Cancer metastasis to bone is a three-dimensional(3D), multistep, dynamic process that requires the sequential involvement of three microenvironments, namely, the primary tumour microenvironment, the circulation microenvironment and the bone microenvironment. Engineered 3D approaches allow for a vivid recapitulation of in vivo cancerous microenvironments in vitro, in which the biological behaviours of cancer cells can be assessed under different metastatic conditions. Therefore, modelling bone metastasis microenvironments with 3 D cultures is imperative for advancing cancer research and anti-cancer treatment strategies. In this review, multicellular tumour spheroids and bioreactors, tissue engineering constructs and scaffolds, microfluidic systems and 3D bioprinting technology are discussed to explore the progression of the 3D engineering approaches used to model the three microenvironments of bone metastasis. We aim to provide new insights into cancer biology and advance the translation of new therapies for bone metastasis.

In this study,the delayed detached eddy simulation(DDES)is coupled with a homogenous cavitation model to simulate the cavitating turbulent flow around a propeller behind a full body ship with special emphasis on the influence of the vortex generator(VG)on the propeller cavitation and the hull pressure *** small calculation uncertainty as evaluated by the DDES verification and validation(V&V)method indicates that the present simulation can accurately reproduce the propeller performance and cavitation,and the predicted hull pressure fluctuation is in a fairly good agreement with the available experimental *** mechanism is explored through the current numerical results how the VG affects the local velocity distribution,along with the influences of the VG on the propeller cavitation and the hull pressure *** is shown that the streamwise vortex is induced by the VG near the hull boundary *** very low velocity region in the hull wake is reduced due to the effect of the streamwise ***,the propeller cavitation develops more mildly and the hull pressure fluctuation decreases due to the influence of the VG.

Fleshy fruit ripening is typically regulated by ethylene in climacteric fruits and abscisic acid(ABA)in non-climacteric *** fig(Ficus carica)shows a dual-ripening mechanism,which is not fully ***,we detected separate peaks of ethylene and ABA in fig fruits at the onset-and onripening stages,in conjunction with a sharp rise in glucose and fructose *** a newly-designed split-fruit system,exogenous ethylene failed to rescue fluridone-inhibited fruit ripening,whereas exogenous ABA rescued 2-amino-ethoxy-vinyl glycine(AVG)-inhibited fruit *** analysis revealed changes in the expression of genes key to both ABA and ethylene biosynthesis and perception during fig fruit *** the degreening stage,downregulation of FcACO2 or FcPYL8 retarded ripening,but downregulation of FcETR1/2 did not;unexpectedly,downregulation of FcAAO3 promoted ripening,but it inhibited ripening only before the de-greening ***,we detected an increase in ethylene emissions in the FcAAO3-RNAi ripening fruit and a decrease in ABA levels in the FcACO2-RNAi unripening ***,FcPYL8 can bind to ABA,suggesting that it functions as an ABA *** findings support the hypothesis that ethylene regulates the fig fruit ripening in an ABA-dependent *** propose a model for the role of the ABA-ethylene interaction in climacteric/non-climacteric processes.

A Japanese candlestick chart consists of not only the closing price but also the high,low and opening price *** the Japanese candlestick,this paper investigates the forecasting power of the shadow in Japanese candlestick *** studies performed with the US stock market show that 1)there is a significant Halloween effect in the shadow;2)shadow is valuable for predicting the stock market returns in both statistical and economic sense;3)the predictability reported by the shadow can not be explained by either the CAPM model or the Fama-French three-factor *** paper confirms that predictability of the stock market can be improved if more price information is used.

Adaptive service configuration approach for quality of service management in ubiquitous computing environments

Mobility and resource-limitedness pose challenging issues to service configuration for quality of service (QoS) management in ubiquitous computing environments. Previous configuration approaches, such as static resource reservation, dynamic resource allocation and single service composition are not valid in the environments. In this study, we present an adaptive service configuration approach. Firstly, we reduce the dynamic configuration process to a control model which aims to achieve the variation of critical QoS on minimal level with less resource cost. Secondly, to deal with different QoS variations, we design two configuration strategies—service chain reconfiguration and QoS parameter adjustment—and implement them based on fuzzy logic control theory. Finally, a configuration algorithm is developed to flexibly employ the two configuration strategies in tune with the error of critical QoS in configuration process. The results of simulation experiments suggest that our approach outper- forms existing configuration approaches in both QoS improvement and resource utilization.

This paper examines the risk-return relationship for the carbon future market during Phases I, II and III of the European Union Emission Trading Scheme(EU ETS). The risk factors derived from the newly developed LSW model, are embedded into a GARCH framework. This new specification is compared with several GARCH-M type models analyzing the risk-return relationship in the carbon market. The results show that the new specification consistently achieves a good fit and possesses superior explanatory power for the European Union Allowance(EUA) data. Some policy suggestions regarding market efficiency are also provided.

The paper proposes a new approach -- The decomposition-based vector autoregressive （DVAR） model to scrutinize the predictability of the UK stock market. Empirical studies performed on the monthly British FTSE100 index over 1984-2012 confirm that the DVAR model does provide informative forecasts for both in-sample and out-of-sample forecasts. Trading strategies based on the DVAR forecasts can Significantly beat the simple buy-and-hold, which demonstrates the valuable information provided by technical analysis in the UK stock market.

Maybe it is the most important medical reform for current China to adopt the bid-and-procurement scheme to correct the distortion of pharmaceutical resources allocation. Nevertheless, overpriced drugs often happen. This article aims to identify potential factors leading to the overpriced. Based on the mechanism rules of the scheme, it is found that unethical doctors are crucial to high price markup in the pricing pattern of drugs. Under China＇s actual conditions, asymmetric ownership is identified to be another cause of the overpriced by developing an asymmetric bidding model. How are the impacts of these two factors to be alleviated？ Upon examination, several reform measures cannot effectively avoid the occurrence of the overpriced. Yet, the issue is very urgent for China because it is facing with the problem of population aging. Therefore, alternative options - a regulation-penalty tool and an investment subsidy policy - are proposed to improve China＇s health care.

In the paper, cooperative two-stage network games are studied. At the first stage of the game, players form a network, while at the second stage players choose their behaviors according to the network realized at the first stage. As a cooperative solution concept in the game, the core is *** is proved that some imputations from the core are time inconsistent, whereas one can design for them a time-consistent imputation distribution procedure. Moreover, the strong time consistency problem is also investigated.
