Mitigating diabetes-related complications:Empowering metformin with cholecalciferol and taurine supplementation in type 2 diabetic rats

BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide,significantly impacting patients'quality of *** treatment options like metformin(MET)effectively counteract hyperglycemia but fail to alleviate diabetes-associated complications such as retinopathy,neuropathy,nephropathy,hepatopathy,and cardiovascular *** To propose the supplementation of cholecalciferol(CHO)and taurine(TAU)to enhance MET efficacy in controlling diabetes while minimizing the risk of associated *** The study involved sixty rats,including ten non-diabetic control rats and fifty experimental rats with type 2 diabetes induced by *** experimental rats were further subdivided into positive control and treatment *** four treatment groups were randomly allocated to a single MET treatment or MET combined with supplements either CHO,TAU,or *** diabetic rats exhibited elevated levels of glucose,insulin,Homeostasis Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance(HOMA-IR),glycated hemoglobin percentage,lipid markers,aspartate aminotransferase,and malondialdehyde,along with reduced levels of antioxidant enzymes(catalase and superoxide dismutase).The administration of CHO and TAU supplements alongside MET in diabetic rats led to a noticeable recovery of islet *** antioxidative,anti-inflammatory,and anti-apoptotic properties of the proposed combination therapy significantly ameliorated the aforementioned *** The supplementation of CHO and TAU with MET showed the potential to significantly improve metabolic parameters and protect against diabetic complications through its antioxidative,anti-inflammatory,and antiapoptotic effects.

A reliable approach based on a multi-verse optimization algorithm(MVO)for designing load frequency control incorporated in multi-interconnected power system comprising wind power and photovoltaic(PV)plants is presented in this *** has been applied for optimizing the control parameters of the load frequency controller(LFC)of the multi-source power system(MSPS).The MSPS includes thermal,gas,and hydro power plants for energy ***,the MSPS is integrated with renewable energy sources(RES).The MVO algorithm is applied to acquire the ideal parameters of the controller for controlling a single area and a multi-area MSPS integrated with *** link is utilized in shunt with AC multi-areas interconnection tie *** proposed scheme has achieved robust performance against the disturbance in loading conditions,variation of system parameters,and size of step load perturbation(SLP).Meanwhile,the simulation outcomes showed a good dynamic performance of the proposed controller.

In this work,conducting composites of nanocellulose(NC)/polypyrrole nanoparticles(NPPy)and silver nanoparticles(AgNPs),i.e.,NC/NPPyAg,were synthesized for the first time,to the best of our knowledge,via in situ emulsion polymerization of pyrrole in the presence of surfactant *** AgNPs acted as an oxidizing agent to simultaneously incorporate nanoparticles into the prepared *** structures and morphologies of the prepared composites were studied using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD),UV-Vis Spectra,thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),and scanning and transmission electron microscopy(SEM and TEM)***,the prepared composites were characterized by their conductivities,and the dielectric constants(e΄),dielectric losses(e˝),and AC conductivities were studied for the prepared composites with an increasing NPPy content as a function of the frequency.

The current article addresses a new strategy for the preparation of polylactic acid/cellulose nanocrystal(PLA/CNCs)nanobiocomposite films with improved structural morphology,mechanical and barrier properties for food packaging *** addition of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)and sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS)as cationic and anionic surfactants respectively,was found to play a crucial role in preventing re-aggregation of the CNCs during drying and improving the dispersion of CNCs in the *** coated paper was characterized using mechanical tests,water vapor permeability(WVP),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and air *** results showed that the paper coated with PLA containing 7.5%CNCs and 0.15%CTAB based on weight of PLA,gives the highest measured paper properties,where an increase in tensile strength(+133%),Young’s modulus(+309%),tear index(+183%),burst(+60.8)and a decrease in air permeability(−92%)was obtained.

This work provides an approach to determine the efficiency of T-ray detectors with a good accuracy in order to determine the concentrations of either naturally occurring or artificially prepared radionuclides. This approach is based on the efficiency transfer formula （ET）, the effective solid angles, the self- absorptions of the source matrix, the attenuation by the source container and the detector housing materials on the detector efficiency. The experimental calibration process was done using radioactive （Cylindrical ＆ Marinelli） sources, in different dimensions, that contain aqueous 152Eu radionuclide. The comparison point to a fine agreement between the experimental measured and calculated efficiencies for the （NaI ＆ HPGe） detectors using volumetric radioactive sources.

BACKGROUND The treatment of late stages of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease(LCPD)is *** the concept of femoral head containment is a well-established technique of treatment,its use remains debatable in the late stages of the disease,as it does not improve symptoms in terms of limb length discrepancy and *** To assess the results of subtrochanteric valgus osteotomy in symptomatic patients with late-stage Perthes *** From 2000 to 2007,36 symptomatic patients with late stage of Perthes disease were surgically treated with subtrochanteric valgus osteotomy and followed-up for 8 to 11 years using the IOWA score and range of motion(ROM)*** Mose classification was also assessed at the last follow-up to reflect possible *** patients were 8 years old or older at the time of surgery,in the post-fragmentation stage,and complaining of pain,limited ROM,Trendelenburg gait,and/or abductor *** The preoperative IOWA score(average:53.3)markedly improved at the 1-year post follow-up period(average:85.41)and then slightly improved at the last follow-up(average:89.4)(P value<0.05).ROM improved,with internal rotation increased on average by 22°(from 10°preoperatively to 32°postoperatively)and abduction increased on average by 15.9°(from 25°preoperatively to 41°postoperatively).The mean Mose deviation of femoral heads was 4.1 mm at the end of the follow-up *** tests used were the paired t-test and Pearson correlation test,where the level of significance was a P value less than *** Subtrochanteric valgus osteotomy can be a good option for symptomatic relief in patients with late-stage of LCPD.

Alpha spectrometry using pulse height analysis has been used for the determination of uranium concentrations in different environmental samples. The concentration of 238U was measured by both destructive and non-destructive techniques with a detection limit of less than 1.8 mBq/kg. However, because of the extremely low 234U concentrations in environmental samples, it was necessary to use a destructive technique to separate U from the sample matrices as well as remove interfering elements from the sample solution to determine 238U/234U ratio. In this study, the uranium was separated from the environmental samples using anion exchangers in (Dowex 1 × 8 Cl? form) and purified via co-precipitation with Lanthanum fluorides (LaF3) and the alpha source prepared by electrodeposition. The results obtained were validated using some certified reference samples.
