A Blockchain-Based Life-Cycle Environmental Management Framework for Hospitals in the COVID-19 Context

During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emergency, many hospitals were built or renovated around the world to meet the challenges posed by the rising number of infected cases. Environmental management in the hospital life cycle is vital in preventing nosocomial infection and includes many infection control procedures. In certain urgent situations, a hospital must be completed quickly, and work process approval and supervision must therefore be accelerated. Thus, many works cannot be checked in detail. This results in a lack of work liability control and increases the difficulty of ensuring the fulfillment of key infection prevention measures. This study investigates how blockchain technology can transform the work quality inspection workflow to assist in nosocomial infection control under a fast delivery requirement. A blockchain-based life-cycle environmental management framework is proposed to track the fulfillment of crucial infection control measures in the design, construction, and operation stages of hospitals. The proposed framework allows for work quality checking after the work is completed, when some work cannot be checked on time. Illustrative use cases are selected to demonstrate the capabilities of the developed solution. This study provides new insights into applying blockchain technology to address the challenge of environmental management brought by rapid delivery requirements.

This paper investigates the distributed fixed-time attitude coordinated control problem for multiple spacecraft subject to actuator saturation under the directed topology. First, a distributed fixed-time observer is presented for each follower spacecraft to estimate the leader spacecraft’s states. Compared with the commonly used fixed-time observer, the settling time of the proposed fixed-time observer can be easily adjusted by some free design parameters. Next, a distributed fixed-time control scheme is derived by using the estimates of the leader spacecraft’s states and the adding a power integrator technique. When considering actuator saturation, an auxiliary system is utilized to compensate the saturation. Further, a rigorous theoretical proof is provided to show that the practical fixed-time stability of the closed-loop system is ensured. Finally, simulation results illustrate the benefits and effectiveness of the developed control scheme.

Pressure Analysis of the Initial Process of Diffusion Combustion Surge in a 350 kW Gas Boiler

In order to meet the increasingly stringent requirements for nitrogen oxides(NOx)emissions from gas boilers,flue gas recirculation(FGR)technology is commonly used to achieve ultra-low NOx emissions.However,under some ultra-low NOx combustion conditions with FGR,a surge phenomenon occurs in the boiler,which causes a flameout and should be avoided.In this study,the diffusion combustion surge of gas boiler with a rated power of 350 k W and equipped with FGR device was investigated.Pressure characteristic analysis results of the initial process of combustion surge showed that the high-frequency component of pressure is closely related to combustion stability and its change can provide reference for the occurrence of surge.Besides,the initial process of surge was analyzed by wavelet packet entropy method.Results indicated that the wavelet packet entropy of pressure signals could effectively reflect the stability of combustion in the furnace,and it could also be used to study the occurrence of surge.

In order to make the slag from desulphurization and slag skimming(SDSS)to be comprehensively recycled and utilized,a combined process of beneficiation and building materials preparation was proposed to recover iron from SDSS,meanwhile to apply the remaining slag tailings as cement admixture.From this process,three iron-rich products were recovered in stages by clean gravity-magnetic separation,slag tailings were left.Slag powder was prepared by ultrafine grinding of slag tailings.The stability,setting time and cement mortar strength of the slag tailings cements(STC)which were mixed with Portland cement and slag powder were studied respectively.The results showed that a proper overall performance still could be obtained at the slag powder content of 30%.Chemical composition analysis,X-ray diffraction(XRD)analysis,metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope(SEM)analysis were employed to assess the characteristics of the SDSS and the products obtained from the whole process.The results indicated that the three iron-rich products could be used as a raw material for steelmaking and ironmaking and the relatively large amount of calcium silicate(C_(2)S)and tricalcium silicate(C_(3)S)in the slag tailings make the addition of slag powder into the Portland cement feasible.

This paper presents a novel scheme for joint frequency and direction of arrival(DOA)estimation,that pairs frequencies and DOAs automatically without additional computations.First,when the property of the Kronecker product is used in the received array signal of the multiple-delay output model,the frequency-angle steering vector can be reconstructed as the product of the frequency steering vector and the angle steering vector.The frequency of the incoming signal is then obtained by searching for the minimal eigenvalue among the smallest eigenvalues that depend on the frequency parameters but are irrelevant to the DOAs.Subsequently,the DOA related to the selected frequency is acquired through some operations on the minimal eigenvector according to the Rayleigh–Ritz theorem,which realizes the natural pairing of frequencies and DOAs.Furthermore,the proposed method can not only distinguish multiple sources,but also effectively deal with other arrays.The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm are further analyzed by simulations.

