Effect of Curcuma longa *** on the AP1 expression in rat cochlear fibroblasts under noise conditions

Noise-induced cellular stress can cause damage to fibroblasts within the cochlear supporting tissues and lateral wall. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the role of curcumin as the safe and effective therapeutic agent in the prevention and treatment of this condition according to the expression of activator protein-1(AP1). A total of 24 Rattus norvegicus were randomly divided into four groups(n = 6). Group 1: control; group 2: noise(+); group 3: noise(+), 50 mg/day curcumin(+); group 4: noise(+), 100 mg/day curcumin(+). All groups(except for group 1) were subjected to a sound pressure level(SPL) of 100 d B for 2 h/day during 2 weeks. Curcumin used in this study was derived from Curcuma longa L.(Turmeric), and it was orally administered for 2 weeks. All samples were immunohistochemistrically examined for the expression of AP1 in cochlear fibroblasts. The results showed that there were significant differences for the AP1 expression(P<0.05) among all groups, except for between groups 1 and 3, or between groups 1 and 4. Our data proved that curcumin was potentially effective in the prevention and treatment of damage of fibroblasts within the cochlear supporting tissues and lateral wall due to the decreased AP1 expression following noise exposure.

本文基于对伊朗学生汉语和英语学习动机的研究。本研究的主要目的是比较伊朗伊斯法罕大学外语(汉语和英语)学习者的学习动机和学习态度,从而为完善伊朗的外语教学提出建议。本研究的统计人群包括伊斯法罕大学的本科汉语学习者(N=60)和英语学习者(N=60)。研究者通过问卷调查获得数据。计算中文问卷的Cronbach's alpha系数为847,计算英文问卷的Cronbach's alpha系数为729。Cronbach's alpha系数的估计值表明该计量器具具有足够的计量精度,换言之,其信度是可靠的。为了分析定量数据,使用SPSS软件版本20进行统计和描述。研究结果表明;这些学生学习汉语和英语的动机是不同的,且他们的学习态度也有不同,学生对学习英语的态度好于学习汉语的态度。汉语学生学习汉语的工具型动机高于融合型动机;但就英语学习者而言,结果恰恰相反,学生学习英语的融合型动机高于工具型动机。最后,根据研究结果提出建议,以提高学生学习英语和汉语的积极性。

BACKGROUND: Final comprehensive exam is the most important examination for midwifery students to evaluate their professional ability and Test anxiety is a common phenomenon among college students. Because test anxiety is one of the problems of educational systems, this study was performed to compare test anxiety in objective structured clinical examinations (OS-CEs) and traditional assessment methods (TAM) among Undergraduate Midwifery Students. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, 52 students of Babol Midwifery College were participated in the study. 20 students were evaluated using TAM in November 2010, and 32 students were evaluated using the OSCE method in July 2011. Data were collected via a two-component questionnaire including demographic data and the test anxiety inventory (TAI). Results: All of midwifery students were women;the mean age of students, ages of father and mother’s were 23.1 ± 0.7, 52.3 ± 3.5 and 47.8 ± 4.9 years, respectively. Most of the students were single (61.5%). The mean education levels of father and mother’s were 11.6 ± 4.5 and 9.9 ± 4.0 years, respectively. The mean score of test anxiety in students was 42.51 ± 13.16. The most of participants did have moderate test anxiety (56.9%), two present not had any test anxiety, 37.3% had low test anxiety, and 3.9% had severe test anxiety. In sum, 98% had some degrees of test anxiety. There were the statistical differences in the mean score of text anxiety in OSCEs Compared with TAM in Undergraduate Midwifery Students (39.38 ± 13.81 vs. 47.35 ± 10.67, P = 0.033). Also, the mean severity of anxiety was different in two groups. The mean of moderate/severe test anxiety was more in TAM compared with OSCEs (52.57% vs. 49.56%, p = 0.000). The test anxiety had a positive correlation with father’s education, mother’s education (0.286, p = 0.042), father’s age, mother’s age, marital status, residency (0.292, p = 0.042). Sarfirouzabad district, located in the Kermanshah province, is an eastward extension of Mahidasht Plain, one of the archaeologically well-known regions of the Central Zagros flanks. The area is surrounded by parallel mountain chains of Sefid on the north and Nessar on the south, the main water source of which is Ab-i Marik River flowing in the middle of the valley westward. The region has various environs such as alluvial deposits, steppe, wooden and barren foothills. The first archaeological survey of the region carried out in 2009, exploring 339 sites ranging from Paleolithic to the Islamic periods. 97 of the investigated sites were assigned to the Parthian period, one of the historical periods of ancient Iran. The study aimed to analyze spatial distribution patterns of the Parthian sites of the region as well as the nature and relationship between natural and cultural factors influencing on that distribution, using GIS technology. The results show that the distribution of the Parthian sites on the Sarfirouzabad district were influenced by a combination of natural and cultural factors and we can realize two kinds of patterns in their distributions over the region.

