A comparative study of liquid and solid inner contact roxatidine acetate ion-selective electrode membranes

A comparative study was conducted using two designs of a roxatidine acetate （ROX）-selective electrode; a conventional liquid inner contact called electrode A and a graphite-coated solid contact called electrode 13. The fabrication of electrodes was based on roxatidine-tetraphenylborate （ROX-TPB） as an ion-association complex in a PVC matrix using different plasticizers. electrode A has a linear dynamic range of 2.2 ×10^-5 mol/L to 1.0 ×10^-2 mol/L, with a Nernstian slope of 54.7 mV/decade and a detection limit of 1.4 ×10^-6 mol/L. electrode B shows linearity over the concentration range of 1.0×10^-6 mol/L to 1.0×10^-2 tool/L, with a Nernstian slope of 51.2 mV/decade and a limit of detection of 1.1×10^7 mol/L which is remarkably improved as a result of diminishing ion fluxes in this solid contact, ion-selective electrode. The proposed sensors display useful analytical characteristics for the determination of ROX in bulk powder and its pharmaceutical formulation. The present electrodes show clear discrimination of ROX from several inorganic, organic ions, sugars, some common drug excipients and the degradation product （3-[3-（1-piperidinyl methyl） phenoxy] propyl amine） of ROX. Furthermore, the proposed electrodes were utilized for the determination of ROX in human plasma, where electrode B covers drug Cmax which indicated its applicability to pharmacokinetic, bioavailability and bioequivalent studies. The results obtained by the proposed electrodes were statistically analyzed and compared with those obtained by a reported HPLC method. No significant difference for either accuracy or precision was observed.

Diverse features of magnetization curves of uniaxial crystals：A simulation study

We present a simulation of the magnetization curves, energy, probability, and torque landscapes of uniaxial systems with up to five anisotropy constants. The total energy used in the simulation is the sum of the anisotropy and Zeeman energies. The exchange interaction is not considered in the present work in which we treat single-domain-particle systems within a classical mechanics-based model. Diverse features of the calculated magnetization curves are highlighted for the studied systems. These diverse features are strongly dependent on the sign and magnitude of the simulation *** model is versatile enough to handle both hypothetical and real material systems, e.g. HoFe（11）Ti and Y2Co（17）.

p53 antibodies,metallothioneins,and oxidative stress markers in chronic ulcerative colitis with dysplasia

AIM:To investigate the role of p53 antibodies (p53Abs),metallothioneins (MTs) and oxidative stress markers in the early detection of dysplasia in chronic ulcerative colitis (UC).MeTHODS:The study included 30 UC patients,15 without dysplasia (group Ⅱ) and 15 with dysplasia (group Ⅲ),in addition to 15 healthy volunteers (group Ⅰ,control subjects).The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technique was used to measure serum p53Abs and MTs,while advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs),and reduced glutathione (GSH) levels were measured by spectrophotometric method in all ***:In group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ compared to group Ⅰ,there were significant increases in serum levels of AOPPs (145.94 ± 29.86 μmol/L and 192.21 ± 46.71 μmol/L vs 128.95 ± 3.06 μmol/L,P espectively),MTs (8.18 ± 0.35 μg/mL and 9.20 ± 0.58 μg/mL vs 6.12 ± 0.25 μg/mL,P espectively),and p53Abs (20.19 ± 3.20 U/mL and 34.66 ± 1.34 U/mL vs 9.42 ± 1.64 U/mL,P espectively).There were significantly higher levels of AOPPs (P ents with dysplasia compared to those without dysplasia,while MTs showed no significant difference between the 2 groups (P > 0.096).In contrast,GSH levels showed a significant decrease in both patients' groups (1.87 ± 0.02 μmol/mL and 1.37 ± 0.09 μmol/mL vs 2.49 ± 0.10 μmol/mL,P espectively) compared with group Ⅰ,and the levels were significantly lower in group Ⅲ than group Ⅱ (P ere was a positive correlation between AOPPs and both MTs (r=0.678,P etween p53Abs and MTs (r=0.739,P ere was a negative correlation between AOPPs and GSH (r =-0.385,P etween GSH and both MTs (r=-0.662,P e stress and oxidative cellular damage play an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic UC and the associated carci

Toxoplasma gondii infection among chronic hepatitis C patients:A casecontrol study

