a.M: To a.sess vita.in D in hepa.itis C pa.ients a.d its rela.ionship to interleukin (IL)-23, IL-17, a.d ma.ropha.e chemoa.tra.ta.t protein-1 (MCP-1). METHODS: The study wa. conducted on 50 Egyptia. hepa.itis C virus (HCV) genotype number IV-infected pa.ients a.d 25 a.e- a.d gender-ma.ched hea.thy subjects. Venous blood sa.ples were obta.ned. Sa.ples were a.lowed to clot a.d sera.were sepa.a.ed by centrifuga.ion a.d stored a. -20?°C. a.25 hydroxy vita.in D a.sa. wa. ca.ried out using solid pha.e RIa. a.1,25 dihydroxy vita.in D a.sa. wa. ca.ried out using a.commercia. kit purcha.ed from Incsta. Corpora.ion. IL-17 a.d -23 a.d MCP-1 were a.sa.ed by a. enzyme immunoa.sa.. Qua.tita.ive a.d qua.ita.ive polymera.e cha.n rea.tion for HCV virus were done by Ta.Ma. technology. Only HCV genotype IV-infected subjects were included in the study. The mea. ± SD were determined, a.t-test for compa.ison of mea.s of different pa.a.eters wa. used. Correla.ion a.a.ysis wa. done using Pea.son’s correla.ion. Differences a.ong different groups were determined using the Kruska.-Wa.lis test. RESULTS: The mea. vita.in D level in HCV pa.ients (group?I) wa. 15 ± 5.2 ng/mL while in control (group II) wa. 39.7 ± 10.8. For a.tive vita.in D in group?I?a. 16.6 ± 4.8 ng/mL while in group II wa. 41.9 ± 7.9. IL-23 wa. 154 ± 97.8 in group?I?a.d 6.7 ± 2.17 in group II. IL-17 wa. 70.7 ± 72.5 in ca.es a.d 1.2 ± 0.4 in control. MCP-1 wa. 1582 ± 794.4 in group?I?a.d 216.1 ± 5.38 in group II. Vita.in D deficiency a.fected 72% of HCV-infected pa.ients a.d 0% of the control group. Vita.in D insufficiency existed in 28% of HCV-infected pa.ients a.d 12% of the control group. One hundred percent of the cirrhotic pa.ients a.d 40% of non cirrhotic HCV-infected pa.ients ha. vita.in D deficiency. IL-23, IL-17, a.d MCP-1 were ma.kedly increa.ed in HCV-infected pa.ients in compa.ison to controls.a.significa.t nega.ive correla.ion between vita.in D a.d IL-17 a.d -23 a.d MCP-1 wa. detected. a.new chemica.ly modified ca.bon pa.te electrode for cesium(I) ion determina.ion ba.ed on pota.sium zinc hexa.ya.-oferra.e (PZHCF) a. a. ionophore wa. prepa.ed. The electrode exhibits a.Nernstia. response for Cs(I) ions over a.wide concentra.ion ra.ge from 1 × 10-6 to 1 × 10-1 mol·L-1 with a.slope of 58 ± 0.5 mV·deca.e-1. It ha. a.response time of a.out 35 s a.d ca. be used for a.period of 3 months with good reproducibility. Detection limit obta.ned in the optima. conditions wa. 3 × 10-7 mol·L-1. The potentiometric response is independent of the pH of the solution in the pH ra.ge 4.0 - 8.0. The electrode possesses the a.va.ta.es of low resista.ce, fa.t response over a.va.iety of other ca.ions. The proposed electrode is a.plied a. a.sensor for the determina.ion of Cs(I) ion concentra.ion in different sa.ples solutions. The results showed a.good correla.ion with the da.a.obta.ned by a.omic a.sorption spectrometric method.

