Macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)is a chemokine that plays an essential role in immune system *** studies suggested that MIF protects neurons in ischemic ***,few studies are reported on the role of MIF in neurological recovery after ischemic *** purpose of this study is to identify the molecular mechanism of neuroprotection mediated by *** neuroblastoma cells were incubated in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium under oxygen-glucose deprivation(OGD)for 4 hours and then returned to normal aerobic environment for reperfusion(OGD/R).30 ng/mL MIF recombinant(30 ng/mL)or ISO-1(MIF antagonist;50μM)was administered to human neuroblastoma *** cell cultures were assigned to one of four groups:control,OGD/R,OGD/R with MIF,OGD/R with *** viability was analyzed using WST-1 *** levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),microtubule-associated protein 2(MAP2),Caspase-3,Bcl2,and Bax were detected by western blot assay and immunocytochemistry in each group to measure apoptotic ***-1 assay results revealed that compared to the OGD/R group,cell survival rate was significantly higher in the OGD/R with MIF group and lower in the OGD/R with ISO-1 *** blot assay and immunocytochemistry results revealed that expression levels of BDNF,Bcl2,and MAP2 were significantly higher,and expression levels of Caspase-3 and Bax were significantly lower in the MIF group than in the OGD/R *** levels of BDNF,Bcl2,and MAP2 were significantly lower,and expression levels of Caspase-3 and Bax were significantly higher in the ISO-1 group than in the OGD/R *** administration promoted neuronal cell survival and induced high expression levels of BDNF,MAP2,and Bcl2(anti-apoptosis)and low expression levels of Caspase-3 and Bax(pro-apoptosis)in an OGD/R *** results suggest that MIF administration is effective for inducing expression of BDNF and leads to neuroprotection of neuronal cells

Compared to organic thin films,organic single crystals offer significant potential in organic phototransistors(OPTs)due to their enhanced charge transport,large surface area,and defect-free ***,the development of n-type semiconductors has lagged behind p-type *** enhance semiconductor device performance,a doping process can be employed,which typically involves the introduction of charged impurities into the crystalline semiconducting *** aim is to reduce the Ohmic losses,increase carrier density,improve transport capabilities,and facilitate effective carrier injection,ultimately enhancing the electrical properties of the *** doping processes,however,often pose a risk of damaging the structure of single *** this study,we have synthesized novel cyanosubstituted chiral perylene diimides,which self-assemble into two-dimensional single crystals that can be used for n-type semiconductor *** have employed a surface doping strategy using diethylamine vapor without disrupting the crystal *** fabricated devices exhibit significantly higher charge transport properties after doping,achieving a maximum electron mobility of 0.14 cm^(2)V^(-1)s^(-1),representing an improvement of over ***,the optoelectronic performance of the doped devices has significantly improved,with the external quantum efficiency increased by over 9 times and the significantly improved response *** results suggest that our surface doping technology is a promising way for enhancing the performance of 2D organic single-crystal OPTs.

Suture suspension techniques have been reported in the cosmetic surgery literature for several decades, but 2 points fixation of these techniques has generally resulted in a significant relapsed and loss of the initial soft tissue elevation. A barbed polypropylene suture has provided for a tension Load Sharing internal fixation system and the hope of diminished relapse following suture suspension suture lifting. 1～2 barbed polypropylene sutures per side are passed subcutaneously and above frontalis and counter-traction barbed sutures passed subgalleally,to elevate the tail,middle and/or head of the brow.

Local therapy modalities such as radiation therapy,photodynamic therapy,photothermal therapy,and cryoablation have been used to treat localized tumors for *** discovery of the abscopal effect causes a paradigm shift where local therapy also causes systemic effects and leads to the remission of nonirradiated *** abscopal effect of radiation therapy,alone or in combination with other treatments,has been extensively studied over the last six ***,the results are unsatisfactory in producing robust,reproducible,and long‐lasting systemic *** immunotherapy and radiation therapy are promising in producing the abscopal effect,the abscopal effect's mechanism is still unclear,owing to various factors such as irradiation type and dose and cancer *** article reviews the research progress,clinical and preclinical evidence of the abscopal effect by various local therapies alone and in combination with chemotherapy and immunotherapy,case reports,and the current challenges in producing the abscopal effect by various local therapies,focusing on radiotherapy,photodynamic therapy,cryoablation,and the prospects for obtaining a robust,reproducible,and long‐lasting abscopal effect.

Risk factors for complications associated with upper gastrointestinal foreign bodies

AIM: To investigate predictive risk factors associated with complications in the endoscopic removal of foreign bodies from the upper gastrointestinal ***: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 194 patients with a diagnosis of foreign body impaction in the upper gastrointestinal tract,confirmed by endoscopy,at two university hospital in South *** demographic data,including age,gender,intention to ingestion,symptoms at admission,and comorbidities,were *** features of the foreign bodies,such as type,size,sharpness of edges,number,and location,were *** data those were analyzed included duration of foreign body impaction,duration of endoscopic performance,endoscopic device,days of hospitalization,complication rate,30-d mortality rate,and the number of operationsrelated to foreign body ***: The types of upper gastrointestinal foreign bodies included fish bones,drugs,shells,meat,metal,and animal *** locations of impacted foreign bodies were the upper esophagus(57.2%),mid esophagus(28.4%),stomach(10.8%),and lower esophagus(3.6%).The median size of the foreign bodies was 26.2 ± 16.7 *** 194 patients,endoscopic removal was achieved in 189,and complications developed in 51 patients(26.9%).Significant complications associated with foreign body impaction and removal included deep lacerations with minor bleeding(n = 31,16%),ulcer(n = 11,5.7%),perforation(n = 3,1.5%),and abscess(n = 1,0.5%).Four patients underwent operations because of incomplete endoscopic foreign body *** multivariate analyses,risk factors for endoscopic complications and failure were sharpness(HR = 2.48,95%CI: 1.07-5.72; P = 0.034) and a greater than 12-h duration of impaction(HR = 2.42,95%CI: 1.12-5.25,P = 0.025).CONCLUSION: In cases of longer than 12 h since foreign body ingestion or sharp-pointed objects,rapid endoscopic intervention should be provided in patients with ingested foreign bodies.

