Modified switched IMM estimator based on autoregressive extended Viterbi method for maneuvering target tracking

In this paper, a new approach of maneuvering target tracking algorithm based on the autoregressive extended Viterbi(arEV) model is proposed. In contrast to weakness of traditional constant velocity(CV) and constant acceleration(CA) models to noise effect reduction, the autoregressive(ar) part of the new model which changes the structure of state space equations is proposed. Also using a dynamic form of the state transition matrix leads to improving the rate of convergence and decreasing the noise effects. Since ar will impose the load of overmodeling to the computations, the extended Viterbi(EV) method is incorporated to ar in two cases of EV1 and EV2. According to most probable paths in the interacting multiple model(IMM) during nonmaneuvering and maneuvering parts of estimation, EV1 and EV2 respectively can decrease load of overmodeling computations and improve the ar performance. This new method is coupled with proposed detection schemes for maneuver occurrence and termination as well as for switching initializations. Appropriate design parameter values are derived for the detection schemes of maneuver occurrences and terminations. Finally, simulations demonstrate that the performance of the proposed model is better than the other older linear and also nonlinear algorithms in constant velocity motions and also in various types of maneuvers.

Effect of Aqueous Extract of <i>Phoenix dactylifera</i>Pollen on Dopamine System of Nucleus Accumbens in Male Rats

Background: Dopamine has been known to facilitate male sexual function. Methods: The effect of aqueous extract (140 mg/kg) of Phoenix dactylifera date palm pollen on sexual behavior and determining of dopamine transmission in the nucleus accumbens was studied in male rats using in vivo microdialysis. Results: Releasing of dopamine increased significantly in the nucleus accumbens when a receptive female was introduced behind a screen (p 0.001). During copulation, dopamine increased markedly in control and treated rats. Phoenix dactylifera Date Palm Pollen enhanced the orientation of males towards females by increasing mounting and ano-genital investigatory behavior. Improving of sexual behavior and dopamine release was higher in treated rats in comparison with control (p 0.001). Conclusion: These results indicate a neurochemical basis for interaction between dopaminergic agents and male sexual behavior. Therefore, Phoenix dactylifera Date Palm Pollen seems to act as a dopamine agonist and to cure male infertility. It can be used as an aphrodisiac that leads to further increases in dopamine release.

Comparative Human Landing Catch and CDC Light Trap in Mosquito Sampling in Knowlesi Malaria Endemic areas in Peninsula Malaysia

Adult mosquito sampling techniques are essential for monitoring transmission of malaria and other mosquito borne infections. Preference for any sampling technique depends on both its field efficiency and the characteristics of local vector populations. Surveys on adult mosquitoes using Human Landing Catch (HLC) and CO2-baited CDC light trap (CDC-LT) techniques were conducted in several knowlesi malaria endemic areas between the months of March to December 2012 in several states of Peninsula Malaysia. These two techniques were relatively compared to determine the preferences of anopheline mosquitoes towards CO2-baited CDC-LT technique using HLC technique as the reference method. Cx. gelidus, An. maculates and An. introlatus were the main three species collected by HLC technique, whereas the species collected by CO2-baited CDC-LT technique were mostly An. cracens, ar. durhami and Coquillettidia species. Most of the Anopheles species were collected almost exclusively by the human collectors except for An. cracens and An. introlatus which were collected using both techniques. Anopheles cracens was the most dominant species captured using CO2-baited CDC-LT technique. This is the first report showing An. cracens was caught using CO2-baited CDC-LT technique in Malaysia.
