It is well known that solid solution-strengthened alloy 617 and γ′ precipitation-strengthened alloy 263 have excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. Hyper-supercritical power plants work at temperatures above 700 ℃, and these superalloys are considered candidate materials for steam turbines components of these power plants. In this study, gas tungsten arc weldability of these superalloys was evaluated, and the effects of post- weld heat treatment （PWHT） on the microstructural characteristics and the mechanical properties of their weld metals were investigated. Scanning transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and electron probe microanalysis were utilized for the investigation. The experimental results confirmed that these weld metals had different characteristics in microstructure and mechanical properties. PWHT resulted in the precipitation of intergranular carbides, γ′ particles and an increase in tensile strength of these superalloy weld metals. Furthermore, fine γ′ particles, which were not detected in the as-welded metal of alloy 263, were precipitated after PWHT and those particles were the reason for the drastic increase in tensile strength.

BACKGROUND The cellular prion protein(PrPC),traditionally associated with neurodegenerative disorders,plays an important role in cancer progression and metastasis by inhibiting *** To investigate the influence of PrPC expression in cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)on patient outcomes following surgical *** Patients who underwent curative surgical resection for either intrahepatic or hilar CCA were enrolled in this retrospective *** on the immunohistochemical staining results of the surgical specimens,patients were categorized into two groups:The low PrPC group(negative or 1+)and the high PrPC group(2+or 3+).Survival analyses,including overall survival and recurrence-free survival,were conducted using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank *** In total,seventy-six patients diagnosed with CCA(39 with intrahepatic and 37 with hilar CCA)underwent curative hepatectomy from January 2011 to November *** these patients,38(50%)demonstrated high PrPC expression,whereas the remaining 38(50%)showed low expression of *** a median follow-up period of 31.2 months(range:1 to 137 months),the high PrPC group had a significantly shorter median overall survival than the low PrPC group(40.4 months vs 137.9 months,respectively;P=0.041).Moreover,the high PrPC group had a significantly shorter median recurrence-free survival than the low PrPC group(13.3 months vs 23.8 months,respectively;P=0.026).CONCLUSION PrPC expression is significantly associated with early recurrence and decreased survival period in CCA patients following surgical ***,PrPC may be used as a prognostic factor in treatment planning.

All-solid-state batteries(ASSBs)are pursued due to their potential for better safety and high energy ***,the energy density of the cathode for ASSBs does not seem to be satisfactory due to the low utilization of active materials(AMs)at high *** small amount of solid electrolyte(SE)powder in the cathode,poor electrochemical performance is often observed due to contact loss and non-homogeneous distribution of AMs and SEs,leading to high tortuosity and limitation of lithium and electron transport ***,we propose a novel cathode design that can achieve high volumetric energy density of 1258 Wh L^(-1)at high AM content of 85 wt%by synergizing the merits of AM@SE core–shell composite particles with conformally coated thin SE shell prepared from mechanofusion process and small SE *** core–shell structure with an intimate and thin SE shell guarantees high ionic conduction pathway while unharming the electronic *** addition,small SE particles play the role of a filler that reduces the packing porosity in the cathode composite electrode as well as between the cathode and the SE separator *** systematic demonstration of the optimization process may provide understanding and guidance on the design of electrodes for ASSBs with high electrode density,capacity,and ultimately energy density.

The work investigates influence of the electrolyte conductivity on the onset of partial contact glow discharge electrolysis(CGDE)in a water *** current density(CCD)and breakdown voltage were measured together with in situ observation of hydrogen bubble behavior,whose influence has not been focused *** a fixed current during normal electrolysis,hydrogen coalescence adjacent to cathode surface was invigorated at a lower *** analyses elucidated the hydrogen coalescence characteristics by quantifying size and population of detached hydrogen *** CCD increased about 104% within given range of conductivity(11.50-127.48 mS·cm^(-1))due to impaired bubble coalescence,which delays hydrogen film formation on the ***,decreasing trend of breakdown voltage was measured with increased conductivity showing maximum drop of 74%.It is concluded that onset of partial CGDE is directly affected by hydrodynamic bubble behaviors,whereas the electrolyte conductivity affects the bubble formation characteristics adjacent to cathode electrode.

