Designing gradient nanograined dual-phase structure in duplex stainless steel for superior strength-ductility synergy

Similar to other metallic materials,duplex stainless steel dramatically loses its advantage of high ductility as they are ***,we produce a gradient nanograined dual-phase structure in the 2101 duplex stainless steel,thus facilitating a superior strength-ductility synergy:a yield strength of 1009.5 MPa being two times higher than that of the as-received sample,a total elongation of 23.4%and a uniform elongation of 5.9%.This novel structure is produced through a processing route of ultrasonic severe surface rolling and annealing,which realizes a superposition of gradient nanostructure and lamellar dual-phase structure with austenite and *** the tension deformation of gradi-ent nanograined dual-phase structured duplex stainless steel,a significant accumulation of geometrically necessary dislocations *** dislocations are formed to accommodate the deformation incompat-ibility caused by the layer-by-layer difference in strength and hardness of individual phase domains,as well as the inherent difference in properties between the austenite and ferrite *** results in a stronger hetero-deformation induced strengthening and hardening significantly contributing to superior mechanical *** study provides a new avenue to develop advanced steels with high strength and ductility.

In the past 5 years,there has been significant research interest in the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator family compounds MnBi2+2nTe4+3n（where n=0,1,2…）.In particular,exfoliated thin films of MnBi2Te4have led to numerous experimental breakthroughs,such as the quantum anomalous Hall effect,axion insulator phase and high-Chern number quantum Hall effect without Landau ***,despite extensive efforts,the energy gap of the topological surface states due to exchange magnetic coupling,which is a key feature of the characteristic band structure of the system,remains experimentally *** electronic structure measured by using angle-resolved photoemission （ARPES） shows significant deviation from ab initio prediction and scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements,making it challenging to understand the transport results based on the electronic *** paper reviews the measurements of the band structure of MnBi2+2nTe4+3nmagnetic topological insulators using ARPES,focusing on the evolution of their electronic structures with temperature,surface and bulk doping and film *** aim of the review is to construct a unified picture of the electronic structure of MnBi2+2nTe4+3ncompounds and explore possible control of their topological properties.

The seismic performance of rubber concrete-layered periodic foundations are significantly influenced by their design,in which the band gaps play a paramount *** at providing better designs for these foundations,this study first proposes and validates the analytical formulas to approximate the bounds of the first few band *** addition,the mapping relations linking the frequencies of different band gaps are ***,an optimal design method for these foundations is developed,which is validated through an engineering *** is demonstrated that ensuring the superstructure’s resonance zones are completely covered by the corresponding periodic foundation’s band gaps can achieve satisfactory vibration attenuation effects,which is a good strategy for the design of rubber concrete layered periodic foundations.

Coupling effect on the thermal hazard assessment of hazardous chemical materials via calorimetric technologies and simulation approaches

The coupling effect of heat absorption and release exists in the thermal decomposition of a few chemical ***,the impact of the above coupling on thermal hazard assessment is not considered in the literature *** this work,nitroguanidine(NQ)and 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine(RDX)are selected as representative materials to explore the influence of the coupling effect on the thermal hazard assessment of chemical *** linear heating experiments of NQ and RDX are carried out by a microcalorimeter and synchronous thermal *** thermal decomposition curves are decoupled by advanced thermokinetics *** thermal decomposition and kinetic parameters before and after decoupling are *** results of TG experiment show that both NQ and RDX began to lose mass during the endothermic *** endothermic melting and exothermic decomposition of NQ and RDX are coupled within this *** coupling effect has different degrees of influence on its initial decomposition temperature and safety *** with the parameters in the coupling state,the initial decomposition temperature and adiabatic induction period after decoupling *** self-accelerating decomposition temperature increases,and internal thermal runaway time *** the thermal hazard assessment of chemical materials with coupling effects,the calculated parameters after decoupling should be taken as an important safety index。

Discourse relation classification is a fundamental task for discourse analysis,which is essential for understanding the structure and connection of *** discourse relation classification aims to determine the relationship between adjacent sentences and is very challenging because it lacks explicit discourse connectives as linguistic cues and sufficient annotated training *** this paper,we propose a discriminative instance selection method to construct synthetic implicit discourse relation data from easy-to-collect explicit discourse *** expanded instance consists of an argument pair and its sense *** introduce the argument pair type classification task,which aims to distinguish between implicit and explicit argument pairs and select the explicit argument pairs that are most similar to natural implicit argument pairs for data *** also propose a simple label-smoothing technique to assign robust sense labels for the selected argument *** evaluate our method on PDTB 2.0 and PDTB *** results show that our method can consistently improve the performance of the baseline model,and achieve competitive results with the state-of-the-art models.

