A 23-year-old male patient was diagnosed as having a hypervascular pelvic mass by ultrasonography and magnetic resonance examination.A pathology puncture showed vitreous vascular Castleman’s disease.Because of concerns about tumor blood supply,embolization under digital subtraction angiography(DSA)was performed on the artery of the pelvic tumor before resection of the mass and surrounding rectum.Castleman’s disease of pelvic lymph node(mixed type,mainly hyaline vascular type)was confirmed pathologically from postoperative biopsy.Embolization of the blood-supply artery of a hypervascular mass should be considered before surgery is performed.

As a novel electric demulsification method,bidirectional pulsed electric field(BPEF)was employed to demulsify the surfactant stabilized oil-in-water(SSO/W)emulsion for oil/water separation in this work.The demulsification behavior,characteristics,and stages under BPEF were explored.It was discovered that BPEF drove SSO/W emulsion to move and form vortexes,during which the oil droplets aggregated and accumulated to generate an oil droplet layer(ODL).ODL subsequently transformed into a continuous oil layer(COL)leading to the demulsification and separation of SSO/W emulsion.The conversion rate of ODL to COL was defined and used to evaluate the demulsification process and reflect the coalescence ability and transformation efficiency of dispersed oil droplets into COL.Furthermore,the effects of BPEF voltage,frequency,duty cycle,ratio of pulse output time,and surfactant type and content on the demulsification performance were examined.The optimal values of BPEF parameters for demulsification operation were 400 V,25 Hz,50%,and 4:1.O/W emulsion containing anionic surfactant was apt to be demulsified by BPEF,nonionic surfactant took the second place and cationic surfactant was the most difficult.A high surfactant content was not conducive to the BPEF demulsification.This work is anticipated to provide useful guidance for oil/water separation and oil recovery from actual emulsified oily wastewater by BPEF.

Black carbon(BC)plays an important role in air quality and climate change,which is closely associated with its mixing state and chemical compositions.In this work the mixing state of BC-containing single particles was investigated to explore the evolution process of ambient BC particles using a single particle aerosol mass spectrometer(SPAMS)in March 2018 in Zhengzhou,China.The BC-containing particles accounted for 61.4%of total detected ambient single particles and were classified into five types including BC-nitrate(BC-N,52.3%)as the most abundant species,followed by BC-nitrate-sulfate(BC-NS,22.4%),BCOC(16.8%),BC-fresh(BC-F,4.5%)and BC-sulfate particles(BC-S,4.0%).With enhancement of the ambient nitrate concentration,the relative peak area(RPA)of nitrate in BC-N and BC–NS particles both increased,yet only the number fraction(N_(f))of BC–N particles increased while the N_(f) of BC-NS particles decreased,suggesting that the enhanced mixing state of BC with nitrate was mainly due to the increase in the ambient nitrate mass concentration.In addition,the Nfof BC-N decreased from 65.3%to 28.4%as the absorbing Angstrom exponents(AAE)of e BC increased from 0.75 to 1.45,which indicated the reduction of light absorption ability of aged BC particles with the enhanced formation of BC-N particles.The results of this work indicated a change in the mixing state of BC particles due to the dominance of nitrate in PM_(2.5),which also influenced the optical properties of aged BC particles.

Influences of regeneration atmospheres on structural transformation and renderability of fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst

The regeneration of fluidized catalytic cracking(FCC)catalysts is an essential process in petroleum processing.The current study focused the regeneration reaction characteristics of spent fluidized catalytic cracking catalyst(SFCC)at different atmospheres with influences on pore evolution and activity,for a potential way to reduce emission,produce moderate chemical product(CO),and maintain catalyst activity.The results show that regeneration in air indicates a satisfaction on removing coke on the catalyst surface while giving a poor effect on eliminating the coke inside micropores.This is attributed that the combustion in air led to a higher temperature and further transformed kaolinite phase to silicaaluminum spinel crystals,which tended to collapse and block small pores or expand large pores,with similar results observed in pure O_(2)atmosphere.Nevertheless,catalysts regenerated in O_(2)/CO_(2)diminished the combustion damage to the pore structure,of which the micro porosity after regeneration increased by 32.4% and the total acid volume rose to 27.1%.The regeneration in pure CO_(2)displayed low conversion rate due to the endothermic reaction and low reactivity.The coexistence of gasification and partial oxidation can promote regeneration and maintain the original structure and good reactivity.Finally,a mechanism of the regeneration reaction at different atmospheres was revealed.

