Several recent studies using either viral or transgenic mouse models have shown different results on whether the activation of parvalbumin-positive（PV~＋）neurons expressing channelrhodopsin-2（ChR2） in the primary visual cortex（V1） improves the orientation-and direction-selectivity of V1 neurons. Although this discrepancy was thoroughly discussed in a follow-up communication, the issue of using different models to express ChR2 in V1 was not mentioned. We found that ChR2 was expressed in retinal ganglion cells（RGCs） and V1 neurons in ChR2fl/~＋; PV-Cre mice. Our results showed that the activation of PV~＋RGCs using white drifting gratings alone significantly decreased the firing rates of V1 neurons and improved their direction-and orientation-selectivity. Longduration activation of PV~＋interneurons in V1 further enhanced the feature-selectivity of V1 neurons in anesthetized mice, confirming the conclusions from previous findings. These results suggest that the activation of both PV~＋RGCs and V1 neurons improves feature-selectivity in mice.

Spontaneous activity in the brain maintains an internal structured pattern that reflects the external environment,which is essential for processing information and developing perception and *** essential prerequisite of spontaneous activity for perception is the ability to reverberate external information,such as by *** its role in the processing of potentiation in mouse superior colliculus(SC)neurons is less ***,we used electrophysiological recording,optogenetics,and drug infusion methods to investigate the mechanism of potentiation in SC *** found that visual experience potentiated SC neurons several minutes later in different developmental stages,and the similarity between spontaneous and visually-evoked activity increased with *** eye-opening,activation of retinal ganglion cells that expressed ChR2 also induced the potentiation of spontaneous activity in the mouse *** was dependenton stimulus number and showed feature selectivity for direction and *** activation of parvalbumin neurons in the SC attenuated the potentiation induced by visual ***,potentiation in SC neurons was blocked by inhibiting the glutamate transporter *** results indicated that the potentiation induced by a visual stimulus might play a key role in shaping the internal representation of the environment,and serves as a carrier for short-term memory consolidation.

For the basins with debris flow development,its channel terrain exhibits a tortuous shape,which significantly restricts the movement of debris flows and leads to severe erosion effects on the concave ***,this study aims to analyze the shear force of debris flows within the bend *** established the relationship between the shear force and bend curvature through laboratory *** the long-term erosion by debris flows,the curvature radius of bends gradually increases,however,when this increasing trend reaches an equilibrium state with the intensity of debris flow discharge,there will be no significant change in curvature *** general,the activity pattern and discharges of debris flows would remain relatively ***,we can infer the magnitude of debris flow discharges from the terrain parameters of the bend channel.

The Ti-20Zr-6.5Al-4V(T20Z,wt%)alloy surface was treated by the process of laser surface *** evolution of microstructures and microhardness has been investigated by changing the laser power parameter from 120 to 240 *** laser-treated T20Z samples show two regions with distinctly different microstructural features,as compared with the untreated substrate:dense TiN dendrites and(α+β)-Ti(remelting zone,RMZ),nanoscaleαlaths doped with part of p phase(heat-affected zone,HAZ).The formation of TiN dendrites can be analyzed by a series of complex reactions during the process of melting and *** increase in laser power results in the increase in content of TiN dendrite which is mainly due to the increase in energy *** HAZ,the self-quenching effect leads to the formation of nanoscale a laths and the residue ofβ*** profile of different regions was measured from the surface to the interior,and the highest microhardness was obtained(~HV 916.8)in the RMZ,as the laser power was set to 240 *** the present study,we explained various microstructural characteristics induced by laser surface nitriding treatment.

