Precise orbit determination of Haiyang‑2D using onboard BDS‑3 B1C/B2a observations with ambiguity resolution

The Haiyang-2D altimetry mission of China is one of the first Low Earth Orbit(LEO)satellites that can receive new B1C/B2a signals from the BeiDou-3 Navigation Satellite System(BDS-3)for Precise Orbit Determination(POD).In this work,the achievable accuracy of the single-receiver ambiguity resolution for onboard LEO satellites is studied based on the real measurements of new BDS-3 frequencies.Under normal conditions,six BDS-3 satellites on average are visible.However,the multipath of the B1C/B2a code observations presents some patchy patterns that cause near-field variations with an amplitude of approximately 40 cm and deteriorate the ambiguity-fixed rate.By modeling those errors,for the B2a code,a remarkable reduction of 53%in the Root Mean Square(RMS)is achieved at high elevations,along with an increase of 8%in the ambiguity-fixed rates.Additionally,an analysis of the onboard antenna’s phase center offsets reveals that when compared to the solutions with float ambiguities,the estimated values in the antenna’s Z direction in the solutions with fixed ambiguities are notably smaller.The independent validation of the resulting POD using satellite laser ranging at 16 selected high-performance stations shows that the residuals are reduced by a minimum of 15.4%for ambiguity-fixed solutions with an RMS consistency of approximately 2.2 cm.Furthermore,when compared to the DORIS-derived orbits,a 4.3 cm 3D RMS consistency is achieved for the BDS-3-derived orbits,and the along-track bias is reduced from 2.9 to 0.4 cm using ambiguity fixing.

Quasi-4-dimension ionospheric modeling and its application in PPP

Ionospheric delay modeling is not only important for Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)based space weather study and monitoring,but also an efficient tool to speed up the convergence time of Precise Point Positioning(PPP).In this study,a novel model,denoted as Quasi-4-Dimension Ionospheric Modeling(Q4DIM)is proposed for wide-area high precision ionospheric delay correction.In Q4DIM,the Line Of Sight(LOS)ionospheric delays from a GNSS station network are divided into different clusters according to not only the location of latitude and longitude,but also satellite elevation and azimuth.Both Global Ionosphere Map(GIM)and Slant Ionospheric Delay(SID)models that are traditionally used for wide-area and regional ionospheric delay modeling,respectively,can be regarded as the special cases of Q4DIM by defining proper grids in latitude,longitude,elevation,and azimuth.Thus,Q4DIM presents a resilient model that is capable for both wide-area coverage and high precision.Four different sets of clusters are defined to illustrate the properties of Q4DIM based on 200 EUREF Permanent Network(EPN)stations.The results indicate that Q4DIM is compatible with the GIM products.Moreover,it is proved that by inducting the elevation and azimuth angle dependent residuals,the precision of the 2-dimensional GIM-like model,i.e.,Q4DIM 2-Dimensional(Q4DIM-2D),is improved from around 1.5 Total Electron Content Units(TECU)to better than 0.5 TECU.In addition,treating Q4DIM as a 4-dimensional matrix in latitude,longitude,elevation,and azimuth,whose sparsity is less than 5%,can result in its feasibility in a bandwidth-sensitive applications,e.g.,satellite-based Precising Point Positioning Real-Time Kinematic(PPP-RTK)service.Finally,the advantages of Q4DIM in PPP over the 2-dimensional models are demonstrated with the one month's data from 30 EPN stations in both high solar activity year 2014 and low solar activity year 2020.

Pre-combustion mercury removal with co-production of hydrogen via coal electrolysis

Pre-combustion mercury removal via coal electrolysis was performed and investigated on a bench-scale coal electrolytic cell(CEC)systemically,and factorial design was used to determine the effect of different operating conditions(coal particle size,operating temperature,operating cell voltage,and flow rate of slurry)on the percentage of mercury removal,percentage of ash removal,and dry heating value change.The results showed that the operating cell voltage,as well as the interaction between operating cell voltage and coal particle size,are significant factors in the percentage of mercury removal.There is no significant factor in the percentage of ash removal and the dry heating value change,but the coal could be purified while keeping the dry heating value almost constant after electrolysis.A co-product of hydrogen could be produced during coal electrolysis with 50%lower energy consumption compared with water electrolysis.Meanwhile,a mechanism for mercury removal in coal was proposed.The facts indicate that coal electrolysis is a promising method for precombustion mercury removal.

Challenges and opportunities in rare cancer research in China

Cancer is one of the major public health challenges in China.Rare cancers collectively account for a considerable proportion of all malignancies.The lack of awareness of rare cancers among healthcare professionals and the general public,the typically complex and delayed diagnosis,and limited access to clinical trials are key challenges.Recent years have witnessed an increase in funding for research related to rare cancers in China.In this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of rare cancers and summarize the status of research on rare cancers in China and overseas,including the trends of funding and publications.We also highlight the challenges and perspectives regarding rare cancers in China.

The discovery of G-protein coupled receptor(GPCR)accessory proteins has fundamentally redefined the pharmacological concept of GPCR signaling,demonstrating a more complex molecular basis for receptor specificity on the plasma membrane and impressionable downstream intracellular cascades.GPCR accessory proteins not only contribute to the proper folding and trafficking of receptors but also exhibit selectable receptor preferences.

