Manipulating the Phase Transition Behavior of Dual Temperature-Responsive Block Copolymers by Adjusting Composition and Sequence

Temperature-responsive polymers have garnered significant attention due to their ability to respond to external *** this work,dual temperature-responsive block copolymers are synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization(RAFT)polymerization utilizing zwitterionic monomer methacryloyl ethyl sulfobetaine(SBMA) and N-isopropyl acrylamide(NIPAAm) as *** thermal responsive behaviors can be easily modulated by incorporating additional hydrophobic monomer benzyl acrylate(BN) or hydrophilic monomer acrylic acid(AA),adjusting concentration or pH,or varying the degree of polymerization of the block chain *** cloud points of the copolymers are determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometry,and these copolymers exhibit both controlled upper and lower critical solu bility temperatures(LCST and UCST) in aqueous *** study analyzes and summarizes the influencing factors of dual temperature responsive block copolymers by exploring the effects of various conditions on the phase transition temperature of temperature-sensitive polymers to explore the relationship between their properties and environment and structure to make them more selective in terms of temperature application range and regulation *** is very interesting that the introduction of poly-acrylic acid(PAA) segments in the middle of di-block copolymer PSBMA_(55)-b-PNIPAAm_(80) to form PSBMA_(55)-b-PAA_(x)-b-PNIPAAm_(80) results in a reversal of temperature-responsive behaviors from 'U'(LCST UCST) type,while the copolymer PSBMA_(55)-b-P(NIPAAm_(80)-co-AA_(x)) *** work provides a clue for tuning the phase transition behavior of polymers for manufacture of extreme smart materials.

Discovery of the choristodere Hyphalosaurus baitaigouensis from the Lower Cretaceous Jiufotang Formation of western Liaoning,China and its paleobiogeographic significance

The water-living reptile genus Hyphalosaurus was previously discovered in the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation bearing the middle Jehol Biota in western Liaoning,*** complete skeletons of Hyphalosaurus are reported for the first time from the Jiufotang Formation bearing the late Jehol Biota at two sites in western *** show the typical characteristics of Hyphalosaurus baitaigouensis in terms of the contact between some cranial bones and the number of cervical and dorsal vertebrae,and therefore are assigned to *** discovery extends the stratigraphic range of this species from the Yixian Formation to the overlying Jiufotang *** paper further briefly compares the main characteristics of the two skeletons,summarizes the temporal and spatial distribution of Hyphalosaurus,and discusses the palaeogeographic evolution of western Liaoning at the middle and late Jehol Biota stages based on the aquatic habits of Hyphalosaurus and the geological background of western *** analytical results show that the volcanic downwarped lakes,with distinct geographical divisions in western Liaoning during the deposition of the Yixian Formation,had not completely disappeared till the deposition of the Jiufotang *** palaeo-lake in the Fuxin-Yixian Basin underwent the process of generation,expansion and shrinkage during the depositional period of the Yixian Formation and finally merged into a large *** palaeo-Dalinghe River,which connected the main basins in western Liaoning during the depositional period of the Jiufotang Formation,was formed simultaneously.

Neuronal firing in the globus pallidus internus and the ventrolateral thalamus related to parkinsonian motor symptoms