BACKGROUND Cartilage tissue engineering is a promising strategy for treating cartilage *** formation by adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs),which are one type of seed cell used for cartilage tissue engineering,decreases in the late stage of induced chondrogenic differentiation in vitro,which seriously limits research on ADSCs and their *** To improve the chondrogenic differentiation efficiency of ADSCs in vitro,and optimize the existing chondrogenic induction *** Tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)inhibitor was added to chondrogenic culture medium,and then Western blotting,enzyme linked immunosorbent assay,immunofluorescence and toluidine blue staining were used to detect the cartilage matrix secretion and the expression of key proteins of nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB)signaling *** In this study,we found that the levels of TNF-αand matrix metalloproteinase 3 were increased during the chondrogenic differentiation of ***-αthen bound to its receptor and activated the NF-κB pathway,leading to a decrease in cartilage matrix synthesis and *** TNF-αwith its inhibitors etanercept(1μg/mL)or infliximab(10μg/mL)significantly restored matrix *** Therefore,this study developed a combination of ADSC therapy and targeted anti-inflammatory drugs to optimize the chondrogenesis of ADSCs,and this approach could be very beneficial for translating ADSC-based approaches to treat cartilage damage.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of artificial intelligence-assisted intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)plan optimization on the radiation doses received by the rectum and bladder as well as radiation-induced injuries in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.A total of 100 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer were enrolled and divided into a conventional IMRT group and an artificial intelligence-assisted IMRT *** results showed that in terms of the radiation doses to the rectum and bladder,all dosimetric parameters(such as mean dose,maximum dose,and volume-dose parameters,etc.)in the artificial intelligence-assisted group were significantly lower than those in the conventional group(p<0.05).Regarding radiation-induced injuries,the incidences and severities of both acute and late radiation-induced proctitis and cystitis in the artificial intelligence-assisted group were lower than those in the conventional group(p<0.05).These findings suggest that artificial intelligence-assisted IMRT plan optimization can effectively reduce the radiation doses to the rectum and bladder and decrease radiation-induced injuries in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer,which is expected to provide a more precise and safer treatment strategy for radiotherapy of locally advanced cervical ***,this study has limitations such as a limited sample size and being a single-center *** research with multi-center,large-sample,and more in-depth investigations is needed.

NiMo-based materials have been identified as potential candidates of Pt/C electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)due to appropriate binding energy to hydrogen,and good resistance to corrosive ***,little work has been carried out to enhance the catalytic performance in large-scale water-alkali *** NoMo amorphous coating,as a highefficient and cost-effective catalyst toward HER,was synthesized by a facile electrodeposition strategy in this *** effects of the pH value of electrolyte on the structure and HER activity of NiMo coating were *** as-prepared NiMo_((pH10))exhibited the highest HER activity with overpotentials of 63.9 and 157.1 mV(***,with 80%potential drop due to electrical resistance(iR)compensation)at the current density of-10 mA·cm^(-2)and-100 mA·cm^(-2).This NiMo_((pH10))coating also had excellent long-term durability of up to100 h stable operation under the constant current density of-100 mA·cm^(-2).The rapid HER kinetics and outstanding endurance can be ascribed to the NiMo compact coating with amorphous structures as well as good contact between NiMo coating and Ni foam substrate,endowing it grand feasibility in practical industrial applications.

Deep petroleum resources are stored under high temperature and pressure conditions,with the temperature having a significant influence on the properties of *** in-situ temperature-preserved coring(ITP-coring)devices were developed to assess deep petroleum reserves ***,hollow glass microspheres(HGMs)/silicone rubber(SR)composites that exhibit excellent thermal insulation properties were prepared as thermal insulation materials for deep ITP-coring *** mechanism and process of heat transfer in the composites were explored,as well as their other *** results show that the HGMs exhibit good compatibility with the SR *** the volume fraction of the HGMs is increased to 50%,the density of the HGMs/SR composites is reduced from 0.97 to 0.56 g/cm^(3).The HGMs filler introduces large voids into the composites,reducing their thermal conductivity to 0.11 W/m·*** addition of HGMs into the composites further enhances the thermal stability of the SR,wherein the higher the HGMs filler content,the better the thermal stability of the *** significantly enhance the mechanical strength of the *** increase the compressive strength of the composites by 828%and the tensile strength by 164%.Overall,HGMs improve the thermal insulation,pressure resistance,and thermal stability of HGMs/SR composites.
