Effects of additive NaI on electrodeposition of Al coatings in AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl molten salts

Effects of NaI as an additive on electrodeposition of Al coatings in AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl(80-10-10 wt-%)molten salts electrolyte at 150°C were investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry,chronopotentiometry,scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Results reveal that addition of NaI in the electrolyte intensifies cathodic polarization,inhibits growth of Al deposits and increases number density of charged particles.The electrodeposition of Al coatings in the AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl molten salts electrolyte proceeds via three-dimensional instantaneous nucleation which however exhibits irrelevance with NaI.Galvanostatic deposition results indicate that NaI could facilitate the formation of uniform Al deposits.A compact coating consisting of Al deposits with an average particle size of 3μm was obtained at a current density of 50 mA∙cm^(−2) in AlCl_(3)-NaCl-KCl molten salts electrolyte with 10 wt-%NaI.XRD analysis confirmed that NaI could contribute to the formation of Al coating with a preferred crystallographic orientation along(220)plane.

In the present study, six sediment cores were collected from six river-dammed reservoirs to reveal the geochemical distribution of heavy metals(As, Cd, Pb, Sb,and Zn) in the Longjiang River, South China, which is highly impacted by nonferrous metal mining and smelting activities. The sediments were geochemically characterized, combining geochemical analysis, sequential extractions, and210 Pb chronology. The results indicated that the river sediments were severely polluted by heavy metals in the order of Cd [ Zn & Pb & Sb [ As. These heavy metals generally exhibited relatively low enrichment in the upstream sediments because of the limited anthropogenic impact, but their abundances drastically increased in the midstream sediments due to local smelting activities. In downstream sediments, the heavy metal concentrations(except for Cd) decreased, owing to the effect of dam interception and detrital inputs. Cadmium levels tended to increase in downstream sediments, which were attributed to the intensive discharge of Cd during the pollution event in 2012. The sedimentary records were traced back to1985, and a significant decrease of heavy metal enrichments could be found after the year 2000, suggesting the enhancement of environmental management in this period.The statistical results indicated that local metal smelting and mining activities were the main anthropogenic contributors for the enrichment of heavy metals in the dammed-river sediments. High enrichment factor and nonresidual fractions of heavy metals in local sediments may pose a direct threat to aquatic organisms. Cd presents significant danger because of its extreme enrichment and high labile fractions.

The Na^(+)/vacancy ordering can effectively affect the electrochemical behavior of P2-type cathode material.In this work we proposed an integrated strategy by attaining a high Na content,In^(3+) doping in conjunction with NaInO_(2) coating in the P2-Na_(0.75)Mn_(0.67)Ni_(0.33)O_(2) which can inhibit the sodium vacancy order,smooth the electrochemical curve,and enhance the structural stability and rate capability.A combination of X-ray diffraction analysis and DFT calculation indicate that the In(3+) ions in the Na layer serve as"pillars”to stabilize the layered structure,especially for high current density charging.The P2-Na_(0.75)Mn_(0.67)Ni_(0.33)In_(0.02)O_(2) with an impressive sodium content exhibits a remarkable reversible capacity of 109.6 mAh g^(-1),superior rate capability capacity of 79.8 mAh g^(-1)at 20 C,and 85%capacity retention after 100 cycles at 5 C.This work demonstrates an efficient approach for the comprehensive optimization of sodium ion cathode materials.

Current methods for the analysis of channeling-path phenomena in reservoirs cannot account for the influence of time and space on the actual seepage behavior.In the present study,this problem is addressed considering actual production data and dynamic characteristic parameters quantitatively determined in the near wellbore area by fitting the water-cut curve of the well.Starting from the dynamic relationship between injection and production data,the average permeability is determined and used to obtain a real-time quantitative characterization of the seepage behavior of the channeling-path in the far wellbore area.For the considered case study(Jidong oilfield),it is found that the seepage capacity of the channeling-path in the far wellbore area is far less(10 times smaller)than that of the channeling-path in the near wellbore area.The present study and the proposed model(combining near wellbore area and far wellbore area real-time data)have been implemented to support the definition of relevant adjustment measures to ultimately improve oil recovery.

The development of polymerized fused-ring small molecule acceptors(FRA-PAs) has boosted the performance of all-polymer solar cells(all-PSCs).However,these FRA-PAs suffer from lengthy synthesis steps and high production costs due to the high degree of synthetic complexity for fused-ring small molecule acceptors(FRAs).Furthermore,most FRA-PAs exhibit strong batch-to-batch variation,limiting further industrial applications.Herein,we designed and synthesized asymmetric non-fused electron-deficient building block TIC-Br with a simple structure(only three synthetic steps),showing a planar configuration,excellent electron affinity,and large dipole moment.A simple polymer acceptor PTIB was further developed by polymerization of TIC-Br and sensitized fluorinated-thienyl benzodithiophene(BDT-TF-Sn).PTIB exhibits a broad absorption from 300 to 800 nm,a suitable lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO) energy level of-3.86 e V,and moderate electron mobility(1.02×10^(-4)cm^(2)V^(-1)s^(-1)).When matched with PM6,the device achieved the best PCE of 10.11%with a high V_(OC) of 0.97 V,which is one of the highest among those reported all-PSCs.More importantly,PTIB exhibits a lower synthetic complexity index(SC=35.0%)and higher figure-of-merit values(FOM=29.0%) than all the reported high-performance PAs.The polymer also exhibits excellent batch-to-batch reproducibility and great potential for scale-up fabrication.This study indicates that TIC-Br is a promising building block for constructing low-cost polymer acceptors for large-scale applications in all-PSCs.

