Phenotypic and phylogenetic characterization of Lactobacillus species isolated from traditional Lighvan cheese

Lighvan cheese(Lighvan panir)is among the most famous traditional cheese in Iran for its desired aroma and ***,the lactic acid bacteria especially the genus Lactobacillus are the critical factors in developing the aroma,flavor,and texture in Lighvan *** this study,the Lactobacillus population of the main Lighvan cheese was *** Lactobacillus of the main Lighvan cheese was isolated using specific culture methods according to previously published ***,the phylogenetic features were investigated and the phenotypic characteristics were examined using specific culture ***-eight Gram-positive bacterial species were identified belonged to the genus *** to the same sequences as each other,three groups(A,B,and C)of isolates were categorized with a high degree of similarity to ***(100%)and *** group(***,***,and ***)(99.0 to 100%).Random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD)fingerprint analysis manifested the presence of three clusters that were dominant in traditional Lighvan ***Іwas divided into 4 *** the result of carbohydrate fermentation pattern and 16S rRNA sequencing,isolates were identified as *** isolates in clusters II and III represented *** and ***,respectively as they were identified by 16S rRNA sequencing and fermented carbohydrate *** result indicated that the specific aroma and flavor of traditional Lighvan cheese can be related to its Lactobacillus population including ***,***,***,and ***.

AIM:To compare the subjective refraction data with autorefraction findings in high ***:In a cross-sectional study,sampling was done from in different geographic regions in Iran using a multistage random cluster sampling *** study participants underwent cycloplegic auto-refraction and subjective refraction using the red-green ***:In this study,277 eyes of 158 students aged 8 to 15y were *** to the results,the mean difference between subjective refraction and autorefraction in measuring sphere,cylinder,spherical equivalent,J0,and J45 was-0.18±0.76,-0.36±0.40,-0.36±0.79,0.15±0.20,and 0.05±0.21 *** correlation of these two refraction methods in measuring the aforementioned indices was 0.963,0.898,0.960,0.931,and 0.948 *** 95%limits of agreement of the two methods in measuring the above indices were-1.66 to 1.31,-1.14 to 0.42,-1.91 to 1.19,-0.24 to 0.54,and-0.36 to 0.47 *** agreement between the two methods decreased with increasing cylinder power,and the best agreement was found in myopic ***:The measurements obtained by autorefractometer have a significantly higher cylinder average compared to subjective ***,in the cylinder range of 4–5 diopters,the values of J0 and J45 do not have a high correlation.

Assessment of cyclic deformation and critical stress amplitude of jointed rocks via cyclic triaxial testing

Jointed rock specimens with a natural replicated joint surface oriented at a mean dip angle of 60were prepared,and a series of cyclic triaxial tests was performed at different confining pressures and cyclic deviatoric stress *** samples were subjected to 10,000 loading-unloading cycles with a frequency of 8 *** each level of confining pressure,the applied cyclic deviatoric stress amplitude was increased incrementally until excessive deformation of the jointed rock specimen was *** of the test results indicated that there existed a critical cyclic deviatoric stress amplitude(*** dynamic deviatoric stress)beyond which the jointed rock specimens *** measured critical dynamic deviatoric stress was less than the corresponding static deviatoric *** cyclic deviatoric stress amplitudes less than the critical dynamic deviatoric stress,minor cumulative residual axial strains were observed,resulting in hysteretic ***,for cyclic deviatoric stresses beyond the critical dynamic deviatoric stress,the plastic strains increased promptly,and the resilient moduli degraded rapidly during the initial loading *** triaxial test results showed that at higher confining pressures,the ultimate residual axial strain attained by the jointed rock specimen decreased,the steadystate dissipated energy density and steady-state damping ratio per load cycle decreased,while steadystate resilient moduli increased.

Mitigating the dead-layer effect in nanocapacitors using graded dielectric films

As ideal candidates for next-generation energy storage devices,nanocapacitors are predicted to exhibit very high capacitance according to classical ***,the actual capacitance of nanocapacitors is dramatically lower than *** is attributed to the so-called‘dead-layer’effect associated with the flexoelectricity of dielectric films and the incomplete screening of metal *** this paper,a way to mitigate this negative effect is demonstrated by using graded dielectric films instead of homogeneous *** enhancements due to grading dielectric films were obtained by using perturbation theory to solve the governing equations with boundary conditions in Mindlin’s model of parallel-plate *** have shown that by grading both the relative permittivity and the elastic constant,we can obtain enhancement of almost 27%in capacitance for the 2.7 nm SrTiO_(3) dielectric *** addition,the impact of various dielectric film properties on the overall capacitance was investigated.

