Bioceramic scaffolds with two-step internal/external modification of copper-containing polydopamine enhance antibacterial and alveolar bone regeneration capability

Magnesium-doped calcium silicate(CS)bioceramic scaffolds have unique advantages in mandibular defect repair;however,they lack antibacterial properties to cope with the complex oral ***,for the first time,the CS scaffold was functionally modified with a novel copper-containing polydopamine(PDA(Cu^(2+)))rapid deposition method,to construct internally modified(*P),externally modified(@PDA),and dually modified(*P@PDA)*** morphology,degradation behavior,and mechanical properties of the obtained scaffolds were evaluated in *** results showed that the CS*P@PDA had a unique micro-/nano-structural surface and appreciable mechanical *** the prolonged immersion stage,the release of copper ions from the CS*P@PDA scaffolds was rapid in the early stage and exhibited long-term sustained *** in vitro evaluation revealed that the release behavior of copper ions ascribed an excellent antibacterial effect to the CS*P@PDA,while the scaffolds retained good cytocompatibility with improved osteogenesis and angiogenesis ***,the PDA(Cu^(2+))-modified scaffolds showed effective early bone regeneration in a critical-size rabbit mandibular defect ***,it was indicated that considerable antibacterial property along with the enhancement of alveolar bone regeneration can be imparted to the scaffold by the two-step PDA(Cu^(2+))modification,and the convenience and wide applicability of this technique make it a promising strategy to avoid bacterial infections on implants.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of Ganoderma Lucidum Spore Oil(GLSO)on the tumor growth and survival of H22 tumor-bearing mice treated with cyclophosphamide(CTX),and explore the underlying ***:Allograft H22 hepatocellular carcinoma mouse model was applied to investigate the effect of GLSO on the tumor growth and survival of animals,and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to analyze the life *** biochemical examination was used to determine the levels of alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),urea(UREA)and creatinine(CRE).Western blot analysis was performed to detect Programmed Death-1(PD-1),Programmed Death Ligand 1(PD-L1),Janus Kinase 2(JAK2),phosphorylated Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3(p-STAT3),and Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3(STAT3)***:GLSO increased the anti-tumor effect of CTX and prolonged the survival of H22 tumor-bearing mice treated with ***,GLSO increased the thymus index and showed no obvious toxicity to liver functions of *** also decreased the level of UREA in H22 tumor-bearing mice treated with ***,GLSO could inhibit the expression of PD-1 in spleen,which was independent of JAK2 expression and STAT3 ***,GLSO did not affect the expression of PD-L1,JAK2,and p-STAT3 in tumor ***:GLSO could strengthen the anti-tumor effect of CTX and prolong the life span of H22 tumorbearing mice,while the underlying mechanism might be relevant to the amelioration effect of thymus function and inhibition of PD-1 expression in ***,these findings implied the promising role of GLSO in combination with CTX to extend the survival of patients in clinical chemotherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Hydrogen production from proton exchange membrane water electrolysis is constrained by the sluggish kinetics of the anodic oxygen evolution ***_(2)has attracted considerable attention due to its low reaction overpotential,but its inferior stability remains a major ***,a strategy is proposed to enhance the catalytic activity and stability of CoRuOx nanoparticles by doping Co and regulating the ordering degree of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)by air *** was found that the CoRuOx@CNTs-300 catalyst exhibited the best catalytic activity and stability when the annealing temperature was 300°*** the current density of 10 mA cm−2,the overpotential of this catalyst was only 201 mV,which was nearly 100 mV lower than that of commercial RuO_(2)(300 mV).Surprisingly,there was no significant increase in the overpotential when tested at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 for 50 *** density functional theory calculations indicate that the high activity of the catalyst is due to the electronic coupling of CoRuOx nanoparticles and CNTs,and that the introduction of Co and CNTs improves the electronic structure and solvation energies of the Ru in the active site,dramatically increasing the structural stability.

L-glutamic acid(LA)is a bio-based,non-toxic,environmentally friendly material derived from *** present study reports the application of Passerini three-component polymerization(P-3CP)for the straightforward preparation of LA-based light-responsive polyesters(PLTDs)under mild *** with molar masses up to 8500 g/mol and high yields exceeding 90%are *** chemical structures and light-responsive self-immolative behavior of PLTDs are comprehensively characterized by employing ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)spectroscopy,size exclusion chromatography(SEC),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy,and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry(LC-MS).Meanwhile,monodisperse PLTD-based doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles(PLTD-DOX-NP)(size=193 nm,PDI=0.018)are formulated by nanoprecipitation *** light-induced depolymerization,the PLTD-DOX-NP undergoes rapid decomposition,resulting in a burst release of 80%cargo within 13 ***,according to biological toxicity tests,the PLTD-NP possesses adequate biosafety,both before and after ***,the incorporation of P-3CP with biorenewable LA-based monomer adheres to the principles of green chemistry,significantly simplifying the synthetic pathway of light-responsive polymers.

