Effects of densification of poplar wood（Populus nigra） impregnated with nano-aluminum oxide（NA） and pre-treated with water vapor for 4 and 6 h were investigated in the present study. Physical and mechanical properties of treated poplar wood were measured according to the ASTM D-143 standard specifications, and then compared with the untreated specimens. Results showed significant improvement in all properties as a result of densification. A 4-h vapor pre-treatment improved effects on both physical and mechanical properties. When the duration of vapor-treatment increased to 6 h, wood polymers degraded to the extent that the improvements due to the vapor pre-treatment decreased substantially, though the final results were still significant improvements compared with the control specimens. High thermal conductivity coefficient of NA slightly but not significantly improved properties. Due to the high spring-back after 15 days,densified poplar is not recommended for applications in which densified wood will be exposed for long periods to high humidity or to direct water.

ObjectiveNon-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) remains a common challenge in uro-oncology with conflicting reports on recurrence risk. This study aimed to elucidate the recurrence rate of NMIBC in the Cancer Clinic of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Iran and to investigate related parameters affecting recurrence *** data of 143 patients with NMIBC, who underwent treatment between January 2017 and January 2020 and were followed up from the initial transurethral resection of bladder tumor until November 30, 2020 in our institution, were retrospectively assessed. The Cox regression analysis and Kaplan–Meier plot of recurrence-free survival were used to determine independent contributing factors for tumor *** patients with NMIBC, 83.9% were male, and 16.1% were female, with a mean age of 64.4 (standard deviation [SD] 12.9) years. During the follow-up, 71 (49.7%) patients showed tumor recurrence, with a mean recurrence time of 11.5 (SD 6.9) months. In the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, the age (≥65 years) (p=0.037), obesity (body mass index ≥30 kg/m^(2)) (p=0.004), no diabetes mellitus (p=0.005), smoking (current or former smoker) (p=0.001), immediate perfusion therapy (p=0.035), number of tumors (>3) (p<0.001), and tumor stage (Ta, T1, and Tis) (p=0.001) had independent significant effects on the recurrence of NMIBC. The multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that preoperative obesity (hazards ratio [HR] 7.90;95% confidential interval [CI] 4.01–15.55;p<0.001), current or former smoking (HR 1.85;95% CI 1.07–3.20;p=0.027), and a high-grade tumor (HR 4.03;95% CI 1.59–10.25;p=0.003) were significant predictors of tumor recurrence. This study investigates the effect of graphene oxide(GO)on the mechanical and corrosion behavior,antibacterial performance,and cell response of Mg–Zn–Mn(MZM)***/GO nanocomposites with different amounts of GO(i.e.,0.5 wt%,1.0 wt%,and1.5 wt%)were fabricated by the semi-powder metallurgy *** influence of GO on the MZM nanocomposite was analyzed through the hardness,compressive,corrosion,antibacterial,and cytotoxicity *** experimental results showed that,with the increase in the amount of GO(0.5 wt%and 1.5 wt%),the hardness value,compressive strength,and antibacterial performance of the MZM nanocomposite increased,whereas the cell viability and osteogenesis level decreased after the addition of 1.5 wt%***,the electrochemical examination results showed that the corrosion behavior of the MZM alloy was significantly enhanced after encapsulation in 0.5 wt%*** summary,MZM nanocomposites reinforced with GO can be used for implant applications because of their antibacterial performance and mechanical property.

Although cultivation and utilization of Pistacia are fully exploited, the evolutionary history of the Pistacia genus and the relationships among the species and accessions is still not well understood. The aim of this study was to analyze random amplified polymorphic DNA（RAPD） in a total of 50 accessions of wild pistachio species, which included five populations Pistacia vera, Pistacia khinjuk,Pistacia atlantica, Pistacia mutica, and Pistacia *** levels of genetic diversity were detected within wild pistachio accessions, as revealed by using the unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic averaging and supported via analysis of molecular variance. The objectives of this investigation were to estimate marker indices, polymorphic information contents（PICs）, and genetic similarities（GS）for RAPD markers; assess the genetic diversity of Pistacia species, using GS estimated from RAPD fingerprints and molecular characterization; and facilitate the use of markers in inter-specific introgression and cultivar *** of the 149 polymerase chain reaction fragments that were scored, 146（97.98 %） were polymorphic. Genetic similarities ranged from 0.3 to 0.86 %, marker indices ranged from 2.98 to 17.74 %, and PICs ranged from 0.80 to0.99 %. Our results provided great molecular identification of all assayed genotypes, which have shown that there is large quantity of genetic diversity among the pistachio accessions. This finding might render striking information in breeding management strategies for genetic conservation and cultivar development.