Background It has been proposed that parkinsonian motor signs result from hyperactivity in the output nucleus of the basal ganglia, which suppress the motor thalamus and cortical areas. This study aimed to explore the neuronal activity in the globus pallidus internus （GPi） and the ventrolateral thalamic nuclear group （ventral oral posterior/ventral intermediate, Vop/Vim） in patients with Parkinson＇s disease （PD）. Methods Twenty patients with PD who underwent neurosurgery were studied. Microelectrode recording was performed in the GPi （n=10） and the Vop/Vim （n=10） intraoperatively. Electromyography （EMG） contralateral to the surgery was simultaneously performed. Single unit analysis was carried out. The interspike intervals （ISI） and coefficient of variation （CV） of ISI were calculated. Histograms of ISI were constructed. A unified Parkinson＇s disease rating scale （UPDRS） was used to assess the clinical outcome of surgery. Results Three hundred and sixty-three neurons were obtained from 20 trajectories. Of 175 GPi neurons, there were 15.4% with tremor frequency, 69.2% with tonic firing, and 15.4% with irregular discharge. Of 188 thalamic neurons, there were 46.8% with tremor frequency, 22.9% with tonic firing, and 30.3% with irregular discharge. The numbers of three patterns of neuron in GPi and Vop/Vim were significantly different （P 〈0.001）. ISI analysis revealed that mean firing rate of the three patterns of GPi neurons was （80.9±63.9） Hz （n=78）, which was higher than similar neurons with 62.9 Hz in a normal primate. For the Vop/Vim group, ISI revealed that mean firing rate of the three patterns of neurons （n=95） was （23.2±17.1） Hz which was lower than similar neurons with 30 Hz in the motor thalamus of normal primates. UPDRS indicated that the clinical outcome of pallidotomy was （64.3±29.5）%, （83.4±19.1）% and （63.4±36.3）%, and clinical outcome of thalamotomy was （92.2±12.9）%, （68.0±25.2）% and （44.3±7.2）% for tremor, rigidity and bradykinesia, respectively. Privacy-Preserving Frank-Wolfe on Shuffle Model

In this paper,we design the differentially private variants of the classical Frank-Wolfe algorithm with shuffle model in the optimization of machine *** weak assumptions and the generalized linear loss(GLL)structure,we propose a noisy Frank-Wolfe with shuffle model algorithm(NoisyFWS)and a noisy variance-reduced Frank-Wolfe with the shuffle model algorithm(NoisyVRFWS)by adding calibrated laplace noise under shuffling scheme in thel_(p)(p∈[1,2])-case,and study their privacy as well as utility guarantees for the H?lder smoothness *** particular,the privacy guarantees are mainly achieved by using advanced composition and privacy amplification by *** utility bounds of the Noisy FWS and NoisyVRFWS are analyzed and obtained the optimal excess population risksO(n-(1+α/4α+log(d)√log(1/δ)/n∈and O(n-1+α/4α+log(d)√log1(+δ)/n^(2)∈with gradient complexity O(n(1+α)^(2)/4α^(2)forα∈[1/√3,1].It turns out that the risk rates under shuffling scheme are a nearly-dimension independent rate,which is consistent with the previous work in some *** addition,there is a vital tradeoff between(α,L)-Holder smoothness GLL and the gradient *** linear gradient complexity O(n)is showed by the parameterα=1.

Learning topological defects formation with neural networks in a quantum phase transition

Neural networks possess formidable representational power,rendering them invaluable in solving complex quantum many-body *** they excel at analyzing static solutions,nonequilibrium processes,including critical dynamics during a quantum phase transition,pose a greater challenge for neural *** address this,we utilize neural networks and machine learning algorithms to investigate time evolutions,universal statistics,and correlations of topological defects in a one-dimensional transverse-field quantum Ising ***,our analysis involves computing the energy of the system during a quantum phase transition following a linear quench of the transverse magnetic field *** excitation energies satisfy a power-law relation to the quench rate,indicating a proportional relationship between the excitation energy and the kink ***,we establish a universal power-law relationship between the first three cumulants of the kink numbers and the quench rate,indicating a binomial distribution of the ***,the normalized kink-kink correlations are also investigated and it is found that the numerical values are consistent with the analytic formula.

Accelerating Asteroidal Period and Pole Inversion from Multiple Lightcurves Using Parallel Differential Evolution and Cellinoid Shape Model

Determining asteroid properties provides valuable physical insights but inverting them from photometric lightcurves remains computationally *** paper presents a new approach that combines a simplified Cellinoid shape model with the Parallel Differential Evolution(PDE)algorithm to accelerate *** PDE algorithm is more efficient than the Differential Evolution algorithm,achieving an extraordinary speedup of 37.983 with 64 workers on multicore *** PDE algorithm accurately derives period and pole values from simulated *** analysis of real asteroid lightcurves validates the method’s reliability:in comparison with results published elsewhere,the PDE algorithm accurately recovers the rotational periods and,given adequate viewing geometries,closely matches the pole *** PDE approach converges to solutions within 20,000 iterations and under one hour,demonstrating its potential for large-scale data *** work provides a promising new tool for unveiling asteroid physical properties by overcoming key computational bottlenecks.
