AIM:To investigate ocular surface disorders and tear function changes in patients with acne vulgaris and explore the potential relationship between acne vulgaris and dry ***:This cross-sectional study included right eyes of 53 patients with acne vulgaris and 54 healthy *** participants completed the Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI)*** following ocular surface-related parameters were measured:tear meniscus height(TMH),noninvasive tear breakup time(NIBUT),Schirmer I test(SIT),lipid layer thickness(LLT)score of the tear film,meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,the ratio of meibomian gland loss,conjunctival hyperemia score,and corneal fluorescein staining(CFS)***:The stability of the tear film decreased in acne vulgaris *** the acne group,the TMH and NIBUT were lower,whereas the OSDI,meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,ratio of meibomian gland loss,and conjunctival hyperemia score were higher compared with controls(P0.05).In two dry eye groups,the TMH,NIBUT,and LLT score were lower in the acne with dry eye(acne-DE)group,and the meibum score,meibomian gland orifice obstruction score,ratio of meibomian gland loss and conjunctival hyperemia score in the acne-DE group were higher(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Patients with moderate-to-severe acne vulgaris are more likely to experience dry eye than those without acne *** tear film stability and meibomian gland structure dysfunction are more pronounced in patients with moderate-to-severe acne and dry eye.

Hemisphere photos are now widely applied to provide information about solar radiation dynamics,canopy structure and their contribution to biophysical processes,plant productivity and ecosystem *** present study aims to improve the original‘edge detection’method for binary classifcation between sky and canopy,which works not well for closed *** supposed such inaccuracy probably is due to the infuence of sky pixels on their neighbor canopy ***,we introduced a new term‘neighbor distance’,defned as the distance between pixels participated in the calculation of contrast at the edges between classifed canopy and sky,into the‘edge detection’*** showed that choosing a suitable neighbor distance for a photo with a specifc gap fraction can signifcantly improve the accuracy of the original‘edge detection’*** developed an ND-IS(Neighbor Distance-Iteration Selection)method that can automatically determine the threshold values of hemisphere photos with high accuracy and *** combines the modifed‘edge detection’method and an iterative selection method,with the aid of an empirical power function for the relationship between neighbor distance and manually verifed gap *** procedure worked well throughout a broad range of gap fractions(0.019-0.945)with different canopy compositions and structures,in fve forest biomes along a broad gradient of latitude and longitude across Eastern *** results highlight the necessity of integrating neighbor distance into the original‘edge detection’*** advantages and limitations of the method,and the application of the method in the feld were also discussed.

Real-time model correction using Kalman filter for Raman-controlled cell culture processes

Raman spectroscopy has found extensive use in monitoring and controlling cell culture *** this context,the prediction accuracy of Raman-based models is of paramount ***,models established with data from manually fed-batch cultures often exhibit poor performance in Raman-controlled ***,there is a need for effective methods to rectify these *** objective of this paper is to investigate the efficacy of Kalman filter(KF)algorithm in correcting Raman-based models during cell ***,partial least squares(PLS)models for different components were constructed using data from manually fed-batch cultures,and the predictive performance of these models was ***,various correction methods including the PLS-KF-KF method proposed in this study were employed to refine the PLS ***,a case study involving the auto-control of glucose concentration demonstrated the application of optimal model correction *** results indicated that the original PLS models exhibited differential performance between manually fed-batch cultures and Raman-controlled *** glucose,the root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP)of manually fed-batch culture and Raman-controlled culture was 0.23 and 0.40 g·L^(-1).With the implementation of model correction methods,there was a significant improvement in model performance within Raman-controlled *** RMSEP for glucose from updating-PLS,KF-PLS,and PLS-KF-KF was 0.38,0.36 and 0.17 g·L^(-1),***,the proposed PLS-KF-KF model correction method was found to be more effective and stable,playing a vital role in the automated nutrient feeding of cell cultures.

In this study,the gas-solid flow process in the blast furnace raceway is numerically simulated using coupled computational fluid dynamics and the discrete element method(CFD-DEM).The coke reaction kinetics data are imported into the DEM model to reproduce the consumption process of each coke *** effects of inlet gas velocity and angle on the morphology of the raceway,coke consumption rate,coke bed temperature,and particle size distribution in the blast process are systematically investigated and *** results show that the consumption of coke particles promotes the formation of raceways during the blast *** the same time,a coke mixture layer is produced at the edge of the *** higher the inlet gas velocity,the thicker the coke mixture layer in the middle and upper parts of the raceway region,and the larger the proportion of small particles in the coke mixture *** effect of the inlet gas angle on the raceway region is less than the inlet gas ***,with the increase in the inlet gas angle,the high-temperature region of the coke bed extends downward gradually,which is conducive to activating the hearth.

In-situ consolidation forming of high-performance thermoplastic composites by Automated Fiber Placement(AFP)is of significant interest in *** the laying process,the heating temperature has a great influence on the quality of the formed components.A threedimensional heat transfer finite element model of Carbon Fiber(CF)/Polyether Ether Ketone(PEEK)heated by Slit Structure Nozzle Hot Gas Torch(SSNHGT)assisted AFP is *** influence of gas flow rate,heat transfer distance,and laying speed on heating temperature is *** results show that the overall temperature increases and then decreases as the gas flow rate *** the increase in heat transfer distance and laying speed,the overall temperature ***,the gas flow rate has the greatest influence on the temperature of CF/PEEK being heated,followed by the laying speed and finally the heat transfer ***,the model can also be extended to other fiber-reinforced polymer composites formed by hot gas torch assisted AFP,which can guide the optimization of process parameters for subsequent heating temperature control.

Visual semantic segmentation aims at separating a visual sample into diverse blocks with specific semantic attributes and identifying the category for each block,and it plays a crucial role in environmental *** learning-based visual semantic segmentation approaches count heavily on largescale training data with dense annotations and consistently fail to estimate accurate semantic labels for unseen *** obstruction spurs a craze for studying visual semantic segmentation with the assistance of few/zero-shot *** emergence and rapid progress of few/zero-shot visual semantic segmentation make it possible to learn unseen categories from a few labeled or even zero-labeled samples,which advances the extension to practical ***,this paper focuses on the recently published few/zero-shot visual semantic segmentation methods varying from 2D to 3D space and explores the commonalities and discrepancies of technical settlements under different segmentation ***,the preliminaries on few/zeroshot visual semantic segmentation,including the problem definitions,typical datasets,and technical remedies,are briefly reviewed and ***,three typical instantiations are involved to uncover the interactions of few/zero-shot learning with visual semantic segmentation,including image semantic segmentation,video object segmentation,and 3D ***,the future challenges of few/zero-shot visual semantic segmentation are discussed.

Three new diterpenoids, gesneroidins DP (1-3), were isolated from Isodon gesneroides. The structure was determined as 3 beta, 7 beta, 11 beta, 15 beta-tetraacetoxy-ent-kaur-16-en-6-one; 15 beta-hydroxy-1 alpha, 3 beta, 6 alpha, 7 beta, 11 beta-pentaacetoxy-ent-kaur-16-ene; 6 alpha,11 beta-dihydroxy-3 beta, 7 beta-diacetoxy-ent-kaur-16-en-15-one based on 1D and 2D NMR techniques (COSY, NOESY, HXTCOR, COLOC).