Adaptation of Ocular Opponency Neurons Mediates Attention-Induced Ocular Dominance Plasticity

Previous research has shown that ocular dominance can be biased by prolonged attention to one eye.The ocular-opponency-neuron model of binocular rivalry has been proposed as a candidate account for this phenomenon.Yet direct neural evidence is still lacking.By manipulating the contrast of dichoptic testing gratings,here we measured the steady-state visually evoked potentials(SSVEPs)at the intermodulation frequencies to selectively track the activities of ocular-opponency-neurons before and after the“dichoptic-backward-movie”adaptation.One hour of adaptation caused a shift of perceptual and neural ocular dominance towards the unattended eye.More importantly,we found a decrease in the intermodulation SSVEP response after adaptation,which was significantly greater when high-contrast gratings were presented to the attended eye than when they were presented to the unattended eye.These results strongly support the view that the adaptation of ocular-opponency-neurons contributes to the ocular dominance plasticity induced by prolonged eye-based attention.

Amorphous hybrid tungsten oxide–nickel hydroxide nanosheets used as a highly efficient electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction

There are more challenges for alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)via simultaneously expediting the electron-coupled water dissociation process(Volmer step)and the following electrochemical H_(2) desorption(Heyrovsky step).Hybrid amorphous electrocatalysts are highly desirable for efficient hydrogen evolution from water-alkali electrolyzers due to the bifunctionality for the different elementary steps of HER and optimal interactions with water molecules and the reactive hydrogen intermediates(Had).Herein,the synthesis of amorphous hybrid ultrathin(tungsten oxide/nickel hydroxide)hydrate(a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O)nanosheets on nickel foam(NF)for efficient alkaline HER is described.The structural and composition features of a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O are characterized in detailed.The resulting a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O/NF electrocatalyst with the synergistic effect of both hybrid components for the HER elementary steps shows greatly improved the activity and durability for the HER with a low overpotential of-41 and-163 mV at-10 and-500 mA·cm^(-2),respectively,a Tafel slope as low as-72.9 mV·dec^(-1),and long-term stability of continuous electrolysis for at least 150 h accompanying by inappreciable overpotential change in 1 M KOH.In the hybrid a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O,Ni(OH)_(2) and WO_(3) moieties are separately responsible for accelerating dissociative adsorption of water and weakening Had adsorption strength,which is beneficial to the improvement of the alkaline HER activity.

Tunable polarization holographic gratings obtained by varying the ratio of intensities of the recording beams

Polarization holography has been extensively applied in many fields, such as optical science, metrology, and biochemistry, due to its property of polarization modulation. However, the modulated polarization state of diffracted light corresponds strictly to that of incident light one by one. Here, a kind of tunable polarization holographic grating has been designed in terms of Jones matrices, and intensity-based polarization manipulation has been realized experimentally. The proposed tunable polarization holographic grating is recorded on an azobenzene liquid-crystalline film by a pair of coherent light beams with orthogonal polarization states and asymmetrically controlled intensities. It is found that the diffracted light can be actively manipulated from linearly to circularly polarized based on the light intensity of the recording holographic field when the polarization state of incident light keeps constant. Our work could enrich the field of light manipulation and holography.

Lead-free perovskites-based photonic synaptic devices with zero electric energy consumption

The von Neumann bottleneck is a critical limitation in synaptic devices. Therefore, artificial synaptic devices resembling biological neuromorphic synapses have been developed to overcome the von Neumann bottleneck. However, synaptic devices require voltages, which results in considerable energy consumption. Here, photonic synaptic devices with the vertical structure of indium tin oxide（ITO）/SnO2/Al2O3/CsBi3I10/Au are fabricated, which can work in the self-powered mode owing to the photovoltaic effect endowed by a vertical multilayer structure. Several fundamental synaptic functions, such as excitatory postsynaptic current, paired-pulse facilitation, short-term plasticity（STP）, long-term plasticity（LTP）, pulse-frequency-dependent plasticity, transition of STP to LTP, and the learning experience are emulated. Moreover, Morse-coded external light information is decoded by self-powered photonic synaptic devices. The results indicate that self-powered photonic synaptic devices based on lead-free perovskites exhibit great potential for efficient neuromorphic computing and optical wireless communication.

Carbon sink response of terrestrial vegetation ecosystems in the Yangtze River Delta and its driving mechanism

The carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems is influenced by global climate change and human activities.Using remote sensing data and land cover products,the spatio-temporal variation characteristics and trends of NEP in the Yangtze River Delta from 2000 to 2020 were analyzed based on the soil respiration model.The driving influences of ecosystem structure evolution,temperature,rainfall,and human activities on NEP were studied.The results show that the NEP shows an overall distribution pattern of high in the southeast and low in the northwest.The area of carbon sinks is larger than that of the carbon sources.NEP spatial heterogeneity is significant.NEP change trend is basically unchanged or significantly better.The future change trend in most areas will be continuous decrease.Compared with temperature,NEP are more sensitive to precipitation.The positive influence of human activities on NEP is mainly observed in north-central Anhui and northern Jiangsu coastal areas,while the negative influence is mainly found in highly urbanized areas.In the process of ecosystem structure,the contribution of unchanged areas to NEP change is greater than that of changed areas.
