Relation between preoperative hyperopia and surgical outcome in infantile esotropia

AIM: To evaluate the relation between preoperative hyperopia and surgical outcomes of infantile esotropia in patients younger than 24 months of ***: Medical records of patients who underwent bilateral medial rectus muscle recession for infantile esotropia between November 1, 2002 and December 1, 2011 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into two groups according to the degree of preoperative hyperopia. Group I had less than +3.0 diopter(D) of hyperopia and group II had between +3.0 and +5.0 D of hyperopia. Postoperative alignments were evaluated 1 wk, 3, 6 mo, and 1 y after surgery. Following the 1-year postoperative visit, patients were monitored yearly. Relationships between preoperative factors including hyperopia and postoperative outcomes were evaluated. RESULTS: Forty-six patients were included, with 33 patients in group I and 13 patients in group II. The preoperative mean refractive error was +0.88 D in group I and +3.45 D in group II. Surgical outcomes were not significantly different between groups at any postoperative time point examined. Cumulative probability of surgical success, prevalence of inferior oblique overaction, dissociated vertical deviation, and re-operation rate were not significantly different between ***: Preoperative moderate hyperopia(less than +5.0 D) did not affect the surgical outcome of infantile esotropia. Therefore, the surgical correction of esotropia should be considered when the angle of esodeviation is unchanged following hyperopia correction, even in children with moderate hyperopia.

Recently,as deep learning technologies have receivedmuch attention for their great potential in extracting the principal components of data,there have been many efforts to apply them to the Channel State Information(CSI)feedback overhead problem,which can significantly limit Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO)beamforming ***,since most compression models can quickly become outdated due to channel variation,timely model updates are essential for reflecting the current channel conditions,resulting in frequent additional transmissions for model sharing between *** particular,the heavy network models employed by most previous studies to achieve high compression gains exacerbate the impact of the overhead,eventually cancelling out the benefits of deep learning-based CSI *** address these issues,in this paper,we propose Lightweight CSI Feedback(LCF),a new lightweight CSI feedback *** fully utilizes autoregressive Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)to generate CSI predictions and uses them to train the autoencoder,so that the compression model could work effectively even in highly dynamic wireless *** addition,3D convolutional layers are directly adopted in the autoencoder to capture diverse types of channel correlations in three *** experiments show that LCF achieves a lower CSI compression error in terms of the Mean Squared Error(MSE),using only about 10%of the overhead of existing approaches.

Ribs and fans are interesting geometric entities that are derived from a given Bézier curve or surface based on the recent theory of rib and fan decomposition. In this paper, we present some of new geometric properties of ribs and fans for a Bézier curve including composite fans, rib-invariant deformation, and fan-continuity in subdivision. We also give some examples for the presented properties.

AIM:To investigate whether bile duct angulation and T-tube choledochostomy influence the recurrence of ***:We conducted a retrospective study including 259 patients who underwent endoscopic sphincterotomy and cholecystectomy for choledocholithiasis between 2000 and *** imaginary line was drawn along the center of the bile duct and each internal angle was measured at the two angulation sites ofthe bile duct *** values of both angles were added *** then tested our hypothesis by examining whether T-tube choledochostomy was performed and stone recurrence occurred by reviewing each subject's medical ***:The overall recurrence rate was 9.3% (24 of 259 patients).The mean value of sums of angles in the recurrence group was 268.3°± 29.6°,while that in the non-recurrence group was 314.8°± 19.9° (P < 0.05).Recurrence rate of the T-tube group was 15.9% (17 of 107),while that of the non T-tube group was 4.6% (7 of 152) (P < 0.05).Mean value of sums of angles after T-tube drainage was 262.5°± 24.6° and that before T-tube drainage was 298.0°± 23.9° in 22 patients (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:The bile duct angulation and T-tube choledochostomy may be risk factors of recurrence of bile duct stones.

Endoscopic mucosal resection （EMR） has been established as one of the treatment options for early gastric cancer （EGC）. However, there are many uncertain areas such as indications of EIR, best treatment methods, management of complications and follow-up methods after the procedure. Host studies on this topic have been carried out by researchers in Japan. In Korea, gastric cancer is the most common malignant disease, and the second leading cause of cancer death. In these days, EIR for EGC is widely performed in many centers in Korea. In this review, we will provide an overview of the bechniques and outcomes of EIR in Korea.
