Antioxidants have numerous applications due to their multiple roles in diminishing harmf.l ef.ects of.oxidative stress. The objective of.this work was to highlight the importance of.green tea by evaluating the antioxidant activity of.the most popular green tea brands in Saudi Arabia, Lipton and Rabea. To our knowledge, no studies have so f.r been done to estimate the antioxidant activity of.these brands. To determine the antioxidant activities of.these two brands, 10 mg/ml of.each brand was extracted and their total phenolic content (TPC), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, hydrogen peroxide scavenging activity, f.rric reducing power and f.rrous ion chelating ef.ect were measured. The TPC of.Lipton tea was 678.7 υg of.gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/10mg, whereas in Rabea tea, the TPC was 647.1 υg GAE/10mg. The presence study indicated that there were no signif.cant dif.erences in total phenolic contents and the percentage inhibition as shown in DPPH and H2O2 assays among Lipton and Rabea green teas. Moreover, it was f.und that all assays have exhibited high antioxidant activity in both green teas. In conclusion, our study showed evidence f.r evenness and stability of.the antioxidant activity of.the two commercial green teas available in the markets of.Saudi Arabia. Continued researches are needed to f.rther the current knowledge on the health-promoting ef.ects of.this popular beverage using dif.erent supplements by dif.erent mechanisms.

Tea is the most widely consumed beverage throughout the world, af.er water and is considered as a good antioxidant nutrient against f.ee radical reactions. Lemons are citrus f.uits that are very common in many parts of.the world and are well known f.r their health benef.ts. In this study, dif.erent assays were used to evaluate total phenolic content and antioxidant activities of.green tea with and without lemon. Our results showed that green tea with lemon has higher phenolic content, stronger reducing power than green tea without lemon;and exhibits a signif.cant inhibition of.2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). However, both samples exhibited high f.rrous chelating activity with no signif.cant dif.erence among each other indicating a good antioxidant potential f.r both. This is a comparative study between green tea and green tea supplemented with lemon. The study contributes to a better understanding about how the addition of.supplements like lemon might inf.uence the antioxidant activity of.tea.

Analysis and Review of.Downregulated Actin Cytoskeletal Proteins in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Actin, a highly conserved protein, plays a dominant role in Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Late diagnosis and the aggressive nature of.NSCLC pose a signif.cant threat. Studying the clinic pathological properties of.NSCLC proteins is a potential alternative f.r developing treatment strategies. Towards this, 35 downregulated actin cytoskeletal proteins on NSCLC prognosis and treatment were studied by examining their protein-protein interactions, gene ontology enrichment terms, and signaling pathways. Using PubMed, various proteins in NSCLC were identif.ed. The protein-protein interactions and f.nctional associations of.these proteins were examined using the STRING database. The f.cal adhesion signaling pathway was selected f.om all available KEGG and Wiki pathways because of.its role in regulating gene expression, f.cilitating cell movement and reproduction, and signif.cantly impacting NSCLC. The protein-protein interaction network of.the 35 downregulated actin cytoskeleton proteins revealed that ACTG1, ACTR2, ACTR3, ANXA2, ARPC4, f.NA, TLN1, CalD1, MYL6, MYH9, MYH10, TPM1, TPM3, TPM4, Pf.1, IQGAP1, MSN, and ZXY exhibited the highest number of.interactions. Whereas HSPB1, CTNNA1, KRT17, KRT7, f.NB, SEPT2, and TUBA1B displayed medium interactions, while UTRN, TUBA1B, and DUSP23 had relatively f.wer interactions. It was discovered that f.cal adhesions are critical in connecting membrane receptors with the actin cytoskeleton. In addition, protein kinases, phosphatases, and adapter proteins were identif.ed as key signaling molecules in this process, greatly inf.uencing cell shape, motility, and gene expression. Our analysis shows that the f.cal adhesion pathway plays a crucial role in NSCLC and is essential f.r developing ef.ective treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes.

Gamma-ray spectroscopy based on a 100% ef.iciency hyper-pure germanium detector was used to evaluate the activity concentrations of.226Ra, 232Th, and 40K natural radionuclides in sedimentary, conglomerate, igneous and sedi-ments rock samples collected f.om f.ur dif.erent locations in Eastern desert in Egypt. The obtained activity concentrations are used to evaluate the radi-ological hazards indices, absorbed dose rate, annual ef.ective dose equivalent in air, radium equivalent, external and internal hazard index, radiation level index, annual gonadal dose equivalent, excess lif.time cancer risk and expo-sure rate. The results show that 1) the absorbed dose rate depends on the rock type, 2) the annual ef.ective dose equivalent in air in 71% of.sample below 20 mSvy-1 (permissible limit f.r workers), 3) the conglomerate rocks show low radioactivity level, 4) sedimentary rocks are rich in radium while igneous rocks are rich in thorium and the sediments rocks are rich in both radium and thorium.

Cancer therapy agents have been used extensively as cytotoxic drugs against tissue or organ of.a specif.c type of.cancer. With the better understanding of.molecular mcchanislns undcrlying carcinogenesis and cellular events during cancer progression and metastasis, it is now possible to use targeted therapy f.r these molecular events. Targeted therapy is able to identif. cancer patients with dissimilar genetic def.cts at cellular level f.r the same cancer type and consequently requires individualized approach f.r treatment. Cancer therapy begins to shill steadily f.om the tra- ditional approach of.＂one regimen f.r all patients＂ to a more individualized approach, through which each patient will be treated specif.cally according to their specif.c genetic def.cts. Personalized medicine accordingly requires identif.cation of.indicators or markers that guide in the decision mak- ing of.such therapy to the chosen patients f.r more ef.ective therapy. Cancer biomarkcrs are f.e- quently used in clinical practice f.r diagnosis and prognosis, as well as identif.cation ol responsive patients and prediction of.treatment response of.cancer patient. The rapid breakthrough and development of.microarray and sequencing technologies is probably the main tool f.r paving the way toward ＂individualized biomarker-driven cancer therapy＂ or ＂personalized medicine＂. In this review, we aim to provide an updated knowledge and overview of.the currcnt landscape of.cancer biomarkers and their role in personalized medicine, emphasizing the impact of.gcnomics Oil the implementation of.new potential targeted therapies and development of.novel cancer biomarkers in improving the outcome of.cancer therapy.
