Effects of location, orchard type, laying period and nest position on the reproductive performance of Turtle Doves(Streptopelia turtur) on intensively cultivated farmland

Background: Until recently little was known about factors affecting reproductive parameters of the Turtle Dove(Streptopelia turtur) on intensively cultivated farmland in the Mediterranean area. In this study, the reproductive parameters of this game species were evaluated in relation to location, orchard type, laying period and nest position in central ***: A total of 317 nests were found and analyzed across five breeding seasons(2004–2008) in the Haouz and Tadla regions, over two major agro-ecosystems made up of olive and orange orchards. Nest position, laying period, clutch size and the number of chicks hatched and fledged per nest were determined on 120 study plots. I used Generalized Linear Models(GLMs) with a Poisson distribution and a log link function, including the logarithm of the number of eggs in each clutch as an offset to model the number of chicks hatched and fledged per ***: Clutch-size was not affected by location, orchard type, laying period or nest position. The number of chicks hatched per nest differed between orchard types; they were greater in olive orchards(1.33 ± 0.06) than in orange ones(1.03 ± 0.08), whereas the number of chicks fledged per nest consistently differed with laying period and orchard type, which were higher in the early laying period(1.22 ± 0.07) than in the late period(0.93 ± 0.08) and higher in olive orchards(1.22 ± 0.06) than in orange orchards(0.90 ± 0.06). Neither location nor nest position were related to variation in the fledging success of the Turtle ***: Olive orchards and the early laying period confer better nesting conditions than orange orchards and the late laying period. Although nest position could be different in each orchard type, it did not affect the breeding success of the Turtle Dove, suggesting that factors other than tree characteristics are influential. Effects of human disturbance on nest placement of the woodpigeon (Columba palumbus): a case study from the Middle Atlas, Morocco

The woodpigeon(Columba palumbus)is a common and widespread bird in Morocco(North Africa).I examined,over 2 years(2010 and 2011),the breeding density and nest placement of this game species in relation to nest site habitat and degree of human *** study area was in the Middle Atlas Tighboula mountain forest,Morocco,in a disturbed and an undisturbed *** data collected in the 2 study sites,I aimed to identify the factors influencing the placement of nests within holm oak trees(Quercus rotundifolia)and their densities.I found that habitat structures,influenced by grazing disturbance,have affected nesting density and the location of nests of this *** place their nests in a higher position(3.42±0.19 m)when disturbance intensity is high and lower(1.68±0.1 m)when disturbance intensity is low,and show higher nesting density in less disturbed zone(3.1±0.4 nests/ha)than in highly disturbed zones(1.4±0.2 nests/ha).Grazing disturbance could pose a threat to population persistence at a broader scale and could potentially reduce the abundance of this species by altering the composition and the structure of the forest nesting *** multi-scale studies are needed to assess the effects of different levels of grazing disturbance on woodpigeon nest density and placement,and to enhance our knowledge of the breeding behavior of this game species under variable environments.

Development of an Internet and Fuzzy Based Control System of Manufacturing Process

The aim of this work is to develop an Internet and fuzzy based control and data acquisition system for an industrial process plant which can ensure remote running and fuzzy control of a cement factory. Cases studies of the proposed system application in three cement factories in Algeria, SCAEK（Setif）, SCIMAT（Batna）, and SCT（Tebessa）, are discussed. The remote process control consists of alarms generated during running of the processes while maintaining and synchronizing different regulation loops thus ensuring automatic running of processes smoothly. In addition, fuzzy control of the kiln and the other two mills ensures that the system is operational at all times with minimal downtime. The process control system contains different operator station（OP）, alarms table and a provision to monitor trends analysis. The operator can execute any operation according to his authorised access assigned by the system administrator using user administration tool. The Internet technology is used for human security by avoiding all times presence of operators at site for maintenance. Further, in case of a breakdown, the problem would be remotely diagnosed and resolved avoiding requirement of an expert on site thus eliminating traveling cost, security risks, visa formalities, etc. These trips are difficult to organize（costs, visas, risks）. So the enterprise can reduce downtimes and travel costs. In order to realize a process control system guided by operators in the main control room or through Internet, the process control is based on programming in PCS 7 utilizing Cemat library and Fuzzy Control＋＋ Siemens tools.

D-SS Frame:deep spectral-spatial feature extraction and fusion for classification of panchromatic and multispectral images

Facing the very high-resolution( VHR) image classification problem,a feature extraction and fusion framework is presented for VHR panchromatic and multispectral image classification based on deep learning techniques. The proposed approach combines spectral and spatial information based on the fusion of features extracted from panchromatic( PAN) and multispectral( MS) images using sparse autoencoder and its deep version. There are three steps in the proposed method,the first one is to extract spatial information of PAN image,and the second one is to describe spectral information of MS image. Finally,in the third step,the features obtained from PAN and MS images are concatenated directly as a simple fusion feature. The classification is performed using the support vector machine( SVM) and the experiments carried out on two datasets with very high spatial resolution. MS and PAN images from WorldView-2 satellite indicate that the classifier provides an efficient solution and demonstrate that the fusion of the features extracted by deep learning techniques from PAN and MS images performs better than that when these techniques are used separately. In addition,this framework shows that deep learning models can extract and fuse spatial and spectral information greatly,and have huge potential to achieve higher accuracy for classification of multispectral and panchromatic images.
