Electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction(ENRR) provides a promising strategy to achieve sustainable synthesis of ammonia. However, despite great efforts devoted to this research field, the problems such as low energy efficiency and weak selectivity still impede its practical implementation. Most of the research to date has been concentrated on creating sophisticated electrocatalysts, and adequate knowledge of electrolytes is still lacking. Herein, the recent progress in electrolytes for ENRR, including alkaline, neutral,acidic, water-in-salt, organic, ionic liquid, and mixed water-organic electrolytes, is thoroughly reviewed to obtain an in-depth understanding of their effects on electrocatalytic performance. Recently developed representative electrocatalysts in various types of electrolytes are also introduced, and future research priorities of different electrolytes are proposed to develop new and efficient ENRR systems.

Objective:Epigenetic abnormalities have a critical role in breast cancer by regulating gene expression;however,the intricate interrelationships and key roles of approximately 400 epigenetic regulators in breast cancer remain elusive.It is important to decipher the comprehensive epigenetic regulatory network in breast cancer cells to identify master epigenetic regulators and potential therapeutic targets.Methods:We employed high-throughput sequencing-based high-throughput screening(HTS^(2))to effectively detect changes in the expression of 2,986 genes following the knockdown of 400 epigenetic regulators.Then,bioinformatics analysis tools were used for the resulting gene expression signatures to investigate the epigenetic regulations in breast cancer.Results:Utilizing these gene expression signatures,we classified the epigenetic regulators into five distinct clusters,each characterized by specific functions.We discovered functional similarities between BAZ2B and SETMAR,as well as CLOCK and CBX3.Moreover,we observed that CLOCK functions in a manner opposite to that of HDAC8 in downstream gene regulation.Notably,we constructed an epigenetic regulatory network based on the gene expression signatures,which revealed 8 distinct modules and identified 10 master epigenetic regulators in breast cancer.Conclusions:Our work deciphered the extensive regulation among hundreds of epigenetic regulators.The identification of 10 master epigenetic regulators offers promising therapeutic targets for breast cancer treatment.

Fabrication of CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2) photocatalyst with intrinsic p-n junction for highly efficient bisphenol A degradation

The construction and application of novel highly efficient photocatalysts have been the focus in the field of environmental pollutant removal.In this work,a novel CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)photocatalysts were synthesized by simple hydrothermal and chemical precipitation method.The fabricated CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)composite exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than pristine CuFe_(2)O_(4)and Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)in the removal of bisphenol A(BPA)under visible-light illumination,which ascribed to the intrinsic p-n junction of CuFe_(2)O_(4)and Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2).The photocatalytic degradation rate of BPA on CuFe_(2)O_(4)/Bi_(12)O_(17)Cl_(2)with an optimized CuFe_(2)O_(4)content(1.0 wt.%)reached 93.0%within 30 min.The capture experiments of active species confirmed that the hydroxyl radicals(·OH)and superoxide radicals(·O_(2)^(-))played crucial roles in photocatalytic BPA degradation process.Furthermore,the possible degradation mechanism and pathways of BPA was proposed according to the detected intermediates in photocatalytic reaction process.

Dear Editor,Unlike previous outbreaks of the mpox(previously known as monkeypox),which were localized in Africa and resulted in small numbers of infections due to limited human-to-human transmission,the current outbreak beginning in May 2022,has spread rapidly primarily through human-to-human transmission in non-endemic countries(Gong et al.,2022).As of 27 Sep 2023,115 countries and regions have reported cases of mpox to the World Health Organization(WHO),bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 90,618 including 125 deaths.Although the number of new cases has decreased in most WHO regions in the second half of 2022,the curves reveal a long outbreak tail in different subregions of the Americas.More worrying,106 mpox cases were reported in the mainland of China in June 2023.

Oxide-metal based nanocomposite thin films have attracted great interests owing to their unique anisotropic structure and physical properties.A wide range of Au-based oxide-metal nanocomposites have been demonstrated,while other metal systems are scarce due to the challenges in the initial nucleation and growth as well as possible interdiffusions of the metallic nanopillars.In this work,a unique anodic aluminum oxide(AAO)template was used to grow a thin Co seed layer and the following self-assembled metal-oxide(Co-BaTiO_(3))vertically aligned nanocomposite thin film layer.The AAO template allows the uniform growth of Co-seeds and successfully deposition of highly ordered Co pillars(with diameter<5 nm and interval between pillars<10 nm)inside the oxide matrix.Significant magnetic anisotropy and strong magneto-optical coupling properties have been observed.A thin Au-BaTiO_(3) template was also later introduced for further enhanced nucleation and ordered growth of the Co-nanopillars.Taking the advantage of such a unique nanostructure,a large out-of-plane(OP)coercive field(Hc)of~5000 Oe has been achieved,making the nanocomposite an ideal candidate for high density perpendicular magnetic tunneling junction(p-MTJ).A strong polar magneto-optical Kerr effect(MOKE)has also been observed which inspires a novel optical-based reading method of the MTJ states.

