Mercury emission has become a great environmental concern because of its high toxicity,bioaccumulation,and persistence.Adsorption is an effective method to remove Hg^(0)from coal-fired flue gas,with adsorbents playing a dominant role.Extensive investigations have been conducted on the use of CuO-based materials for Hg^(0)removal,and some fruitful results have been obtained.In this review,we summarize advances in the application of CuO-based materials for Hg^(0)capture.Firstly,the fundamentals of CuO,including its crystal information and synthesis methods,are introduced.Then,the Hg^(0)removal capability of some typical CuO-based adsorbents is discussed.Considering that coal-fired flue gas also contains a certain amount of NO,SO_(2),H_(2)O,NH_(3),and HCl,the impacts of these species on adsorbent Hg^(0)removal efficiency are summarized next.By generalizing the mechanisms dominating the Hg^(0)removal process,the rate-determining step and the key intermediates can be discovered.Apart from Hg^(0),some other air pollutants,such as CO,NOx,and volatile organic compounds(VOCs),account for a certain portion of flue gas.In view of their similar abatement mechanisms,simultaneous removal of Hg^(0)and other air pollutants has become a hot topic in the environmental field.Considering the Hg^(0)re-emission phenomena in wet flue gas desulfurization(WFGD),mercury capture performance under different conditions in this device is discussed.Finally,we conclude that new adsorbents suitable for long-term operation in coal-fired flue gas should be developed to realize the effective reduction of mercury emissions.

Background Coronary artery calcification(CAC)is common in end-stage renal disease(ESRD)patients,and the extent of CAC is closely related to cardiovascular outcomes in ESRD patients.Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein(COMP),as a component of the vascular matrix,has been found to be an inhibitor of arterial calcification in basic studies.However,there is no clinical research on the correlation between COMP and CAC in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)patients.The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between serum COMP levels and CAC and cardiovascular events in MHD patients.Methods Serum COMP levels were compared between 54 MHD patients and 66 healthy people.MHD patients were then divided into three groups according to the tertiles of the concentration of COMP level and were followed up for major adverse cardiac events(MACEs),which were defined as a combined end point of new onset angina pectoris,nonfatal myocardial infarction,heart failure,coronary artery revascularization,hospitalization due to angina pectoris and all-cause deaths.The CAC score was calculated based on computed tomography scans.Results The serum COMP level in MHD patients was significantly higher than that in the general population[984.23(248.43-1902.61)ng/mL vs.219.01(97.26-821.92)ng/mL,P<0.01].Serum COMP levels were positively correlated with CAC(r=0.313,P=0.021)and serum parathyroid hormone in MHD patients(r=0.359,P<0.01).Linear regression suggested that after adjusting for age,fasting blood glucose(Glu)and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlc),CAC score was an independent predictor in the final model for COMP level(β=0.424,t=3.130,P<0.01).The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve showed that COMP≥994 mg/mL had 68.0%sensitivity and 72.4%specificity for the prediction of severe CAC[area under the curve(AUC):0.674,P=0.030,95%CI:0.526-0.882].After a median follow-up of 16 months(8-24 months),there was no difference in the incidence rate of MACEs between the upper,middle and lower serum COMP groups.Conclusions Our study found that MHD patien

In order to remove phosphorus element from steelmaking slag and decrease iron loss,malic acid was selected as the leaching agent to dissolve steelmaking slag.Firstly,the influences of different factors,such as malic acid concentration,slag particle size,temperature,liquid/solid ratio and stirring speed,on the leaching ratios of phosphorus and iron were studied.Then,the kinetics for the leaching process of phosphorus was analyzed.The results showed that the leaching ratios of phosphorus and iron increase significantly with increasing the malic acid solution concentration and liquid/solid ratio.When the concentration of malic acid solution increases up to 0.01492 mol/L,about 80%phosphorus can be dissolved,and iron leaching ratio is less than 17%.In addition,decreasing slag particle size can obviously increase the leaching ratio of phosphorus.However,temperature and stirring speed have no significant effect on the dissolution of phosphorus and iron.The leaching kinetics of phosphorus follows the unreacted shrinking core model.Diffusion through product layer is the rate-limiting step of the leaching process,and the corresponding apparent activation energy is determined to be 3.32 kJ/mol.Finally,a semi-empirical kinetic equation was established.