Background: Perineal traumas particularly caused by following vaginal delivery are associated with short and long term morbidity for women. Therefore, interventions that increase the probability of intact perineum are necessary. The aim of study was to determine the effect of perineal massage with a sterile lubricant on the incidence of episiotomy and perinea laceration. Materials: This clinical trial study was performed on 145 nulliparous women who referred to Amol Emam Ali teaching center for normal delivery. They were randomly participating in interventional group (massage with lubricant) (45 cases) or control group (100 cases). In massage group when they progressed to full dilatation of the cervix, the midwife inserted two fingers inside vagina and using a sweeping motion gently stretched the perineum with lubricant 5 up to 10 minutes, in and between mother’s pushing in the second stage of labour. In control group just Ritgen Maneuver was applied. At last, we compared the rate of intact perineum, episiotomy and laceration, mean duration of the second stage of labor and Apgar score in 1 and 5 minutes between two groups. Statistical analyses were performed using t-test, Chi Square to determine potentially significant associations, and a p value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The incidences of intact perineum, episiotomy and laceration were 22.2% (10), 44.4% (20), 33.3% (15) respectively in interventional group. In control group, intact perineum, episiotomy and laceration were: 20.2% (20), 49.3% (71), 28.3% (28) respectively. This difference was not statis- tically significant. Rate of first-degree laceration was 33.3% (15) in massage group, while this percent was 28.3% (28) in control group. This difference was not statistically significant. In massage and control groups, second, third and fourth-degree lacerations did not occur. Conclusion: The results showed that massage with a sterile lubricant provides no apparent and significant advantage

陶瓷材料具有高硬度、高强度、优异的耐腐蚀性和抗氧化性、低热膨胀、良好的耐用性以及在高温下具有很好的强度。这些特性使它们能够在许多应用中胜过金属或聚合物基材料,特别是在高温或腐蚀性环境等恶劣工作条件下。然而,陶瓷材料的固有脆性降低了它们承受机械冲击的能力,并限制了它们在工程领域的使用。克服这些问题的一种方法是使陶瓷材料内部具有适当形状和数量的孔隙。由此,设计和制造的多孔陶瓷材料有可能具有全新的性能和更广泛的用途。本项目研究多孔SiC发热体材料的制备与性能。论文以详尽的方式介绍了以往文献中有关多孔SiC陶瓷材料的研究工作,包括SiC固有的物理化学性质、SiC陶瓷特别是多孔碳化硅材料的研究与应用进展,报告了本项研究工作的目的和研究方法。由于多孔SiC陶瓷材料的特性取决于设计和制备方法,本文的重点是专门描述这些多孔SiC陶瓷材料的制备方法,并从纯度和粒度控制的角度对样品的表面形貌、孔隙率、吸水率、导电和导热性能进行比较。考虑到作为发热体的高温应用,多孔SiC陶瓷材料的孔隙形状和孔隙率以及电阻率与孔隙率的关系是本研究最有意义的内容。论文分析了原材料选择、制备方法、显微结构等对多孔SiC陶瓷材料的物理化学性能和电学性能的影响关系。研究发现,通过多种造孔剂选择、SiC颗粒粒径和配比选择以及烧结制度选择,证明了多孔SiC陶瓷材料设计与制备方法的合理性。通过构建以SiC颗粒为骨架的多孔SiC发热体材料的孔隙率和电阻率测定和分析,发现制备的多孔SiC发热体材料具有较高的结合强度、较低的密度、很大的比表面积大和很低的电阻率等独特的性能,为液态介质直接雾化应用提供了一种新型材料,并证明在这项工作中采用的实验方法是正确的。

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)is still one of the main causes of liver disease *** disorders,including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),induced by HCV have been shown to accelerate the progression of fibrosis to cirrhosis and to increase the risk of hepatocellular *** optimal peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha(PPARGC1A)activity is crucial to prevent NAFLD *** present study aims to investigate the associations between two common PPARGC1A polymorphisms(rs8192678 and rs12640088)and the outcomes of HCV infection in a North African context.A series of 592 consecutive Moroccan subjects,including 292 patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC),100 resolvers and 200 healthy controls were genotyped using a TaqMan allelic discrimination ***1A variations at rs8192678 and rs12640088 were not associated with spontaneous clearance of HCV infection(adjusted ORs=0.76 and 0.79 respectively,P[0.05,for both).Furthermore,multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that both SNPs were not associated with fibrosis progression(OR=0.71;95%CI 0.20–2.49;P=0.739;OR=1.28;95%CI 0.25–6.54;P=0.512,respectively).We conclude that,in the genetic context of South Mediterranean patients,rs8192678 and rs12640088 polymorphisms of PPARGC1 A are neither associated with spontaneous clearance nor with disease progression in individuals infected with HCV.