The purpose of this study wa. to exa.ine the preva.ence of body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion, weight a.d physica. a.tivity sta.us a.ong university students a.d predictors for body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion. a.cross sectiona. study wa. ca.ried out in a.sa.ple comprising of 368 fema.e a.d ma.e university students a.ed 18 yea.s or more a. King Fa.sa. University, Sa.di a.a.ia. Body weight, height, Body Sha.e Questionna.re (BSQ) a.d physica. a.tivity level were used a. a.sessment tools. Chi-squa.e a.d independent sa.ple T-test were used to a.sess gender difference. Linea. regression a.a.ysis wa. conducted to exa.ine predictors of the body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion. Overa.l, 65% of students ha. norma. BMI, more ma.es then fema.es overweight (23%), while more fema.es underweight (16.8%). Fema.es ha.e higher body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion (33.5%) then ma.es (21.4%), ha.f of ma.es ina.tive a.d this percenta.e increa.ed in fema.es to (73.8%). Overweight ma.es were more dissa.isfied with their body sha.e (10.7%) tha. fema.es (6.3%). a.most one fifth of ina.tive ma.es dissa.isfied compa.a.le to qua.ter ina.tive fema.es dissa.isfied with their body sha.e. Younger a.e is predictor for body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion in both genders, a.so weight in ma.es. BMI a.d being ma.ried fema.e wa. predictor for body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion. Collectively results indica.e tha. body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion a.d ina.tive lifestyle were preva.ent a.ong fema.es tha. ma.e’s a.e, weight;BMI a.d ma.ita. sta.us wa. the most predictor for body sha.e dissa.isfa.tion. However developing educa.iona. progra. to promote body sha.e sa.isfa.tion a.d a.tive lifestyle will be very useful especia.ly a.ong fema.es.

Ba.kground: Despite the dieta.y guidelines for hea.thy ea.ing (HE) a.d da.ly recommended food servings to promote hea.thy dieta.y pa.terns a.ong the popula.ion in Sa.di a.a.ia. the incidence of unhea.thy ea.ing ha. increa.ed. Methods: We used the Theory of Pla.ned Beha.ior (TPB) a. a.conceptua. fra.ework to expla.n a.d understa.d importa.t fa.tors a.fecting HE a.ong Sa.di a.ults. Six hundred forty-seven Sa.di a.ults were recruited for a. online survey. Results: The mea. a.e of the subjects wa. 26.74 ± 8.21 yea.s;the ma.ority of subjects (74.1%) were young a.ults a.d were prima.ily fema.e (60.1%). The correla.ion a.a.ysis indica.ed a.positive correla.ion between a.l the TPB components a.d HE. The present study shows tha. positive a.titudes a.d perceived beha.iora. control a.e the strongest predictors of HE intuition. The pa.h a.a.ysis showed a.good overa.l model fit (RMSEa.= 0.034;CFI = 0.975;NFI = 974;GFI = 0.975) (χ2 = 4.1964, df = 3, p = 0.45). Conclusion: Understa.ding the fa.tors tha. influence beha.ior ca. improve dieta.y pa.terns a.d qua.ity of life a.d ca. reduce the risks of chronic disea.es.

Osteoporosis ha. been recognized a. a.ma.or public hea.th problem by hea.thca.e providers in Sa.di a.a.ia. The present study exa.ines the osteoporosis knowledge, hea.th beliefs, a.d some of the life ha.its in two different Sa.di women’s groups (with fa.ily history, a.d without fa.ily history), to find the a.socia.ion of their knowledge a.d hea.th beliefs with their preventive pra.tice. This is a.descriptive cross-sectiona. study conducted a.ong a.convenience sa.ple of 288 young a.e (20 to 40 yea.s) women a.tending the hea.th centers in a.-Ha.sa. Sa.di a.a.ia. Both groups ha. a. ina.equa.e da.ly ca.cium inta.e with a.significa.t difference between them. The women without fa.ily history ha. low mea. of knowledge (8.9 ± 2.7) compa.ed with fa.ily history group (9.3 ± 2.7) with a.significa.t difference (p = 0.04). Ba.ed on the Osteoporosis Hea.th Belief Sca.e (OHBS) subsca.e mea. score, the perceived susceptibility a.d perceived severity were lower in women without fa.ily history with a.significa.t difference between the groups (p = 0.02, 0.00;respectively). The fa.ily history group ha. lower mea. score ba.riers of ca.cium inta.e a.d exercise with a.significa.t difference between groups (p = 0.017, 0.013;respectively). Sta.istica.ly significa.t correla.ion wa. found between ca.cium inta.e a.d OHBS subsca.e perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits of ca.cium inta.e a.d exercise, a.d perceived ba.riers of exercise only for the fa.ily history group. This study indica.es ina.equa.e da.ly ca.cium inta.e, with modera.e knowledge of osteoporosis in Sa.di women a.d highlights the need for diet a.d life ha.its interventions to improve ca.cium inta.e a.d exercise, which ma. help to reduce the burden of osteoporosis in Sa.di a.a.ia.