Development of viable cell estimation method without sacrificing proliferation and functions of cells cultured on regenerative biomaterials is essential for regenerative engineering.Cytotoxicity and depletion of resazurin are critical but often overlooked limitations that hindered applications of resazurin in viable cell estimation.The present work found that cytotoxicity and depletion of resazurin depended on cell concentration,resazurin concentration and resazurin incubation time.A simple strategy which only allowed cells to incubate with resazurin during each measurement was developed to eliminate negative effects of resazurin.This strategy was verified by monitoring proliferation of MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts on poly(D,L-lactic acid)scaffold during a continuous 3D culture process for up to 21 days,comparing the accuracy with MTT assay which is a destructive assay with high sensitivity and accuracy and commonly used in regenerative engineering and comparing viability,proliferation and differentiation functions of MC3T3-E1,which were treated with/without this strategy for nondestructive evaluation.This method showed comparable linearity of standard curve and characteristics of growth curve to MTT assay.No major negative effects of this method on MC3T3-E1 viability and functions were found.Our work highlighted the importance of the concentration and incubation time of resazurin in designing application-specific nondestructive viability assay and would be helpful in improving the implanted medical devices as well as in regenerative engineering.

Robust online temperature estimation of a membrane-wall gasifier

The gasifier temperature is a key parameter in the operation of a slag-tapping entrained-flow gasifier.However,there is no effective method for measuring the operating temperature of a membrane-wall-lined gasifier.In this study,a novel robust method for estimation of the online temperature was developed for a membrane-wall gasifier and applied in an industrial SE gasifier.The industrial test results show that the method can estimate the gasifier temperature within 0.04 s,and its value can be reliably obtained.Based on the combination of bench-scale gasifier validation,commercial-scale gasifier operation experience,and the comparison of different simulation methods,the proposed method is accurate and reliable for measuring the operating temperature of a membrane-wall-lined gasifier.

Opposed multi-burner(OMB)gasification technology is the first large-scale gasification technology developed in China with completely independent intellectual property rights.It has been widely used around the world,involving synthetic ammonia,methanol,ethylene glycol,coal liquefaction,hydrogen production and other fields.This paper summarizes the research and development process of OMB gasification technology from the perspective of the cold model experiment and process simulation,pilotscale study and industrial demonstration.The latest progress of fundamental research in nozzle atomization and dispersion,mixing enhancement of impinging flow,multiscale reaction of different carbonaceous feedstocks,spectral characteristic of impinging flame and particle characteristics inside gasifier,and comprehensive gasification model are reviewed.The latest industrial application progress of ultralarge-scale OMB gasifier and radiant syngas cooler(RSC)combined with quenching chamber OMB gasifier are introduced,and the prospects for the future technical development are proposed as well.

针对含油污水处理领域中O/W型乳浊液净化分离困难的问题,构建了一种由超亲水/超亲油筛网膜、超疏水/超亲油海绵等特殊润湿性材料与离心力场相耦合的分离净化装置,并在验证装置分离净化效果的基础上,对处理条件和重要设计参数进行了考察。结果表明,经耦合分离装置处理后,不同来源O/W型乳浊液的水分离液纯度均达到99%以上,处理效果良好,且当处理温度为15~30℃,离心转速为1 800 r/min,材料轴心距为30 cm,处理时间为8 min时,装置处理效果最佳。温度升高使油、水和乳化剂间的互溶效果增强,促进它们的相互渗透和均匀分布,对系统的破乳分离过程不利;转速增大导致旋转液面的凹陷加深,油滴富集区位置与中心轴的距离增大,油滴与材料的接触减少,对破乳分离过程不利;当材料设置位置与油滴富集区位置接近时,油滴与分离材料的接触最多,分离效果最佳;延长处理时间虽然可以增强破乳分离效果,但过长的处理时间会导致处理成本增加。

Background Disruptive behaviors,including agitation,disinhibition,irritability,and aberrant motor behaviors,are commonly observed in patients with Alzheimer’s disease(AD).However,the neuroanatomical basis of these disruptive behaviors is not fully understood.Objective To confirm the differences in cortical thickness and surface area between AD patients and healthy controls and to further investigate the features of cortical thickness and surface area associated with disruptive behaviors in patients with AD.Methods One hundred seventy-four participants(125 AD patients and 49 healthy controls)were recruited frommemory clinics at the Peking University Institute of Sixth Hospital.Disruptive behaviors,including agitation/aggression,disinhibition,irritability/lability,and aberrant motor activity subdomain scores,were evaluated using the Neuropsychiatry Inventory.Both whole-brain vertex-based and region-of-interest-based cortical thickness and surface area analyses were automatically conducted with the CIVET pipeline based on structural magnetic resonance images.Both group-based statistical comparisons and brain-behavior association analyses were performed using general linear models,with age,sex,and education level as covariables.Results Compared with healthy controls,the AD patients exhibited widespread reduced cortical thickness,with the most significant thinning located in the medial and lateral temporal and parietal cortex,and smaller surface areas in the left fusiform and left inferior temporal gyrus.High total scores of disruptive behaviors were significantly associated with cortical thinning in several regions that are involved in sensorimotor processing,language,and expression functions.The total score of disruptive behaviors did not show significant associations with surface areas.ConclusionWe highlight that disruptive behaviors in patientswith AD are selectively associated with cortical thickness abnormalities in sensory,motor,and language regions,which provides insights into neuroanatomical substrates underl
