Unique and independent role of the GABAB1 subunit in embryo implantation and uterine decidualization in mice

Embryo implantation and decidualization are crucial for successful pregnancy,which include multiple genes and signaling pathways,while the precise mechanism regarding embryo implantation and decidualization has yet to be explored.The GABA which activates GABA_(A)or GABA_(B)receptors has been found playing an important role in early pregnancy.Here we seek to investigate whether GABA_(B)receptors participate in embryo implantation in mice.This study first characterized the spatiotemporal expression pattern of GABA_(B)receptors in the uterus during the peri-implantation period and found that GABA_(B1)expression was drastically upregulated in stromal cells on days 4e6,a period of embryo implantation and early stages of decidualization.Embryo delayed implantation and oil-induced decidualization models were further used to confirm that the GABA_(B1)was associated with embryo implantation and decidualization.We also found estrogen or progesterone had no directly effect on expression of GABA_(B1)in ovariectomized model.Because we were unable to detect significant GABA_(B2)which couples with GABA_(B1)to form whole GABA_(B)receptors,and the agonist and antagonist of whole GABA_(B)receptors had weak effect on the proliferation and differentiation of stromal cells as well,we excluded the possibility whole GABA_(B)receptors function,and concluded it should be non-classical signals of GABA_(B1)involving in embryo implantation and decidualization.Future studies should focus on investigating the roles and mechanisms of GABA_(B1)during embryo implantation and decidualization.

Fe_(2)O_(3)/Co_(3)O_(4)/NiO/NC nanosheets have been successfully prepared via a two-step annealing process of ternary metal coordination polymer. Attributing to the synergistic effects of the multiple metal oxides and the unique 2D nanosheet structure, the improved electrical conductivity and effective electron/ion transfer enables Fe_(2)O_(3)/Co_(3)O_(4)/NiO/NC electrode to exhibit excellent electrochemical properties with outstanding rate capacity and cycling stability. This work may pave the way to construct ternary metal oxide electrode material with an excellent electrochemical performance by introducing multiple metal oxides.

Change detection(CD)is becoming indispensable for unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),especially in the domain of water landing,rescue and search.However,even the most advanced models require large amounts of data for model training and testing.Therefore,sufficient labeled images with different imaging conditions are needed.Inspired by computer graphics,we present a cloning method to simulate inland-water scene and collect an auto-labeled simulated dataset.The simulated dataset consists of six challenges to test the effects of dynamic background,weather,and noise on change detection models.Then,we propose an image translation framework that translates simulated images to synthetic images.This framework uses shared parameters(encoder and generator)and 22×22 receptive fields(discriminator)to generate realistic synthetic images as model training sets.The experimental results indicate that:1)different imaging challenges affect the performance of change detection models;2)compared with simulated images,synthetic images can effectively improve the accuracy of supervised models.

Road silt loading(sL)is an important parameter in the fugitive road dust(FRD)emissions.In this study,the improved Testing Re-entrained Aerosol Kinetic Emissions from Roads(TRAKER)combined with the AP-42 method was firstly developed to quickly measure and estimate the sLs of paved roads in Beijing,China.The annual average sLs in Beijing was 0.59±0.31 g/m^(2)in 2020,and decreased by 22.4%compared with that in 2019.The seasonal variations of sLs followed the order of spring>winter>summer>autumn in the two years.The seasonal mean road sLs on the same type road in the four seasons presented a decline trend from^(2)019 to 2020,especially on the Expressway,decreasing 47.4%-72.7%.The road sLs on the different type roads in the same season followed the order of Major arterial∼Minor arterial∼Branch road>Express road,and Township road∼Country highway>Provincial highway∼National highway.The emission intensities of PM10 and PM_(2.5)from FRD in Beijing in 2020 were lower than those in 2019.The PM10 and PM_(2.5)emission intensities at the four planning areas in the two years all presented the order of the capital functional core area>the urban functional expansion area>the urban development new area>the ecological conservation and development area.The annual emissions of PM10 and PM_(2.5)from FRD in Beijing in 2020 were 74,886 ton and 18,118 ton,respectively,decreasing by∼33.3%compared with those in 2019.

RuO_(2)-PdO nanowire networks with rich interfaces and defects supported on carbon toward the efficient alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction

Interfacial engineering is a promising approach for enhancing electrochemical performance,but rich and efficient interfacial active sites remain a challenge in fabrication.Herein,RuO_(2)-PdO heterostructure nanowire networks(NWs) with rich interfaces and defects supported on carbon(RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C) for alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR) was formed by a seed induction-oriented attachment-thermal treatment method for the first time.As expected,the RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C(72.8% Ru atomic content in metal) exhibits an excellent activity in alkaline HOR with a mass specific exchange current density(jo,m) of 1061 A gRuPd-1,which is 3.1 times of commercial Pt/C and better than most of the reported nonPt noble metal HOR electrocatalysts.Even at the high potential(~0.5 V vs.RHE) or the presence of CO(5 vol%),the RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C still effectively catalyzes the alkaline HOR.Structure/electrochemical analysis and theoretical calculations reveal that the interfaces between RuO_(2) and PdO act as the active sites.The electronic interactions between the two species and the rich defects for the interfacial active sites weaken the adsorption of Had,also strengthen the adsorption of OHad,and accelerate the alkaline HOR process.Moreover,OHadon RuO_(2) can spillover to the interfaces,keeping the RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C with the stable current density at higher potential and high resistance to CO poisoning.

Tensor decomposition is an important research area with numerous applications in data mining and computational neuroscience.An important class of tensor decomposition is sum-of-squares(SOS)tensor decomposition.SOS tensor decomposition has a close connection with SOS polynomials,and SOS polynomials are very important in polynomial theory and polynomial optimization.In this paper,we give a detailed survey on recent advances of high-order SOS tensors and their applications.It first shows that several classes of symmetric structured tensors available in the literature have SOS decomposition in the even order symmetric case.Then,the SOS-rank for tensors with SOS decomposition and the SOS-width for SOS tensor cones are established.Further,a sharper explicit upper bound of the SOS-rank for tensors with bounded exponent is provided,and the exact SOS-width for the cone consists of all such tensors with SOS decomposition is identified.Some potential research directions in the future are also listed in this paper.

Chemometric identification of canonical metabolites linking critical process parameters to monoclonal antibody production during bioprocess development

A deeper understanding of the biological events occurring when bioprocess parameters changed will be of great value in improving the monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) production. Design of experiment (DoE) was applied to investigate the effect of process parameters (pH, temperature shift and dissolve oxygen (DO)) on protein titer. The key metabolites connecting the critical process parameters (CPPs) with monoclonal antibody production were identified by different chemometrics tools. Finally, the biological events of marker metabolites relating with titer improvement were concluded. pH and temperature shift were identified as CPPs that affect the target protein titer. A series of metabolites influenced by the altered CPPs and correlated with protein titer were screened by principal component analysis (PCA) and Pearson' correlation test. The marker metabolites and their pathways linking CPPs to target protein titer in different culture phases were summarized. Metabolomics and chemometrics are promising data-driven tools to shine light into the biological black box between the bioprocess parameters and process performance.