Ballistic target recognition based on multiple data representations and deep-learning algorithms

Target recognition is a significant part of a Ballistic Missile Defense System(BMDS).However,most existing ballistic target recognition methods overlook the impact of data representation on recognition *** paper focuses on systematically investigating the influences of three novel data representations in the Range-Doppler(RD)***,the Radar Cross Section(RCS)and micro-Doppler(m-D)characteristics of a cone-shaped ballistic target are ***,three different data representations are proposed:RD data,RD sequence tensor data,and RD trajectory *** accommodate various data inputs,deep-learning models are designed,including a two-Dimensional Residual Dense Network(2D RDN),a three-Dimensional Residual Dense Network-Gated Recurrent Unit(3D RDN-GRU),and a Dynamic Trajectory Recognition Network(DTRN).Finally,an Electromagnetic(EM)computation dataset is collected to verify the performances of the networks.A broad range of experimental results demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed ***,several key parameters of the proposed networks and datasets are extensively studied in this research.

A Novel On-Site-Real-Time Method for Identifying Characteristic Parameters Using Ultrasonic Echo Groups and Neural Network

On-site and real-time non-destructive measurement of elastic constants for materials of a component in a in-service structure is a challenge due to structural complexities,such as ambiguous boundary,variable thickness,nonuniform material *** work develops for the first time a method that uses ultrasound echo groups and artificial neural network(ANN)for reliable on-site real-time identification of material *** use of echo groups allows the use of lower frequencies,and hence more accommodative to structural *** train the ANNs,a numerical model is established that is capable of computing the waveform of ultrasonic echo groups for any given set of material properties of a given *** waveform of an ultrasonic echo groups at an interest location on the surface the structure with material parameters varying in a predefined range are then computed using the numerical *** results in a set of dataset for training the ANN *** the ANN is trained,the material parameters can be identified simultaneously using the actual measured echo waveform as input to the *** tests have been conducted both numerically and experimentally to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of the currently proposed *** results show that the maximum identification error of numerical example is less than 2%,and the maximum identification error of experimental test is less than 7%.Compared with currently prevailing methods and equipment,the proposefy the density and thickness,in addition to the elastic ***,the reliability and accuracy of inverse prediction is significantly ***,it has broad applications and enables real-time field measurements,which has not been fulfilled by any other available methods or equipment.

Melt flow,heat transfer and solidification in a flexible thin slab continuous casting mold with vertical-combined electromagnetic braking

During continuous casting of steel slabs,the application of electromagnetic braking technology(EMBr)provides an effective tool to influence solidification by controlling the pattern of melt flow in the ***,the quality of the final product can be improved considerably.A new electromagnetic braking(EMBr)method,named vertical-combined electromagnetic braking(VC-EMBr),is proposed to be applied to a flexible thin slab casting(FTSC)*** evaluate the beneficial effects of the VC-EMBr,the melt flow,heat transfer,and solidification processes in the FTSC mold are studied by means of numerical *** detail,a Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes turbulence model together with an enthalpy-porosity approach was *** numerical findings are compared with respective simulations using the traditional *** results demonstrate that the application of the VC-EMBr contributes significantly to preventing relative slab *** contrast to the Ruler-EMBr,the additional vertical magnetic poles of the VC-EMBr preferentially suppress the direct impact of jet flow on the narrow face of FSTC mold and considerably diminish the level fluctuation near the meniscus *** instance,by applying a magnetic flux density of 0.3 T,the maximum amplitude of meniscus deflection reduces by about 80%.Moreover,the braking effect of the VC-EMBr effectively improves the homogeneity of temperature distribution in the upper recirculation region and increases the solidified shell thickness along the casting *** this basis,the newly proposed VC-EMBr shows a beneficial effect in preventing relative slab defects for FTSC thin slab continuous casting.

Cross-upgrading of biomass hydrothermal carbonization and pyrolysis for high quality blast furnace injection fuel production:Physicochemical characteristics and gasification kinetics analysis

The paper proposes a biomass cross-upgrading process that combines hydrothermal carbonization and pyrolysis to produce high-quality blast furnace injection *** results showed that after upgrading,the volatile content of biochar ranged from 16.19%to 45.35%,and the alkali metal content,ash content,and specific surface area were significantly *** optimal route for biochar pro-duction is hydrothermal carbonization-pyrolysis(P-HC),resulting in biochar with a higher calorific value,C=C structure,and increased graphitization *** apparent activation energy(E)of the sample ranges from 199.1 to 324.8 kJ/mol,with P-HC having an E of 277.8 kJ/mol,lower than that of raw biomass,primary biochar,and *** makes P-HC more suitable for blast furnace injection ***,the paper proposes a path for P-HC injection in blast furnaces and calculates potential environmental benefits.P-HC of-fers the highest potential for carbon emission reduction,capable of reducing emissions by 96.04 kg/t when replacing 40wt%coal injec-tion.
