grain growth ***[001]c-grain orientation(f∼90%and r∼0.22)of the textured ceramics effectively produced about 230%enhanced piezoelectric coefficient d_(33)^(∗)(i.e.,S_(max)/E_(max))and substantially improved unipolar electrical fatigue *** polarization P max and d_(33)^(∗)of the textured ceramics were nearly maintained up to 106 unipolar cycles,while 19%and 14%degradations were respectively observed from randomly oriented ***,normal-ized d_(33)^(∗)of the textured ceramics shows better unipolar fatigue resistance than those of piezoceramics reported *** lower bipolar strain asymmetryγs(∼4%)was observed from the textured samples fatigued after 106 unipolar cycles as compared toγs∼23%for randomly oriented *** charged defect accumulation model described the serious fatigue deteriorations in randomly ori-ented ceramics,the current work revealed that substantially enhanced unipolar fatigue resistance of the textured ceramics is mainly associated with the inherent fatigue anisotropy,weakened local bias fields owing to both enhanced domain mobility and lower defect density near grain boundaries/interfaces,and increased intrinsic contribution due to more tetragonal *** superior characteristics suggest the great potential of textured ceramics for high-performance and robust actuator applications.