The self-charging concept has drawn considerable attention due to its excellent ability to achieve environmental energy harvesting,conversion and storage without an external power supply.However,most self-charging designs assembled by multiple energy harvesting,conversion and storage materials increase the energy transfer loss;the environmental energy supply is generally limited by climate and meteorological conditions,hindering the potential application of these selfpowered devices to be available at all times.Based on aerobic autoxidation of catechol,which is similar to the electrochemical oxidation of the catechol groups on the carbon materials under an electrical charge,we proposed an air-breathing chemical self-charge concept based on the aerobic autoxidation of catechol groups on oxygen-enriched carbon materials to ortho-quinone groups.Energy harvesting,conversion and storage functions could be integrated on a single carbon material to avoid the energy transfer loss among the different materials.Moreover,the assembled Cu/oxygen-enriched carbon battery confirmed the feasibility of the air-oxidation self-charging/electrical discharging mechanism for potential applications.This air-breathing chemical self-charge concept could facilitate the exploration of high-efficiency sustainable air self-charging devices.

Single-atom catalysts(SACs)provide an oppor-tunity to elucidate the catalytic mechanism of complex reactions in heterogeneous catalysis.The low-temperature water-gas shift(WGS)reaction is an important industrial technology to obtain high purity hydrogen.Herein,we study the catalytic activity of Pt1@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(2)(T=O,S)SACs,where one subsurface Ti atom with three T vacancies in the functionalized Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(2)(T=O,S)MXene is substituted by one Pt atom,for the low-temperature show that Pt1@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(2)provides an excellent platform for the WGS reaction by its bowl-shaped vacancy derived from the Pt1 single atom and three T defects surrounding it.Especially,Pt1@Ti_(3)C_(2)S_(2)SAC has higher catalytic performance for the WGS reaction,due to the weaker electronegativity of the S atom than the O atom,which significantly reduces the energy barrier of H*migration in the WGS reaction,which is often the rate-determining step.In the most favorable redox mechanism of the WGS reaction on Pt1@Ti_(3)C_(2)S_(2),the rate-determining step is the dissociation of OH*into O*and H*with the energy barrier as low as 1.12 eV.These results demonstrate that Pt1@Ti_(3)C_(2)S_(2)is promising in the application of MXenes for low-temperature WGS reactions.

Rock joint detection from borehole imaging logs using a convolutional neural networks model

To map the rock joints in the underground rock mass， a method was proposed to semi-automatically detect the rock joints from borehole imaging logs using a deep learning algorithm. First， 450 images containing rock joints were selected from borehole ZKZ01 in the Rumei hydropower station. These images were labeled to establish ground truth which was subdivided into training， validation， and testing data. Second， the YOLO v2 model with optimal parameter settings was constructed. Third， the training and validation data were used for model training， while the test data was used to generate the Precision-Recall curve for prediction evaluation. Fourth， the trained model was applied to a new borehole ZKZ02 to verify the feasibility of the model. There were 12 rock joints detected from the selected images in borehole ZKZ02 and four geometric parameters for each rock joint were determined by sinusoidal curve fitting. The average precision of the trained model reached 0.87.

Objective:To observe the clinical effects of Jianpi Fuzheng Decoction in patients with gastric cancer and cancer-related fatigue(CRF).Methods:Using the random number table method as a reference,68 cases of gastric CRF were randomly divided into two groups.One group served as the control group and received basic treatment,while the other was the observation group.The observation group,in addition to the control group’s treatment,received Jianpi Fuzheng Decoction.The clinical treatment effectiveness,fatigue scores,immune function indicators,and treatment safety were compared between the two groups.Results:The total clinical treatment effectiveness of the observation group and the improvement in immune function indicators after treatment were higher than those of the control group.The fatigue score after treatment was lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).No serious adverse reactions occurred during the treatment in either group.Conclusion:Jianpi Fuzheng Decoction can enhance the clinical treatment effectiveness for gastric cancer patients with CRF.It facilitates the acceleration of fatigue symptom improvement and immune function enhancement.The medication’s safety is guaranteed,making it worthy of promotion.