Seismic hazard levels lower than those for design of new buildings have been permitted for seismic evaluation and retrofi t of existing buildings due to the relatively short remaining lifespans. The seismic hazard reduction enables costeff ective seismic evaluation and retrofi t of existing buildings with limited structural capacity. The current study proposes seismic hazard reduction factors for Korea, one of low to moderate seismicity regions. The seismic hazard reduction factors are based on equal probabilities of non-exceedance within diff erent remaining building lifespans. A validation procedure is proposed to investigate equality of seismic risk in terms of ductility-based limit states using seismic fragility assessment of nonlinear SDOF systems, of which retrofi t demands are determined by the displacement coeffi cient method of ASCE 41-13 for diff erent target remaining building lifespans and corresponding reduced design earthquakes. Validation result shows that the use of seismic hazard reduction factors can be permitted in conjunction with appropriate lower bounds of the remaining building lifespans.

Radiation therapy for extrahepatic bile duct cancer: Current evidences and future perspectives

Extrahepatic bile duct cancer (EBDC) is a rare malignancy that involves neoplastic changes extending from both hepatic ducts to the common bile duct. The treatment of choice is surgical resection, but the predominant pattern of initial treatment failure is locoregional recurrence. Accordingly, adjuvant radiotherapy has been administered after surgical resection based on these rationales. At this time, there is minimal evidence supporting adjuvant radiotherapy, because there have been no phase III trials evaluating its benefit. Relatively small retrospective studies have tried to compare outcomes associated with EBDC treated with or without radiotherapy. We aimed to review studies investigating adjuvant radiotherapy for resected EBDC. Because less than onethird of EBDC cases are amenable to curative resection at diagnosis, other locoregional treatment modalities need to be considered, including radiotherapy. The next aim of this review was to summarize reports of definitive radiotherapy for unresectable EBDC. Patients with advanced EBDC often experience biliary obstruction, which can lead to jaundice and progress to death. Biliary stent insertion is an important palliative procedure, but stents are prone to occlusion after subsequent ingrowth of the EBDC. Radiotherapy can be effective for maintaining the patency of inserted stents. We also reviewed the benefit of palliative radiotherapy combined with the biliary stent insertion. Lastly, we discuss the existing gaps in the evidence supporting radiotherapy in the management of EBDC.

The growing demand for energy-efficient solutions has led to increased interest in analyzing building facades,as buildings contribute significantly to energy consumption in urban ***,conventional image segmentation methods often struggle to capture fine details such as edges and contours,limiting their effectiveness in identifying areas prone to energy *** address this challenge,we propose a novel segmentation methodology that combines object-wise processing with a two-stage deep learning model,Cascade ***-wise processing isolates components of the facade,such as walls and windows,for independent analysis,while Cascade U-Net incorporates contour information to enhance segmentation *** methodology involves four steps:object isolation,which crops and adjusts the image based on bounding boxes;contour extraction,which derives contours;image segmentation,which modifies and reuses contours as guide data in Cascade U-Net to segment areas;and segmentation synthesis,which integrates the results obtained for each object to produce the final segmentation *** to a dataset of Korean building images,the proposed method significantly outperformed traditional models,demonstrating improved accuracy and the ability to preserve critical structural ***,we applied this approach to classify window thermal loss in real-world scenarios using infrared images,showing its potential to identify windows vulnerable to energy ***,our Cascade U-Net,which builds upon the relatively lightweight U-Net architecture,also exhibited strong performance,reinforcing the practical value of this *** approach offers a practical solution for enhancing energy efficiency in buildings by providing more precise segmentation results.