This research concerns the delivery of sustainable building *** projects are defined as those which either attempt to achieve green ratings or are claimed to address certain sustainability issues.A key focus is to examine how the client’s vision for sustainability is achieved or compromised by the practicality of *** sustainability rating systems,the Australian Green Star and the Living Building Challenge from the *** *** research examines two projects;one university multipurpose building(SMART Infrastructure Facility);and an advanced research facility,the Sustain-able Buildings Research Centre(SBRC).The methodology used is semi-structured interviews of key participants and stakeholders for the two university *** outcome of this research indicates that environmental rating systems are useful tools to construct reasonably sustainable *** interviewees,however,believe that for their next projects the concern would be to continue to construct sustainable buildings but not necessarily by following the strict criteria and reporting requirements of the environmental rating system.

Endoscopy in neutropenic and/or thrombocytopenic patients

AIM: To evaluate the safety of endoscopic procedures in neutropenic and/or thrombocytopenic cancer patients. METHODS: We performed a literature search for English language studies in which patients with neutropenia and/or thrombocytopenia underwent endoscopy. Studies were included if endoscopic procedures were used as part of the evaluation of neutropenic and/or thrombocytopenic patients,yielding 13 studies. Two studies in which endoscopy was not a primary evaluation tool were excluded. Eleven relevant studies were identified by two independent reviewers on Pub Med,Scopus,and Ovid ***: Most of the studies had high diagnostic yield with relatively low complication rates. Therapeutic endoscopic interventions were performed in more than half the studies,including high-risk procedures,such as sclerotherapy. Platelet transfusion was given if counts were less than 50000/mm3 in four studies and less than 10000/mm3 in one study. Other thrombocytopenic precautions included withholding of biopsy if platelet count was less than 30000/mm3 in one study and less than 20000/mm3 in another study. Two of the ten studies which examined thrombocytopenic patient populations reported bleeding complications related to endoscopy,none of which caused major morbidity or mortality. All febrile neutropenic patients received prophylactic broad-spectrum antibiotics in the studies reviewed. Regarding afebrile neutropenic patients,prophylactic antibiotics were given if absolute neutrophil count was less than 1000/mm3 in one study,if the patient was undergoing colonoscopy and had a high inflammatory condition without clear definition of significance in another study,and if the patient was in an aplastic phase in a third study. Endoscopy was also withheld in one study for severe pancytopenia. CONCLUSION: Endoscopy can be safely performed in patients with thrombocytopenia/neutropenia. Lichen planus is a fairly common chronic idiopathic disorder of the skin,nails and mucosal *** involvement of this disease on the other hand is rare and only about 50 cases have been reported in *** its rarity,it can be difficult to diagnose and may be easily misdiagnosed as reflux ***,there are no clear recommendations on the optimal management of this disease and little is known about the best treatment *** steroids are usually the first line treatment and offer a favorable *** this report,we would like to present a novel approach in the management of esophageal lichen planus in a middle-aged woman treated successfully with swallowed fluticasone propionate 220 mcg twice a day for 6 wk,as evidenced by objective clinical *** on our review of related literature and experience in this patient,we feel that a trial of swallowed fluticasone may be a prudent approach in the management of these patients since it has a more favorable side effect profile than systemic treatment.

Effects of variations of voltage and pH value on the shear strength of soil and durability of different electrodes and piles during electrokinetic phenomenon

Effect of changing mesopic and photopic light conditions on visual functions

AIM:To determine the effects of change in light conditions on refractive error and visual functions including visual acuity,stereopsis and contrast ***:This cross-sectional study was conducted in the optometry clinic of the Shahid Beheshti School of Rehabilitation on 48 students in *** of them had eye health and normal visual function and could have refractive errors or *** intensity of 4 lx was considered equivalent to photopic light condition and light intensity of 1 lx was considered to be equivalent to mesopic light *** amount of refractive error was checked by auto refractometer and its changes in mesopic light condition were subjectively ***,visual acuity,stereopsis and contrast sensitivity(in five spatial frequencies of 1.5,3,6,12,and 18 cycles per degree),were measured first in photopic light condition and then in mesopic light condition,by Snellen control vision chart,stereo butterfly test and the M&S technology monitor test ***:In the 48 student subjects with an average age of 22.69±3.56y,mean of refractive error as sphere equivalent,visual acuity and stereopsis were-1.25±1.74 diopters,0 logMAR,44.37±13.03 seconds of arc,respectively in photopic light condition while in mesopic light was equal to-1.56±1.75 diopters,0.12±0.09 logMAR and 50.62±33.35 seconds of arc,*** mean of contrast sensitivity measured at spatial frequencies of 1.5,3,6,12,and 18 cycles per degree in photopic condition was equal to 2.38±0.04,2.37±0.07,2.04±0.21,1.27±0.32,0.82±0.27 logarithm of contrast sensitivity,respectively and in mesopic lighting condition was equal to 2.34±0.12,2.30±0.16,1.84±0.28,1.02±0.28,0.63±0.24 logarithm of contrast sensitivity,*** analysis showed a significant difference between the two lighting conditions in all evaluated variables[refractive error(P<0.001),visual acuity(P<0.001),stereopsis(P=0.008)and contrast sensitivity(P<0.001)].CONCLUSION:The refractive
