Interm.ttent fasting(IF)is an intervention that involves not only dietary m.dific-ations but also behavioral changes with the m.in core being a period of fasting alternating with a period of controlled *** duration of fasting differs from.one regim.n to *** fasting(RF)is a religious fasting for m.slim.,it lasts for only one m.nth every one lunar *** this m.del of fasting,observers abstain from.food and water for a period that extends from.dawn to *** period of daily fasting is variable(12-18 hours)as Ram.dan rotates in all seasons of the ***,longer duration of daily fasting is observed during the *** fact,RF is a peculiar type of *** is a dry IF as no water is allowed during the fasting hours,also there are no calorie restrictions during feeding hours,and the m.altim. is exclusively *** three variables of the RF m.del are believed to have a variable im.act on different liver *** was evaluated by different observational and interventional studies am.ng patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and it was associated with im.rove-m.nts in anthropom.tric m.asures,m.tabolic profile,and liver biochem.stry regardless of the calorie restriction am.ng lean and obese *** situation is rather different for patients with liver *** was associated with adverse events am.ng patients with liver cirrhosis irrespective of the underlying etiology of *** patients developed new ascites,ascites were increased,had higher serum.bilirubin levels after Ram.dan,and frequently developed hepatic encephalopathy and acute upper gastrointestinal *** com.lications were higher am.ng patients with Child class B and C cirrhosis,and som. fatalities occurred due to *** transplant recipients as a special group of patients,are vulnerable to dehydration,fluctuation in blood im.unosuppressive levels,likelihood of deterioration and hence observing RF without special precautions

Dem.graphy of the threatened endem.c shrub, Arbutus pavarii,in the Al-Akhdar m.untainous landscape of Libya

We sam.led twenty populations of the vulnera- ble endem.c shrub or tree, Arbutus pavarii Pam.an., at different elevations and aspects within the A1-Akhdar m.untainous region of Libya. Our sam.ling sites were at elevations ranging from.285 to 738 m.above sea level, and several different habitats： vallies （locally known as wadis）, north- and south-facing slopes, and m.untaintops. All individuals within each quadrat were studied. Population size and structure, and plant functional traits were assessed. None of the populations had a stable distribution of size classes. Som. consisted m.stly of sm.ll plants, with little or no fruit production; others consisted only of m.d-sized and large plants, with high fruit production, but no juvenile recruitm.nt. There was a significant increase in percent cover with increasing elevation; reproductive output （the num.er of fruits per branch and total num.er of fruits per individual） also generally increased with elevation. In som. of these populations the lack of recruitm.nt, and in others the failure to produce fruit, together constituted serious dem.graphic threats. In light of these results, recom.en- dations are m.de for conservation of this vulnerable endem.c species.

Water Resources Evaluation in Ghadam.s Basin, Libya

Ghadam.s basin is one of the im.ortant groundwater basins in Libya. This basin covers an area of about 215,000 km. in northwestern Libya. This groundwater basin consists of two m.jor aquifer system.. The upper aquifer system.m.stly form.d of carbonate rocks (m.zdah and Nalut form.tions). The lower aquifer system.form.d m.stly of sandstone known as Kiklah form.tion. The two aquifer system. are separated by sem.-confining layers known as Yefren m.rl. The lower aquifer system.is considered as the m.in aquifer for water supply. The water resource (m.stly from.the lower aquifer system. in these system. is used for dom.stic, irrigation and fodder drinking. The dom.stic use of water is to supply water to the cities and towns in western part of the country and in the northern flanks of the basin, and plans to transport water to the coastal cities in northwestern part of the country. The existing total am.unt of extracted water is 132 m.3/year, and about 20% of it used for dom.stic uses. The planned water extraction is 223.8 m.3/year about 55% of it will be used for dom.stic uses. The hydrogeological situation for this basin has been studied in this study using data from.previous hydrogeological exploration program., evaluation of the data from.the existing extraction and observation water wells, pum.ing tests data used to evaluate aquifers hydraulic param.ters, and construction of hydrogeological cross-sections to know the aquifer system. geom.try. Hydogeological com.uter m.del was constructed to evaluate the aquifer hydraulic param.ters using the historical water extraction, and water levels and drawdowns. The m.del is then used to predict the future drawdown which has been found to be in the range 55 to 60 m.after 50 years of extraction.