Nano-impact electrochemistry is an efficient way to probe the physical and chemical properties of individual particles.Unfortunately,limited by the weak adsorption between particles and a microelectrode(ME),the particle collision events evolve randomly to be elastic or inelastic.These events occur intermittently to produce unmarked transient signal sets that seriously interfere with single particle measurement.Here,we report a nitrogen-skinned carbon nanocone electrode(NS-CNCE) to enhance its adsorption capacity greatly towards metal particles and thus realize non-dynamic(i.e.,inelastic impacts) single particle analysis.The surface of NS-CNCEs characteristic of excellent adhesion,smoothness,and conductivity can effectively capture the landing metal particles to form a stable contact for efficient electronic communication.Using superior NS-CNCEs,we investigated electrochemical oxidation of Ag(or Au) particles and electrocatalytic amplification of Pt particles,respectively,under non-dynamic electrochemistry.The determined particle size is highly consistent with the physical characterization.Statistical analysis of transient signals confirms the strong adhesion of NS-CNCEs to metal particles,which is also in line with the prediction of a particle-electrode adsorption energy model.The proposed strategy has effectively solved the major challenge of general single metal particle collision analysis.

The idea of the inverse optimization problem is to adjust the values of the parameters so that the observed feasible solutions are indeed optimal.The modification cost is measured by different norms,such asl1,l2,l∞norms and the Hamming distance,and the goal is to adjust the parameters as little as possible.In this paper,we consider the inverse maximum flow problem under the combination of the weighted l2 norm and the weighted Hamming distance,i.e.,the modification cost is fixed in a given interval and depends on the modification out of the given interval.We present a combinatorial algorithm which can be finished in O(nm)to solve it due to the minimum cut of the residual network.

Molecular motion provides a way for biomolecules to mix and interact in living systems.Quantifying their motion is critical to the understanding of how biomolecules perform its function.However,it has been a challenged task to spatially map the fast diffusion of unbound proteins in the heterogenous intracellular environment.Here we reported a new imaging technique named cumulative area based on single-molecule diffusivity mapping(CA-SMdM).The strategy is based on the comparison of singlemolecule images between a shorter and longer exposure time.With longer exposure time,molecules will travel further,thus giving more blurred single-molecule images,hence implying its local diffusion rates.We validated our technique through measuring the fast diffusion rates(10–40μm~2/s)of fluorescent dye in glycerol-water mixture,and found the values fit well with Stokes-Einstein equation.We further showed that the spatially mapping of diffusivity in live cells is plausible through CA-SMdM,and it faithfully reported the local diffusivity heterogeneity in cytosol and nucleus.CA-SMdM provides an efficient way to mapping the local molecular motion,and therefore will have profound applications in probing the biomolecular interactions for living systems.

Background Acute myocarditis(AMC)can cause poor outcomes or even death in children.We aimed to identify AMC risk factors and create a mortality prediction model for AMC in children at hospital admission.Methods This was a single-center retrospective cohort study of AMC children hospitalized between January 2016 and January 2020.The demographics,clinical examinations,types of AMC,and laboratory results were collected at hospital admission.In-hospital survival or death was documented.Clinical characteristics associated with death were evaluated.Results Among 67 children,51 survived,and 16 died.The most common symptom was digestive disorder(67.2%).Based on the Bayesian model averaging and Hosmer–Lemeshow test,we created a final best mortality prediction model(acute myocarditis death risk score,AMCDRS)that included ten variables(male sex,fever,congestive heart failure,left-ventricular ejection fraction4,fulminant myocarditis,abnormal creatine kinase-MB,and hypotension).Despite differences in the characteristics of the validation cohort,the model discrimination was only marginally lower,with an AUC of 0.781(95%confidence interval=0.675–0.852)compared with the derivation cohort.Model calibration likewise indicated acceptable fit(Hosmer‒Lemeshow goodness-of-fit,P¼=0.10).Conclusions Multiple factors were associated with increased mortality in children with AMC.The prediction model AMCDRS might be used at hospital admission to accurately identify AMC in children who are at an increased risk of death.