Objective:To determine the detection rate of anti-Toxoplasma gondii(***) IgG and IgM in chronic HCV patients attending the Department of Tropical Medicine Mansoura University hospital in ***:This study included 120 adult chronic HCV patients.81 decompensate cirrhosis(late-stage)and 39 chronic HCV non cirrhotic patients(early-stage) and40 healthy blood donors as *** samples uere examined for anti-Toxoplasma IgM and anti-Toxoplasma IgG antibodies by ***-time RT-polymerase chain reaction assay was done for quantitation of hepatitis C ***:*** IgG antibodies were detected in 75(92.6%) of 81 late-stage cirrhotic patients.30(76.9%) of the 39 chronic HCV non cirrhotic patients(early-Stage) and in 6(15ft) of 40 controls with statistically significant difference(Pes were found in 11(13.6%) in late stage patients,5(12.8%)in early stage and in 3(7.5%) of controls with no statistical significant difference(P=0.610).There was no correlation between stage of fibrosis and IgM or IgG antibodies positivity in our studied groups(P=0.526).High IgG levels significantly correlated with high viral load(P=0.026).Conclusions:Our findings suggest that the serious opportunistic *** infection represent a potential significant risk for chronic HCV *** should be considered in their investigations and follow-up.

Using the underwater acoustic channel(UWA)for information dissemination requires a high data ***,some phenomena like refraction,reflection,phase shift,and high attenuation are undesirably apparent when the subject of using UWA is ***,sound communication would be a highly challenging task to be ***,proposing a model of acoustic underwater communication channels is critical because of the multipath interference originating from the surface and bottom of the *** this contribution,a straightforward geometry channel model for vertical and horizontal marine communications is *** do so,transmission loss and channel impulse response are analyzed as a function of transmitter and receiver distance,water depth,and reflection *** results of the model proposed in this paper are in very good agreement with those available in the *** findings indicate that the delay spread of horizontal communication with a 1000 m range reaches79 ms and 0.3 s for 30 m vertical communication.

Octreotide ameliorates gastric lesions in chronically mild stressed rats

AIM:To evaluate the effect of chronic mild stress(CMS) on the emergence of gastric ulcers and possible modulation by octreotide,a synthetic somatostatin analogue. MeTHODS:Adult male Wistar rats were subjected to nine different unpredictable random stress procedures for 21 d,a multifactorial interactional animal model for *** was administered daily for 21 d at two dose levels(50 and 90μg/kg)before exposure to stress ***-and microscopical assessments were made,in addition to quantification of plasma corticosterone and gastric mucosal inflammatory,oxidative stress, and apoptotic biomarkers. ReSULTS:exposure to CMS elevated plasma corticosterone(28.3±0.6μg/dL,P=0.002),an event that was accompanied by gastric lesions(6.4±0.16 mm,P=0.01) and confirmed ***,the insult elevated gastric mucosal lipid peroxides(13±0.5 nmol/g tissue,P=0.001),tumor necrosis factor-α(3008.6±78.18 pg/g tissue,Pe2(117.1 ±4.31 pg/g tissue,P=0.002),and caspase-3 activity (2.4±0.14 OD/mg protein,P=0.002).Conversely,CMS mitigated interleukin-10(627.9±12.82 pg/g tissue,P= 0.001).Furthermore,in animals exposed to CMS,octreotide restored plasma corticosterone(61%and 71%from CMS,P=0.002)at both dose *** beneficial effects were associated with a remarkable suppression of gastric lesions(38%and 9%from CMS,P=0.01)and reversal of derangements in gastric mucosa. CONCLUSION:The current investigation provides evidence that exposure to CMS induces gastric ulceration, which was alleviated by administration of octreotide possibly possessing antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and anti-apoptotic actions.

Intrusion Detection Systems(IDSs)have a great interest these days to discover complex attack events and protect the critical infrastructures of the Internet of Things(IoT)*** IDSs based on shallow and deep network architectures demand high computational resources and high volumes of data to establish an adaptive detection engine that discovers new families of attacks from the edge of IoT ***,attackers exploit network gateways at the edge using new attacking scenarios(i.e.,zero-day attacks),such as ransomware and Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)*** paper proposes new IDS based on Few-Shot Deep Learning,named CNN-IDS,which can automatically identify zero-day attacks from the edge of a network and protect its IoT *** proposed system comprises two-methodological stages:1)a filtered Information Gain method is to select the most useful features from network data,and 2)one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)algorithm is to recognize new attack types from a network’s *** proposed model is trained and validated using two datasets of the UNSW-NB15 and *** experimental results showed that it enhances about a 3%detection rate and around a 3%–4%falsepositive rate with the UNSW-NB15 dataset and about an 8%detection rate using the BoT-IoT dataset.