利用平均驻留时间方法对基于模型的网络控制系统(model-based networked control system,MBNCS)进行了研究。MB-NCS由于能够在保证系统性能的前提下有效地减少系统对网络带宽的占用,自提出以来就受到了学者的广泛关注。首先总结了网络控制系统中常用的几种减少网络带宽占用的策略;其次,将基于模型的网络控制系统建模为切换系统,并在所建立的切换系统模型的基础上,利用平均驻留时间方法给出了使得此切换系统稳定的充分条件;最后,借助Lyapunov稳定性理论和线性矩阵不等式(linear matrix inequality,LMI)方法设计了使得此系统稳定的控制器,并且通过仿真验证了所提出方法的有效性。

Owing to the prevalence of rotator cuff(RC)injuries and suboptimal healing outcome,rapid and functional regeneration of the tendon-bone interface(TBI)after RC repair continues to be a major clinical *** the essential role of the RC in shoulder movement,the engineering of biomimetic multi-tissue constructs presents an opportunity for complex TBI reconstruction after RC ***,we propose a gradient cell-laden multi-tissue construct combined with compositional gradient TBI-specific bioinks via 3D cell-printing *** vitro studies demonstrated the capability of a gradient scaffold system in zone-specific inducibility and multi-tissue formation mimicking *** regenerative performance of the gradient scaffold on RC regeneration was determined using a rat RC repair *** particular,we adopted nondestructive,consecutive,and tissue-targeted near-infrared fluorescence imaging to visualize the direct anatomical change and the intricate RC regeneration progression in real time in ***,the 3D cell-printed implant promotes effective restoration of shoulder locomotion function and accelerates TBI healing in *** summary,this study identifies the therapeutic contribution of cell-printed constructs towards functional RC regeneration,demonstrating the translational potential of biomimetic gradient constructs for the clinical repair of multi-tissue interfaces.

Early experience of the compression anastomosis ring (CAR^(TM) 27) in left-sided colon resection

AIM:To evaluate clinical validity of the compression anastomosis ring(CARTM27) anastomosis in left-sided colonic resection. METHODS:A non-randomized prospective data collection was performed for patients undergoing an elective left-sided colon resection,followed by an anastomosis using the CARTM27 between November 2009 and January *** criteria of the use of the CARTM27 were anastomoses between the colon and at or above the intraperitoneal *** primary short-term clinical endpoint,rate of anastomotic leakage,and other clinical outcomes,including intraand postoperative complications,length of operation time and hospital stay,and the ring elimination time were evaluated. RESULTS:A total of 79 patients(male,43;median age,64 years) underwent an elective left-sided colon resection,followed by an anastomosis using *** was performed laparoscopically in 70 patients,in whom two patients converted to open procedure(2.9%) .There was no surgical *** an intraoperative complication,total disruption of the anastomosis occurred by premature enforced tension on the proximal segment of the anastomosis in one *** ring was removed and another new CARTM27 anastomosis was *** patient with sigmoid colon cancer showed postoperative anastomotic leakage after 6 d postoperatively and temporary diverting ileostomy was *** date of expulsion of the ring could not be recorded because most patients were not aware that the ring had been *** patients manifested clinical symptoms of anastomotic stricture. CONCLUSION:Short-term evaluation of the CARTM27 anastomosis in elective left colectomy suggested it to be a safe and efficacious alternative to the standard hand-sewn or stapling technique.

Body-Shaping Membrane to Regenerate Breast Fat by Elastic Structural Holding

Tissue regeneration requires structural holding and movement support using tissue-type-specific aids such as bone casts,skin bandages,and joint ***,an unmet need exists in aiding breast fat regeneration as the breast moves following continuous body motion by exposing the breast fat to dynamic ***,the concept of elastic structural holding is applied to develop a shape-fitting moldable membrane for breast fat regeneration(“adipoconductive”)after surgical defects are *** membrane has the following key characteristics:(a)It contains a panel of honeycomb structures,thereby efficiently handling motion stress through the entire membrane;(b)a strut is added into each honeycomb in a direction perpendicular to gravity,thereby suppressing the deformation and stress concentration upon lying and standing;and(c)thermo-responsive moldable elastomers are used to support structural holding by suppressing large deviations of movement that occur *** elastomer became moldable upon a temperature shift above T_(m).The structure can then be fixed as the temperature *** a result,the membrane promotes adipogenesis by activating mechanotransduction in a fat miniature model with pre-adipocyte spheroids under continuous shaking in vitro and in a subcutaneous implant placed on the motion-prone back areas of rodents in vivo.
