Due to the wide applications of arches in underground protective structures, dynamic analysis of circular arches including soil-structure interactions is important. In this paper, an exact solution of the forced vibration of circular arches subjected to subsurface denotation forces is obtained. The dynamic soil-structure interaction is considered with the introduction of an interfacial damping between the structure element and the surrounding soil into the equa- tion of motion. By neglecting the influences of shear, rotary inertia and tangential forces and assuming the arch incompressible, the equations of motion of the buried arches were set up. Analytical solutions of the dynamic responses of the protective arches were deduced by means of modal super- position. Arches with different opening angles, acoustic impedances and rise-span ratios were analyzed to discuss their influences on an arch. The theoretical analysis suggests blast loads for elastic designs and predicts the potential failure modes for buried protective arches.

Objective： To investigate the mechanism of resistance to docetaxel in human lung cancer. Methods： Human lung carcinoma SPC-A1/Docetaxel cells were derived from parental SPC-A1 cells by continuous exposure to increasing concentration of docetaxel. The drug sensitivity was measured by MTT assay in vitro. The cDNA microarray identified a set of differentially expressed genes, and some genes were confirmed by RT-PCR. P-glycoprotein level was measured by flow cytometry analysis. Results： The results of drug sensitivity measured by MTT assay showed that SPC-A1/Docetaxel cells were 13.2-fold resistant to docetaxel and cross-resistant at varying levels to other drugs. The cDNA microarray results identified a set of differentially expressed genes, which showed 428 genes that were up-regulated and 506 genes that were down-regulated in SPC-A1/Docetaxel ceils, and some genes were confirmed by RT-PCR. Flow cytometry analysis suggests expression of P-glycoprotein （P-gp） was more abundant in SPC-A1/Docetaxel cells than in the parental cells and docetaxel selection reduces the apoptotic response. Conclusion： The results suggest that docetaxel selection led to changes in gene expression that contribute to the multidrug resistance phenotype.

AIM:To explore the clinical characteristics and prognosis of young patients with colorectal cancer patients in Eastern ***:A total of 1335 patients with colorectal cancer treated from December 1985 to December 2005at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine were studied *** patients were divided into two groups,a younger group(aged≤30 years)and an older group(aged>30 years),and comparison was made in the clinical characteristics and prognosis between the two *** test was used for data analysis of all categorical variables,and overall survival(OS)was calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method.A multivariate analysis was performed using the Cox ***:There were 42(3.1%)and 1293(96.9%)cases in the younger group and older group,*** analysis showed that the 5-and10-year OS in the younger group were 33.9%and26.1%,respectively,and those in the older group were60.1%and 52.2%,*** group had poor survival(χ2=14.146,P=0.000).Multivariate analysis revealed that age was not a dependent factor for prognosis(OR=0.866,95%CI:0.592-1.269,P=0.461).Stratified analysis indicated that in stageⅢandⅣdisease,the 5-and 10-year OS were 24.6%and14.8%in the younger group,and 40.4%and 33.3%in the older group,respectively,with a significant difference between the two groups(χ2=5.101,P=0.024).In the subgroup of radical surgery,the 5-and 10-year OS were 44.3%and 34.2%in the younger group,and69.6%and 60.5%in the older group,with a difference being significant between the two groups(χ2=7.830,P=0.005).CONCLUSION:Compared with older patients,the younger patients have lower survival,especially in the subgroups of stageⅢandⅣdisease and radical surgery.

BACKGROUND We studied the protective effects of Qingyi decoction(QYD)(a Traditional Chinese Medicine)against severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)-induced myocardial infarction(MI).AIM To study the function and mechanism of QYD in the treatment of myocardial injuries induced by *** Ultrasonic cardiography,hematoxylin and eosin staining,immunohistochemistry,qRT-PCR,western blot,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays,and apoptosis staining techniques were used to determine the effects of QYD following SAP-induced MI in Sprague-Dawley *** Our SAP model showed severe myocardial histological abnormalities and marked differences in the symptoms,mortality rate,and ultrasonic cardiography outputs among the different groups compared to the *** expression of serum cytokines[interleukin(IL)-1?,IL-6,IL-8,IL-12,amyloidβ,and tumor necrosis factor-α]were significantly higher in the SAP versus QYD treated group(P<0.05 for all).STIM1 and Orai1 expression in myocardial tissue extracts were significantly decreased post QYD gavage(P<0.001).There was no significant histological difference between the 2-aminoethyl diphenylborinate inhibitor and QYD *** SAP group had a significantly higher apoptosis index score compared to the QYD group(P<0.001).CONCLUSION QYD conferred cardio-protection against SAP-induced MI by regulating myocardial-associated protein expression(STIM1 and Orai1).

AIM: To investigate the effect of Qingyi decoction onthe expression of secreted phospholipase A2(s PLA2) in intestinal barrier ***: Fifty healthy Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control, severe acute pancreatitis(SAP), Qingyi decoction-treated(QYT), dexamethasonetreated(DEX), and verapamil-treated(VER) groups. The SAP model was induced by retrograde infusion of 1.5% sodium deoxycholate into the biliopancreatic duct of the rats. All rats were sacrificed 24 h post-SAP induction. Arterial blood, intestine, and pancreas from each rat were harvested for investigations. The levels of serum amylase(AMY) and diamine oxidase(DAO) were determined using biochemical methods, and serum tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α level was measured by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Pathologic changes in the harvested tissues were investigated by microscopic examination of hematoxylin and eosinstained tissue sections. The expressions of s PLA2 at m RNA and protein levels were detected by reverse transcriptase PCR and Western blot, respectively. A terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling assay was used to investigate apoptosis of epithelial cells in the intestinal tissues. RESULTS: Compared to the control group, the expression of s PLA2 at both the m RNA and protein levels increased significantly in the SAP group(0.36 ± 0.13 vs 0.90 ± 0.38, and 0.16 ± 0.05 vs 0.64 ± 0.05, respectively; P s < 0.01). The levels of AMY, TNF-α and DAO in serum were also significantly increased(917 ± 62 U/L vs 6870 ± 810 U/L, 59.7 ± 14.3 ng/L vs 180.5 ± 20.1 ng/L, and 10.37 ± 2.44 U/L vs 37.89 ± 5.86 U/L, respectively; P s < 0.01). The apoptosis index of intestinal epithelial cells also differed significantly between the SAP and control rats(0.05 ± 0.02 vs 0.26 ± 0.06; P < 0.01).
