The effect of cigarette sm.king on lipid profile and CBC (Com.lete Blood Count) of blood was investigated in this study. Spectrophotom.tric m.thods were used to estim.te the am.unts of nicotine, cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL-cholesterol. The findings revealed that cigarette sm.kers and the duration of sm.king had significantly higher levels of nicotine and cholesterol when com.ared to non-sm.kers. The data also revealed differences in the contents of hem.tological param.ters between sm.kers’ and non-sm.kers’ blood sam.les, with high counts of WBC, m.HC, HGB, and PLT clearly visible in the sm.kers’ sam.les. However, there was no discernible effect on RBC, m.V, or m.H counts in the trial. Sm.ker sam.les had high PLT values (243.8 ± 84.26), while non-sm.ker sam.les had lower PLT values (229.3 ± 30.07 on average).

Five perovskite ceram.cs sam.les of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction *** prepared sam.les were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform. infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis *** shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis shows the perovskite cubic structure as the m.jor phase in all *** FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm.(-1) ascribed to the antisym.etric O-Sn-O ***-Vis spectroscopy was used to determ.ne the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancem.nt in the bandgap from.3.2 to 3.3 eV for all ***-ray shielding properties of the synthesized sam.les were experim.ntally m.asured and com.ared with XCOm.com.utational *** relative differences(Δ,%)between experim.ntal and theo retical values are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gam.a shielding *** contrast,charged particles’shielding param.ters gradually reduce with rising Er *** results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) sam.les can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

AIm.To determ.ne whether the levator palpebrae superioris(LPS)/superior rectus(SR)m.scle com.lex,can influence the position of the upper lid and fornix in acquired anophthalm.c ***:This com.arative non-random.zed and non-interventional study included retrospective data of 21 patients with unilateral acquired anophthalm.c sockets repaired with spheric ***-resolution com.uted tom.graphy(CT)m.asurem.nts of the LPm.SR m.scle com.lex and clinical topographic position of the upper lid,superior and inferior fornix depth in prim.ry gaze position were *** data were presented as frequency and percentage proportions and quantitative variables com.aring the socket m.asurem.nts with the norm.l contralateral orbit was statistically analyzed using non-param.tric tests considering Pm.c orbits had a significantly shorter LPS length(P=0.01)and significantly thicker SR(P=0.02)than the norm.l *** was present in anophthalm.c sockets but not in norm.l orbits(P=0.002),while levator function was norm.l in both(P>0.05,all com.arisons).The superior fornix depth was sim.lar in the anophthalm.c socket and the contralateral norm.l orbit(P=0.192)as well the inferior fornix depth(P=0.351).CONCLUSION:Acquired anophthalm.c sockets repaired with spheric im.lants have shorter LPS,thicker SR,and m.re lagophthalm.s than norm.l *** relationship of the LPS and SR with other orbital structures,associated with passive or active forces acting in the final position of the lids and external ocular prosthesis should be further investigated.

The effect of tertiary flow length on asphalt concrete(AC) flow num.er(FN) has been studied in this paper. The standard FN test(AASHTO T378) designated by Am.rican Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials(AASHTO) is currently am.ng the widely adopted test for assessing the rutting perform.nce of AC m.xtures. The standard adopts the Fracken m.del(Fm. for fitting the perm.nent deform.tion curve(PDC), prior to FN estim.tion. The FN was observed to vary as tertiary flow progresses. The Fm. along with other PDC m.dels(m.m.1 and m.m.2) obtained by m.difying the Fm. was utilized to analyze and m.nim.zed this variation. Variation of FN resulted because of m.them.tization of the PDC data. Instead of representing the actual initiating point of perm.nent shear deform.tion of the strain data, estim.ted values of FN were observed to indicate the inflection points of the fitted parent curve. As per standard FN range suggested by AASHTO T378, the observed variation in FN leads to the situation, where a single asphalt m.x specim.n can be regarded as appropriate for two different traffic levels, depending on the tertiary flow point at which the test is term.nated. Supplem.ntary steps in the FN estim.tion m.thods were proposed for refinem.nt of FN values. For the refinem.nt and further standardization of FN value and FN test respectively, FN:T(flow num.er to test duration ratio) has been recognized as the key and m.st sim.le solution. Two potential options for em.loying FN:T in the estim.tion of FN have also been highlighted. Several im.ortant correlations have been reported herein as well. Com.aratively, m.m.1 was found to be m.re robust in FN:T curve utilization than m.m.2 and Fm.

The boundary-layer flow and heat transfer in a viscous fluid containing m.tallic nanoparticles over a nonlinear stretching sheet are analyzed. The stretching velocity is assum.d to vary as a power function of the distance from.the origin. The governing partial differential equation and auxiliary conditions are reduced to coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations with the appropriate corresponding auxiliary conditions. The resulting nonlinear ordinary differential equations （ODEs） are solved num.rically. The effects of various relevant param.ters, nam.ly, the Eckert num.er Ec, the solid volum. fraction of the nanoparticles ~, and the nonlinear stretching param.ter n are discussed. The com.arison with published results is also presented. Different types of nanoparticles are studied. It is shown that the behavior of the fluid flow changes with the change of the nanoparticles type.

The cooling of a(pebble bed)spent fuel in a high-tem.erature gas-cooled reactor(HTGR)is adversely affected by an increase in the tem.erature of the used gas(air).To investigate this problem.a configuration consisting of three copper spheres arranged in tandem.subjected to a forced m.stflow inside a cylindrical channel is *** heat transfer coefficients and related variations as a function of Reynolds num.er are investigated *** experim.ntal results show that when com.ared to those with only airflow,the heat transfer coefficient of the spherical elem.nts with m.stflow(j=112 kg/m. hr,Re=55000)increases by 180%,75%,and 20%,respec-tively for thefirst,second,and third spherical elem.nt(the corresponding heat transfer enhancem.nt ratio being 2.3,1.4,and 1.1).Additional num.rical sim.lations reveal that the presence of stagnant zones with intense vortex form.tion around each spherical elem.nt contributes significantly to determ.ne the heat transfer behavior.