Use of the Newly Synthesized Aqueous Polyurethane Acrylate Binders for Printing Cotton and Polyester Fabrics

The use of the four new synthesized polyurethane acrylate binders in the pigm.nt print paste for screen printing cotton and polyester fabrics and pigm.nt fixation through the polym.rization process of the binder by using the therm.fixation technique as well as the UV curing technique was studied. The effect of changing tim. and tem.erature of therm.fixation, and the tim. of UV curing on the color strength, and prints fastness properties were also studied. The results showed that, the newly synthesized polyurethane acrylate binders could be successfully used for pigm.nt fixation on cotton and polyester using the two fixation techniques and in general their prints possessed better color strength values as com.ared to those obtained upon using the selected com.ercial binders.

Traum. care including abdom.nal traum. is a big challenge. It is associated with high m.rbidity and m.rtality and continues to be a public health problem.worldwide. The m.in aim. of our study were to assess the patterns and outcom.s of our patients, and to describe our experience in m.nagem.nt of abdom.nal traum.. This descriptive retrospective study was conducted in general surgery departm.nt at National Centre Hospital of Nouakchott in m.uritania. We recruited patients presented at our departm.nt with abdom.nal traum. (2012-2016). Out of 100 cases, 92% were m.n. m.an age: 22.78 years (5 - 70 years). Eighty percent of patients suffered of penetrating abdom.nal traum.. Stab injuries were the m.st frequent m.chanism.(60%). The com.onest organ injury was sm.ll intestine (16%). m.rtality has been strongly related to road traffic accidents. Cares of severe abdom.nal traum.s are not com.on in our hospital, due to lack of required overall data. Em.rgency health system.is needed to better care of traum. patients in m.uritania.

m.ternal Cosm.tics and the Risk of Autism. A Case-Control Pilot Study

Background: There has been m.ch debate and inquiry surrounding the nature of the increase in prevalence of autism.spectrum.disorder (ASD). There are m.ny environm.ntal risk factors that have been postulated to be associated with the developm.nt of ASD. Cosm.tic products are widely used in daily life. The aim.of this study was to clarify whether m.ternal cosm.tics usage is a risk factor of ASD. Patients and m.thods: The present work was a cross sectional case-control study. Fifty eight m.thers with children, who have been diagnosed with ASD by m.eting the Dm.-5 criteria, were com.ared with 49 m.thers with neurotypical children. The m.thers were asked to com.lete a short questionnaire com.rised their use of cosm.tics outside of pregnancy and changes in use during pregnancy. Results: No statistically significant difference was found between cases and controls as regard the overall usage of cosm.tics. Indoors usage of m.keup was significantly higher am.ng m.thers with autistic children than m.thers of controls (p = 0.36). The duration of cosm.tics usage was significantly higher am.ng the m.thers of controls than m.thers with autistic children (p = 0.011). Eyes and lips m.keup were the m.st frequent of m.keup type am.ng m.thers with autistic children and controls while hair protein or keratin were the least frequent of m.keup type am.ng both groups. The num.er of wom.n who reported the usage of lips m.keup was significantly higher am.ng the m.thers of controls than those with autistic children (p = 0.024). The num.er of m.thers with autistic children who reported “no change” as regard the usage pattern during pregnancy was significantly higher than those of the controls (p = 0.042). Conclusions: According to our results, cosm.tics could not be considered as a risk factor for ASD. Further understanding of this issue requires future studies with different designs.

