Objective:Although T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin-domain containing molecule-3(Tim-3)has been recognized as a promising target for cancer immunotherapy,its exact role in breast cancer has not been fully ***:Tim-3 gene expression in breast cancer and its prognostic significance were *** mechanisms were then explored in vitro by establishing Tim-3-overexpressing breast cancer ***:In a pooled analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database,Tim-3 gene expression levels were significantly higher(P<0.001)in breast cancer tissue,compared with normal ***-3 was a prognosis indicator in breast cancer patients[relapse-free survival(RFS),P=0.004;overall survival(OS),P=0.099].Tim-3 overexpression in Tim-3 low breast cancer cells promoted aggressiveness of breast cancer cells,as evidenced by enhanced proliferation,migration,invasion,tight junction deterioration and tumor-associated tubal ***-3 also enhanced cellular resistance to ***,Tim-3 exerted its function by activating the NF-κB/STAT3 signalling pathway and by regulating gene expression[cyclin D1(CCND1),C-Myc,matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP1),TWIST,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)upregulation,concomitant with Ecadherin downregulation).Lastly,Tim-3 downregulated tight junction-associated molecules zona occludens(ZO)-2,ZO-1 and occludin,which may further facilitate tumor ***:Tim-3 plays an oncogenic role in breast cancer and may represent a potential target for antitumor therapy.

This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the quality of care of diabetes in Shanghai,China.A total of 173235 patients with type 2 diabetes in 2017 were included in the *** of risk factors and intermediate outcomes were *** patients had a mean age of 66.43±8.12(standard deviation(SD))years and a mean diabetes duration of 7.95±5.53(SD)*** percentage of patients who achieved the target level for HbA_(1c)(<7.0%)was 48.6%.Patients who achieved the target levels for blood pressure(BP)<130/80 mmHg and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-c)<2.6 mmol/L reached 17.5%and 34.0%,respectively.A total of 3.8%achieved all three target levels,and the value increased to 6.8%with an adaptation of the BP target level(<140/90 mmHg)for those over 65 *** analysis identified the factors associated with a great likelihood of achieving all three target levels:male,young age,short diabetes duration,low body mass index,macrovascular complications,no microvascular complications,prescribed with lipid-lowering medication,and no prescription of antihypertensive *** conclusion,nearly 50%and one-third of the patients with diabetes met the target levels for HbA_(1c)and LDL-c,respectively,with a low percentage achieving the BP target *** percentage of patients who achieved all three target levels needs significant improvement.

Background:To investigate the associations of lens power with age,axial length(AL),and Type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM)in Chinese adults aged 50 and ***:Random clustering sampling was used to identify adults aged 50 years and above in urban regions of *** participants underwent a comprehensive ophthalmic examination including subjective refraction,autorefraction,and *** crystalline lens power was calculated using Bennett’s ***:A total of 4177 adults were included.A linear decrease in lens power was observed both with age and with AL,followed by a stop of lens power loss after the age of 70 or when AL≥25 mm,*** with Type 2 DM presented higher lens power(0.43 diopter(D),p<0.001)and thicker lens thickness(0.06 mm,p<0.001).In multivariate regression models,there was a positive correlation between lens power and Type 2 DM when age<75 years(p<0.001)or AL<25 mm(p<0.001)after adjusting for other factors,while no significant association was found in participants aged≥75 years(p=0.122)or with AL≥25 mm(p=0.172).Conclusions:The lens power in adults aged 50 and above exhibited two stages with age and with *** 2 DM caused an increase in lens power,which was not seen in participants aged≥75 years or with AL≥25 mm.

Dear Editor,Approximately 5 million children worldwide have type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM),and this number increases by 80000 people per year.1 Diabetic children have a younger age of onset and a longer survival period than adult DM patients;almost all of them develop diabetic reti-nopathy(DR)by the time their DM duration reaches 20 *** is the most common microvascular complication in DM patients and the lead-ing cause of blindness and vision loss in working-age people.

Purpose:To visualize the total contour of the crystalline lens with 25-MHz B-scan ultrasonography,and then to analyze age-related changes in lens ***:Healthy volunteers from 21 to 60 years of age were enrolled in this study.A 25-MHz B-scan ultrasonography device,AVISO Diagnostic Ultrasonography(Quantel Medical,France),was used to visualize the contour of lenses in *** image was frozen when the whole equator of the lens was clearly *** equatorial lens diameter(ELD) and axial lens thickness(ALT) measured from the ultrasonography image as well as the radius and curvature of the anterior and posterior lens surfaces were calculated with the measured ***:The studied values were successfully measured in 79 subjects composed of 40 males and 39 *** obtain satisfactory images,the Gain was always set from 95 to105 dB,the Dyn from 60 to 70 dB and the TGC to 0 *** mean ALT measured with 25-MHz B-scan ultrasonography was 4.178 mm,and there was a significant tendency towards increased ALT with *** mean ELD measured was 9.209 mm,and it increased by 0.600 mm/year(P<0.01).A negative correlation was found between the age and radius of the anterior lens surface,and a positive correlation was found between the age and curvature of the anterior *** were no statistically significant relationships between any studied values with ***:Twenty-five-MHz B-scan ultrasonography can be used to visualize the lens panoramically.

开展传染病的流行病学调查是我国传染病防治法中规定的重要工作内容。但我国目前传染性眼病防治体系对于当今高速发展、日趋复杂的社会模式,在数据采集、病因确定和时空分析等各方面都难以满足传染性眼病流行病学调查的需要。本文探讨了如何采用现代社会流行病学方法去明确个体因素、社会因素和结构因素对眼病流行的影响,采用空间流行病学方法去描述、定量和解释人群眼病流行的空间分布特点及发展变化规律,采用信息流行病学和数字流行病学方法去即时、高效地分析传染性眼病信息等,希望能为提升我国眼科流行病学的研究水平,完善我国传染性眼病防治工作提供新的思路。

我国《“十三五”全国眼健康规划（2016-2020年）》的核心工作目标是“眼健康”.目前,我国眼健康管理工作中存在着缺乏顶层设计和制度保障,财政投入不足;基层医疗机构、兄弟学科、社会力量在眼健康管理中的作用较为薄弱;眼健康管理信息化程度相对较低等问题.要使眼健康管理工作行之有效,必须针对性解决眼健康管理的可持续性、眼健康信息的完整性和眼健康支付的可行性这3个挑战性问题.建议眼健康相关医务工作者积极行动起来,努力加强眼病防治工作网络的信息化建设和服务能力建设,广泛开展眼健康促进工作,并切实进行人群眼健康管理模式的研究和实践.

随着慢性病逐渐成为我国人群健康的首要威胁以及大众对眼健康质量要求的迅速提升，眼病人群的流行病学研究模式必须尽快转变，即应开展大规模、多中心和前瞻性的人群队列研究，在具有不同性别、年龄、民族和生活习惯等的人群中广为验证；构建类似广义线性、非线性混合效应等新型分析模型，更好地分析环境外因和个体内因的交互作用；开展系统流行病学和空间流行病学研究，去解构眼病病因的多元化，更准确地推导病因，最终为特定患者的个性化精准预测、诊断和治疗提供循证医学的最佳证据。