BACKGROUND Liver infarction is a rare necrotic lesion due to the dual blood supply consisting of the hepatic artery and portal vein.The absence of specific clinical manifestations and imaging appearances usually leads to misdiagnosis and poor prognosis.Thus,the precise diagnosis of liver infarction always requires imaging studies,serum studies,and possible liver biopsy.CASE SUMMARY We report a case of 31-year-old man who developed a huge liver infarction.Persistent right upper abdominal pain and intermittent fever were the main symptoms in this patient.Computed tomography revealed a huge irregular lesion with a maximum diameter of 12.7 cm in the right lobe of the liver.Threedimensional reconstruction was performed and no significant interruption of the main hepatic vessels was observed.The lesion was initially considered to be a malignant tumor with internal bleeding.Laparoscopic right hepatectomy was performed,and pathology indicated a rare liver infarction.The patient recovered well and was discharged on postoperative day 21.No fever or abnormal liver function were reported in the subsequent 6 mo.CONCLUSION In patients with a huge liver infarction,early surgical intervention may be beneficial.

Nowadays,a large amount of waste fabrics has brought huge environmental and resource problems,while the traditional recycling routes are downcycling with low efficiency and complex separation processes.Herein,we demonstrate a green and facile route to up-recycle waste fabrics(cotton-polyester blending or cotton fabrics)into a high-performance microwave absorber.In this design,an assistant coating was deposited onto the fiber surface of the waste fabric through the assembly of tannic acid-Fe^(2+)(TA-Fe^(2+)),which effectively catalyzed the polymer fiber into highly graphitized porous carbon fiber at high temper-atures.Meanwhile,the Fe nanoparticles from the reduction of Fe^(2+)ions were evenly embedded on the surface of porous carbon fibers.Consequently,the resultant porous carbon/Fe composites with hierarchi-cal microstructures displayed excellent microwave absorption performances.Typically,the microwave ab-sorber from waste polyester-cotton blended fabric could reach a minimum reflection loss(RL)of-50.5 dB at a thin coating thickness of 1.7 mm,and the minimum RL from waste cotton fabric absorber reached-47.1 dB at a thickness of 2.5 mm.This work provides a new idea to convert waste fabrics into high value-added microwave absorbing materials in a simple and environmentally friendly way,which will help reuse resources and protect the environment.

Potassium dihydrogen phosphate(KDP)crystals are important materials in high-energy laser systems.However,because these crystals are brittle and soft,machining-induced defects often emerge in KDP components.This study aimed to investigate the material removal mechanisms and characteristics of KDP during nanoscratching using Berkovich,spherical,and conical indenters.We found that KDP surface layers could be removed in a ductile mode at the micro/nanoscale and that dislocation motion was one of the main removal mechanisms.Removal characteristics are related to the stress fields generated by indenter geometries.The spherical indenter achieved a ductile removal mode more easily.The lateral force of nanoscratching increased with an increase in the normal force.The coefficient of friction(COF)followed the same trend as the lateral force when spherical and conical indenters were used.However,the COF was independent of the normal force when using a Berkovich indenter.We found that these COF variations could be accurately described by friction models.

The polyvinyl carbonate(PVC)polymer solid electrolyte can be in-situ generated in the assembled lithium-ion battery(LIBs);however,its rigid characteristic leads to uneven interface contact between electrolyte and electrodes.In this work,trimethyl phosphate(TMP)is introduced into the precursor solution for in-situ generation of flexible PVC solid electrolyte to improve the interfacial contact of elec-trolyte and electrodes together with ionic conductivity.The PVC-TMP electrolyte exhibits good interface compatibility with the lithium metal anode,and the lithium symmetric battery based on PVC-TMP electrolyte shows no obvious polarization within 1000 h cycle.As a consequence,the initial interfacial resistance of battery greatly decreases from 278Ω(LiFePO_(4)(LFP)/PVC/Li)to 93Ω(LFP/PVC-TMP/Li)at 50℃,leading to an improved cycling stability of the LFP/PVC-TMP/Li battery.Such in-situ preparation of solid electrolyte within the battery is demonstrated to be very significant for commercial application.

Modeling flow stress and grain size of GCr15 bearing steel at hightemperature deformation near end of solidification

Hot-core heavy reduction rolling is an innovative technology for continuous casting billet at the end of solidification.The deformation characteristics of GCr15 bearing billet were investigated over the temperature range of 1000-1300℃ with the strain rate of 0.001-10 s^(-1) by the Gleeble 3800 thermo-mechanical simulator.Firstly,the true stress-strain data are calibrated by the friction correction method to acquire accurate parameters near the solidus.Then,the Laasraoui-type constitutive model and dynamic austenite grain size model are established by the thermal compression results and corrosion experimental results,and the predicted values of the experimental interval are obtained by using the models.Meanwhile,the accuracy of models is verified by comparing the predicted curves with the experimental data.Last but not the least,the dynamic parameters between solidus and liquidus are predicted by the two models,and the difficulty of experimental collecting near the melting point is solved.
