Lap-Shear Performance of Weld-Bonded Mg Alloy and Austenitic Stainless Steel in Three-Sheet Stack-Up

With the growing interest in utilizing Mg and austenitic stainless steel(ASS) in the automotive sector, j.ining them together in three-sheet configuration is inevitable. However, achieving this task presents considerable challenges due to the large differences in their physical, metallurgical and mechanical properties. To overcome these challenges, the feasibility of using weld-bonding to j.in Mg alloy/ASS/ASS was investigated. The nugget formation,interface characteristics, microstructure and mechanical properties of the j.ints were investigated. The results show that the connection between the Mg alloy and upper ASS was achieved through the combined effect of the cured adhesive and weld-brazing in the weld zone. On the other hand, a metallurgical bond was formed at the ASS/ASS interface. The Mg nugget microstructure exhibited fine columar grains composed predominantly of primary α-Mg grains along with a eutectic mixture of α-Mg and β-Mg17Al12. The nugget formed at the ASS/ASS interface consisted largely of columnar grains of austenite, with some equiaxed dendritic grains formed at the centerline of the *** weld-bonded j.ints exhibited an average peak load and energy absorption of about 8.5 kN and 17 j. respectively(the conventional RSW j.ints failed with minimal or no load application). The failure mode of the j.ints changed with increasing welding current from interfacial failure via the Mg nugget/upper ASS interface to partial interfacial failure(part of the Mg nugget was pulled out of the Mg sheet). Both failure modes were accompanied by cohesive failure in the adhesive zone.

The developments of multi-core systems(MCS)have considerably improved the existing technologies in thefield of computer *** MCS comprises several processors that are heterogeneous for resource capacities,working environments,topologies,and so *** existing multi-core technology unlocks additional research opportunities for energy minimization by the use of effective task *** the same time,the task scheduling process is yet to be explored in the multi-core *** paper presents a new hybrid genetic algorithm(GA)with a krill herd(KH)based energy-efficient scheduling techni-que for multi-core systems(GAKH-SMCS).The goal of the GAKH-SMCS tech-nique is to derive scheduling tasks in such a way to achieve faster completion time and minimum energy *** GAKH-SMCS model involves a multi-obj.ctivefitness function using four parameters such as makespan,processor utilization,speedup,and energy consumption to schedule tasks *** performance of the GAKH-SMCS model has been validated against two datasets namely random dataset and benchmark *** experimental outcome ensured the effectiveness of the GAKH-SMCS model interms of makespan,pro-cessor utilization,speedup,and energy *** overall simulation results depicted that the presented GAKH-SMCS model achieves energy effi-ciency by optimal task scheduling process in MCS.

First Insights into the Viral Communities of the Deep-sea Anoxic Brines of the Red Sea

The deep-sea brines of the Red Sea include some of the most extreme and unique envi- ronments on Earth. They combine high salinities with increases in temperature, heavy metals, hydrostatic pressure, and anoxic conditions, creating unique settings for thriving populations of novel extremophiles. Despite a recent increase of studies focusing on these unusual biotopes, their viral communities remain unexplored. The current survey explores four metagenomic datasets obtained from different brine-seawater interface samples, focusing specifically on the diversity of their viral communities. Data analysis confirmed that the particle-attached viral communities present in the brine-seawater interfaces were diverse and generally dominated by Candovirales, yet appearing distinct from sample to sample. With a level of caution, we report the unexpected finding of Phycodnaviridae, which infects algae and plants, and trace amounts of insect-infecting Iridoviridae. Results from Kebrit Deep revealed stratification in the viral communities present in the interface： the upper-interface was enriched with viruses associated with typical marine bacteria, while the lower-interface was enriched with haloviruses and halophages. These results provide first insights into the unexplored viral communities present in deep-sea brines of the Red Sea, represent- ing one of the first steps for ongoing and future sampling efforts and studies.

Influence of Carbohydrates, Mineral Nutrients and Plant Hormones in Alternate Bearing of Black Pepper (<i>Piper nigrum</i>L.)

Alternate bearing habit, a common phenomenon prevalent in some of the fruit trees is observed in black pepper variety Panniyur-1 also. In this study, an attempt was made to investigate the role of carbohydrates, mineral nutrients and plant hormones (IAA and zeatin riboside) in alternate bearing in Panniyur-1 variety. The experiment was conducted for three consecutive years at Murugaraj.ndra estate, Madikeri, Karnataka, India (12.42。N, 75.73。E). Carbohydrate, mineral nutrient and plant hormone (IAA and zeatin riboside) statuses of the leaves as well as fruiting branches (stem) were compared between good fruiting year (on year) and low fruiting year (off year). Results revealed that concentration of mineral nutrients in leaves was more during on year compared to off year while the reverse was true on the stem. Both stem and leaf metabolite levels at harvest were higher in off year compared to on year suggesting that remobilization of nutrients to the developing berries must have been affected during off year, thus leading to accumulation of more nutrients at harvest in off year compared to on year. Leaf had higher concentration of most of mineral nutrients compared to stem. Spraying of 1% solution of complex fertilizer 19:19:19 (percent N:P:K) three times at an interval of 3 weeks from flower primordial initiation to flowering period enhanced the yield to the extent of around 30% during off year. Auxin to cytokinin ratio was 6.6 and 6.1 in on year and 6.3 and 5.7 in off year at flowering and 3 months after flowering respectively, suggesting that this ratio itself may not play a maj.r role in flowering during on and off years, though the ratio was slightly more during on year. Results of the study indicate that efficient utilization of metabolites and nutrients in on year may render vine weak in the subsequent year coupled with poor remobilization into developing berries, which could make it an off year.