Synergistic effect of carbon nanotube and encapsulated carbon layer enabling high-performance SnS2-based anode for lithium storage

Tin disulfide（SnS2）,due to large interlayer spacing and high theoretical capacity,is regarded as a prospective anode material for lithium-ion ***,the poor electron conductivity of SnS2and huge volumetric change during the lithiation/delithiation process lead to a rapid capacity decay of the battery,hindering its *** address these issues,herein,SnS2is in-situ grown on the surface of carbon nanotubes（CNT） and then encapsulated with a layer of porous amorphous carbon（CNT/SnS2@C） by simple solvothermal and further carbonization *** synergistic effect of CNT and porous carbon layer not only enhances the electrical co nductivity of SnS2but also limits the huge volumetric change to avoid the pulverization and detachment of *** functional theo ry calculations show that CNT/SnS2@C has high Li+adsorption and lithium storage capacity achieving high reaction ***,cells with the CNT/SnS2@C anode exhibit a high lithium storage capacity of 837mAh/g after 100 cycles at 0.1 A/g and retaining a capacity of 529.8 mAh/g under 1.0 A/g after 1000 *** study provides a fundamental understanding of the electrochemical processes and beneficial guidance to design high-performance SnS2-based anodes for LIBs.

Objective This study aimed to understand the epidemic status and phylogenetic relationships of rotavirus group A(RVA)in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong Province,*** This study included individuals aged 28 days–85 years.A total of 706 stool samples from patients with acute gastroenteritis collected between January 2019 and January 2020 were analyzed for 17 causative pathogens,including RVA,using a Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel,followed by genotyping,virus isolation,and complete sequencing to assess the genetic diversity of *** The overall RVA infection rate was 14.59%(103/706),with an irregular epidemiological *** proportion of co-infection with RVA and other pathogens was 39.81%(41/103).Acute gastroenteritis is highly prevalent in young children aged 0–1 year,and RVA is the key pathogen circulating in patients 6–10 months of age with diarrhea.G9P[8](58.25%,60/103)was found to be the predominant genotype in the RVA strains,and the 41 RVA-positive strains that were successfully sequenced belonged to three different RVA genotypes in the phylogenetic *** analysis showed that gene reassortment events,selection pressure,codon usage bias,gene polymorphism,and post-translational modifications(PTMs)occurred in the G9P[8]and G3P[8]*** This study provides molecular evidence of RVA prevalence in the Pearl River Delta region of China,further enriching the existing information on its genetics and evolutionary characteristics and suggesting the emergence of genetic *** the surveillance of genotypic changes and gene reassortment in RVA strains is essential for further research and a better understanding of strain variations for further vaccine development.

Single-photon laser ranging has widespread applications in remote sensing and target ***,highly sensitive light detection and ranging(lidar)has long been restricted in the visible or near-infrared *** appealing quest is to extend the operation wavelength into the mid-infrared(MIR)region,which calls for an infrared photon-counting system at high detection sensitivity and precise temporal ***,we devise and demonstrate an MIR upconversion lidar based on nonlinear asynchronous optical ***,the infrared probe is interrogated in a nonlinear crystal by a train of pump pulses at a slightly different repetition rate,which favors temporal optical scanning at a picosecond timing resolution and a kilohertz refreshing rate ***,the cross-correlation upconversion trace is temporally stretched by a factor of 2×10^(4),which can thus be recorded by a low-bandwidth silicon *** combination with the time-correlated photon-counting technique,the achieved effective resolution is about two orders of magnitude better than the timing jitter of the detector itself,which facilitates a ranging precision of 4μm under a low detected flux of 8×10^(−5) photons per *** presented MIR time-of-flight range finder is featured with single-photon sensitivity and high positioning resolution,which would be particularly useful in infrared sensing and imaging in photon-starved scenarios.

With the shortage of lithium resources,sodiumion batteries(SIBs)are considered one of the most promising candidates for lithium-ion batteries.P2-type and O3-type layered oxides are one of the few cathodes that can access high energy ***,they usually exhibit structural change,capacity decay,and slow Na ion ***,we present layered ternary-phase cathodes with P2,P3 and O3 phases by a lattice doping strategy,which is demonstrated by X-ray diffraction(XRD)*** the characteristics of P2,P3 and O3 phases,the layered composites show performance improvement during long-term battery *** particular,Na_(0.7)Li_(0.1)Co_(0.3-)Fe_(0.3)Mn_(0.3)O_(2)(NLCFM)delivers a reversible capacity of120.1 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1C(1.0C=175 mA·g^(-1))with a superior capacity retention of 72.5%after 1000 cycles *** work offers insights into the development of advanced cathode materials for SIBs.