Water saturation determination in core laboratory is known as a cost and time consuming ***,many scientists attempted to estimate accurately water saturation from well-logging data which has a continuous record without losing ***,various model were introduced to relate reservoir properties and water *** carbonate reservoir is very heterogeneous in shape and size of pore throat,the relation between water saturation and other carbonates reservoir properties is very complex,and causes considerable overall errors in water saturation *** increasing the usage and improvement of soft computing methods in engineering problems,petroleum engineers have been attended them to measure the petrophysical properties of the *** this study,a radial basis function neural network(RBFNN)improved by genetic algorithm has been employed to estimate formation water saturation by using conventional well-logging *** used logging and core data have been gathered from a carbonated formation from one of oilfield located in south-west Iran,and finally their results of the proposed model were compared with the core analysis *** checking the testing data from another well,it showed this method had a 0.027 for mean square errors and its correlation coefficient is equal to *** results implied on high accuracy of this model for oil saturation degree *** the common methods like Archie,had a 0.041 mean square error and 0.720 of the correlation coefficient,which indicate a high ability of RBF model than the other usual empirical methods.

The expansive clays are extremely sensitive to the slight moisture alteration,exhibiting sequentially volume *** settlement of the buildings and infrastructures underlying expansive soil is a critical challenge that geotechnical engineers have to deal ***,the objective of this study is to assess the alteration in the compressibility behavior of expansive clay respecting partial replacement of cement by zeolite in cemented *** this purpose,7 and 28 d cured samples treated with 6%,8%,10%,and 12%cement addition and 0,10%,30%,50%,70%,and 90%cement replacement by zeolite were investigated through Atterberg limit and a series of one-dimensional consolidation tests to evaluate the consistency limits and compressibility *** liquid limits of the soil samples indicated a decremental trend as the cement content ***,the increase of zeolite replacement up to 30%in each specific cement content diminished liquid limit to its lowest *** increment of zeolite replacement increased the liquid limit of the soil-binder *** lowest plasticity index was also achieved at the 30%zeolite replacement percentage;hence,the lowest swelling potential would be resulted,concerning an indirect *** results of the consolidation experimentations disclosed that zeolite replacement had adverse influence on consolidation parameters of cemented samples such as compression index,swell index,coefficient of compressibility,coefficient of volume compressibility,and coefficient of consolidation after 7 d of curing whereas after 28 d of curing,the 30%zeolite-replaced samples represented the best consolidation ***,it can be stated that the addition of cement alongside the partial substitution of cement by zeolite can be a beneficial strategy for the geo-environmental targets of this study.

Background:Complementary medicine is an interesting field for extracting bio-active compounds from various plant and animal *** hepatoprotective effect of the methanolic extract of a species of sea cucumber called Holothuria leu-cospilota in an animal model of liver cancer caused by dimethyl nitrosamine(DMN)was ***:Wistar female rats were randomly divided into five groups(n=12):control(intact),positive control(received 1%DMN[10 mg/kg/week,intraperitoneally]for 12 weeks),and three treatment groups(received 50,100,and 200 mg/kg/day ***-cospilota extract orally for 12 weeks along with intraperitoneal administration of 1%DMN[10 mg/kg/week]).In all groups,ultrasound was performed on the liver every week to check its *** sampling and liver isolation were performed on three occasions,at 4,8,and 12 weeks,to check liver enzymes and the histopathological condition of the liver tissue(every week,four animals from each group were randomly selected).Results:Liver density changes were evident from the eighth week onward in the positive control *** results indicated pathologic changes in the positive control group after 4 *** increase in liver enzymes in the posi-tive control group was significantly different from that in the treatment and control ***:We demonstrated the hepatoprotective effect of *** on DMN-induced liver damage in rats using biochemical and histological parameters and *** additional research(in silico or in vitro)is needed to find the exact mechanism and the main biological compound in ***.