Magnesium/sulfur battery(Mg/S)has recently received wide attention due to its high theoretical energy density(3,260 Wh/L)and low cost.To further improve its safety and flexibility,developing a polymer electrolyte that can be compatible with both electrophilic S and Mg is critical.Here,we report a magnesium chloride-(fluorinated tetraethylene glycolic)borate(MgCl-FTGB)based non-nucleophilic,gel-type polymer electrolyte for Mg/S battery via a facile synthetic method through commercially available reagents.This electrolyte coupled with glass fiber allows reversible Mg deposition/dissolution(100%coulombic efficiency)with low polarization(500μA/cm^2,300/300 mV),and shows a wide electrochemical window of 4.8 V(vs.Mg/Mg^2+).Mg/S battery assembled with this electrolyte can cycle over 50 times with a high specific discharge capacity retention of over 1,100 mAh/g.

Effect of densification distribution on the Young's modulus of porous coatings after nano-indentation

Nano-indentation of a porous ceramic coating leads to crushing and densification of the coating under the indenter. In this work, finite element simulations of indentation on the porous coating have been carried out to study the effect of the size and dis- tribution of densification on Youngts modulus measured by nano-indentation. Two totally different distribution patterns have been simulated in this work. In the case of gradient densification, the Youngts modulus increased by 8.6% when the densifi- cation has occurred in the maximum influenced area. While the Young^s modulus increased by 2% with a uniformed densification. Examinations of the cross-section of the coatings have suggested that the densification after the indentation is close to the second model. The measured Young＇s modulus could have differed by 2%. The effect of densification on the Young＇s modulus measured by using nano-indentation is strongly dependent on the densification patterns of the porous coating.

Microwave photonic sensors are promising for improving sensing resolution and speed of optical sensors.In this paper,a high-sensitivity,high-resolution temperature sensor based on microwave photonic flter(MPF)is proposed and demonstrated.A micro-ring resonator(MRR)based on silicon-on-insulator is used as the sensing probe to convert the wavelength shift caused by temperature change to microwave frequency variation via the MPF system.By analyzing the frequency shift with high-speed and high-resolution monitors,the temperature change can be detected.The MRR is designed with multi-mode ridge waveguides to reduce propagation loss and achieves an ultra-high Q factor of 1.01×10^(6).The proposed MPF has a single passband with a narrow bandwidth of 192 MHz.With clear peak-frequency shift,the sensitivity of the MPF-based temperature sensor is measured to be 10.22 GHz/℃.Due to higher sensitivity and ultra-narrow bandwidth of the MPF,the sensing resolution of the proposed temperature sensor is as high as 0.019℃.

Background:Screening using low-dose computed tomography(LDCT)is a more effective approach and has the potential to detect lung cancer more accurately.We aimed to conduct a meta-analysis to estimate the accuracy of population-based screening studies primarily assessing baseline LDCT screening for lung cancer.Methods:MEDLINE,Excerpta Medica Database,and Web of Science were searched for articles published up to April 10,2022.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,the data of true positives,false-positives,false negatives,and true negatives in the screening test were extracted.Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 was used to evaluate the quality of the literature.A bivariate random effects model was used to estimate pooled sensitivity and specificity.The area under the curve(AUC)was calculated by using hierarchical summary receiver-operating characteristics analysis.Heterogeneity between studies was measured using the Higgins I 2 statistic,and publication bias was evaluated using a Deeks’funnel plot and linear regression test.Results:A total of 49 studies with 157,762 individuals were identified for the final qualitative synthesis;most of them were from Europe and America(38 studies),ten were from Asia,and one was from Oceania.The recruitment period was 1992 to 2018,and most of the subjects were 40 to 75 years old.The analysis showed that the AUC of lung cancer screening by LDCT was 0.98(95%CI:0.96-0.99),and the overall sensitivity and specificity were 0.97(95%CI:0.94-0.98)and 0.87(95%CI:0.82-0.91),respectively.The funnel plot and test results showed that there was no significant publication bias among the included studies.Conclusions:Baseline LDCT has high sensitivity and specificity as a screening technique for lung cancer.However,long-term follow-up of the whole study population(including those with a negative baseline screening result)should be performed to enhance the accuracy of LDCT screening.