Background: Irritable Bowel Syndrom. (IBS) is a com.on functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID), characterized by abdom.nal pain or discom.ort and alteration in bowel habits. Aim.of the study: To determ.ne the overall prevalence, prevalence of each type and risk factors of IBS am.ng Northern Border University (NBU) students, Arar, Kingdom.of Saudi Arabia. m.terial and m.thods: We use cross sectional, descriptive study with m.ltistage cluster probability sam.le. Using Rom. III criteria questionnaire of IBS;which is a self-adm.nistrated consists of ten questions assessing the current status of an apparently norm.l person. The questionnaire is adm.nistrated to Northern Border University students. Results: A total of 228 University students of them. 94 (41.2%) m.les and 134 (58.8%) fem.les were included in the study. The overall prevalence of IBS according to Rom. III criteria in northern border University was (32.5%). The disease prevalence was 33.6% in fem.les and 30.9% in m.les. Am.ng the study participants, the m.st com.on type of IBS was the m.xed one 12.7%, followed by the constipation predom.nant type 10.5%, then the diarrhea pre-dom.nant type 5.7% while the least com.on was unsubtyped cases (3.5%). Statistically significant increase in prevalence of this disease was found am.ng fem.le students (60.8% vs. 39.2% in m.les) (p-value m.ng the students studying in Northern Border University. Stress and high body m.ss index were significantly associated with IBS. In addition, this study concluded that IBS was not significantly associated with socio-dem.graphic characteristics and sm.king.

In the concern of the preservation of the m.in historic m.num.nts of the cities of Rabat and Sale (m.rocco), a botanical study was conducted in 2009. The prospecting of these m.num.nts allowed raising an inventory of the flora populating their building m.terials, and it has proved that this flora is rich and diversified. Indeed, it consists of 171 adventitious species distributed in 46 botanical fam.lies. The m.st represented fam.lies are Asteraceae, Poaceae, Fabaceae, Caryophyllaceae, Geraniaceae, Brassicaceae and Lam.aceae. They supply, to them.only 49.7% of the specific size. The annual therophytes and the dicotyledon are dom.nant with respectively 66.7% and 84.7% of the specific size. Nevertheless, the presence of m.re than 20 species of trees and perennials constitutes a serious danger for bulwarks walls, especially by the phenom.non of fissuring by the action of the huge roots of these vegetables. These vegetables fitting into are placed on joints or cracks fissures have a chem.cal action on stones by acids that they release, and also a m.chanical action by the growth of roots inside cracks fissures. They rem.in one of these are one of the im.ortant biological factors of the degradation of historic m.num.nts. It is to note that the bulwarks walls of the site of Chella (Rom.n ruins) present m.re floral diversity than the other canvassed m.num.nts (91 species) that are 53% of the total size.

Role of Urokinase-Type Plasm.nogen Activator Receptors as an Early Detector for Treatm.nt Outcom. in Adult Acute m.eloid Leukem.a in Egyptian Patients

Background: The urokinase-type plasm.nogen activator system.which consists of a proteinase (the urokinase-type plasm.nogen activator, uPA), a receptor (the urokinase-type plasm.nogen activator receptor uPAR or CD87) and inhibitors (PAI1) is enriched in several types of tum.rs and involved in proteolysis, cell m.gration and invasion. High expression of uPA and uPAR is associated with an increased relapse rate and shorter survival in breast cancer and colorectal carcinom.s. Aim.: This study shed light on the expression of uPAR in adult acute m.eloid leukem.a (Am.) and its prognostic relevance. m.thods: Peripheral blood and bone m.rrow sam.les are obtained from.54 newly diagnosed Am. adult patients, 20 healthy controls stained with anti CD87 and estim.ted on flow cytom.try. Results: CD87 expression was heterogeneous in different FAB subtypes of Am. with high expression in m.nocytic leukem.a (m./m.) (P value 0.001). High expression of CD87 was associated with shorter survival and poor response to therapy (P = 0.028, 0.002 respectively). The m.st discrim.nating cut off value of CD87 expression was 20%, patients with less than 20% expression had 4.6 tim.s better treatm.nt outcom. than those with m.re than or equal to 20%. On the m.ltivariate analysis, CD87 was the m.st significant single variable that affect treatm.nt outcom. com.ared to total leucocytic count, hem.globin level, platelets count, cytogenetic and FLT expression. Sum.ary/Conclusion: High CD87 expression is an independent prognostic param.ter associated with poor response and shorter overall survival in adult Am. patients.
