Objective:Only a few numbers of studies have been published on the use of abobotulinumtoxinA(Dysport®)in idiopathic detrusor overactivity(IDO).This study reported the long-term follow-up of women with IDO who were treated with intravesical Dysport®***:Two hundred and thirty-six patients with IDO who had failed first-line conservative and antimuscarinic therapy received 500-900 units of Dysport®between April 2014 and July *** patients were followed up for 5 years after their initial injection and interviewed on the ***:A total of 236 women with IDO aged from 18 years to 84 years(mean±standard deviation:49.6±15.9 years)were included in our *** median follow-up time for patients was 36.5(range:10-70)months,and the median recovery time after injection was 18.5(range:0-70)months.A total of 83(35.2%)patients stated that they had subjective improvement of their symptoms whereas 84(35.6%)patients did not report any improvement in *** initial International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder mean score was 6.9(standard deviation 3.4).There was a positive association between the median recovery time and the components of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Overactive Bladder ***:In a sub-population of overactive bladder patients with IDO who have failed first-line therapy,a single intravesical Dysport®injection can resolve patient symptoms completely or reduce the symptoms to an acceptable level that can be controlled with antimuscarinics or re-injection on demands.

COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptance and Hesitancy among Pregnant Women: A Knowledge, Attitude, and Perceived Risks Survey in Lusaka, Zambia

Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease of the respiratory tract caused by SARS-CoV-2. Since its emergence, there have been increased rates of transmission and spread, morbidity and mortality which led to the development of COVID-19 vaccines to address the pandemic. This study assessed acceptance, knowledge, attitude, and perceived risks regarding COVID-19 vaccines among pregnant women attending antenatal care at two First-Level Hospitals in Lusaka, Zambia. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study that was conducted among 241 pregnant women using a questionnaire from August 2023 to October 2023 in two First-Level Hospitals in Lusaka district, Zambia. The collected data were analyzed using IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0. Statistical analysis was performed using a Chi-square test. The statistical significance was set at a 95% confidence level. Results: Of the 241 participants, 107 (42.7%) were aged between 24 and 34 years. Overall, 64.3% accepted the COVID-19 vaccines, of which 122 (50.6%) were already vaccinated. Further, 203 (84.6%) of the pregnant women had good knowledge, and 199 (82.6%) had positive attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccines. However, 58.5% thought COVID-19 vaccines were not safe and could cause infertility. Alongside this, 70.1% thought that COVID-19 vaccines were harmful during pregnancy. Having good knowledge of COVID-19 vaccines was associated with age (p = 0.049), education status (p = 0.001), and employment status (p = 0.001). Having a positive attitude towards COVID-19 vaccines was associated with education status (p = 0.001) and employment status (p = 0.001). Conclusion: This study found that most pregnant women had good knowledge, and positive attitudes, and the majority accepted the COVID-19 vaccine. Prevalence of Malnutrition among Hospitalized Pediatric Patients in a Tertiary Hospital in Jordan: Pilot Study

Introduction: Failure to thrive (FTT) occurs when a child’s growth falls below expected standards, typically due to inadequate nutrient intake. Factors include insufficient oral intake, poor nutrient absorption, and increased metabolic demands. Previous studies have shown high malnutrition rates in hospitalized children due to illness-related metabolic demands, decreased appetite, and inadequate intake. Our objective was to assess the growth and nutritional status of children admitted to King Abdullah University Hospital (KAUH) and identify the prevalence of undernutrition and associated factors. Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional cohort study was conducted at KAUH from July to December 2022. We included children aged 2 months to 16 years, excluding those with conditions altering growth parameters. Data were collected through pediatric data sheets, physical examinations, and laboratory tests. Anthropometric measurements were taken, and growth was assessed using CDC growth charts. Nutritional anemia was defined as hemoglobin 16. Results: A total of 111 patients were included (56.8% male, median age 65 months). Most patients had normal height (82%) and weight (86.5%) upon admission. However, 14.4% were stunted, 11.7% were underweight, 14.4% were overweight, and 3.6% were obese. Growth impairment correlated with higher anemia rates (p = 0.042). Nutritional anemia was present in 12% of patients. No significant relation was found between breastfeeding history and growth retardation, but maternal perception of malnutrition correlated well with actual malnutrition. Conclusion: Our study found a malnutrition prevalence of 19.8%, highlighting the need for systematic nutritional screening in hospitalized children. The study’s limitations include its small sample size and specific patient population, suggesting the need for larger, multicenter studies for more generalizable results.

Dissemination of carbapenem-non-susceptible Acinetobacter baumannii isolates collected from educational hospitals in Qazvin province of Iran

Background:Acinetobacter baumannii(***)is known as an opportunistic pathogen related to health-care-associated infection that has a high antibiotic resistance potential,notably against carbapenems that are widely used to combat *** *** study aimed to detect oxacillin-hydrolyzing(OXA)carbapenemases and metallo-β-lactamases(MBL)among carbapenem-resistant *** isolated strains and to determine their clonal relationship by repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR(rep-PCR).Methods:In the present study,a total of 211 non-repetitive isolates of *** were collected from Qazvin educational hospitals(2016–2017).The disk diffusion method was used to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility of studied strains,followed by the detection of MBL and OXA-type genes using polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and sequencing *** rep-PCR method assessed the clonal relationship of carbapenem-non-susceptible *** ***:The obtained results showed that 87.2%and 86.7%of isolates were non-susceptible to imipenem and *** blaOXA-24(93.5%)was the most frequent gene,followed by the blaOXA-23(4.34%),blaIMP-1(1.63%),and blaVIM-1(0.54%).Meanwhile,blaOXA-58 and blaOXA-143 genes were not found.81.5%and 66.1%of isolates contained ISAba1 upstream of the blaOXA-23 and blaOXA-58 genes,***-PCR results revealed the carbapenem non-susceptible isolates belonged to three distinct clones:A 171(81%),B 34(16.1%),and C 6(2.8%).Conclusions:The results indicated a high prevalence of carbapenem-non-susceptible ***,with the emergence of the blaOXA-24 gene as the most common gene and the notable prevalence of MBL *** results revealed the need for appropriate therapeutic and infection control strategies and monitoring susceptibility patterns for controlling *** infections.

A new empirical chart for rockburst analysis in tunnelling:Tunnel rockburst classification(TRC)

Rockburst is defined as a phenomenon with immediate dynamic instability under excavation unloading conditions of deep or high geostress *** knowledge and lack of characterizing information prevent engineers and experts from achieving appropriate prediction results related to the rockburst *** this study,a data set including 220 rockburst instances was collected for rockburst classification via the geostatistical *** update of the 2D graph,the tunnel rockburst classification(TRC)chart,was introduced based on analysing three indicators,namely,elastic energy index(Wet),tangential stress in rock mass(σ_(0)),and uniaxial compressive strength(σ_(c)).Distribution and correlation of data were drawn on 2D plot,and the boundaries of rockburst were distinguished according to the achieved interpolate points by kriging ***,the validation phase was performed using an additional set of 28 case histories obtained from several projects around the *** results showed that the TRC chart with an average error percentage of 3.6%in the prediction of rockburst had a significant and effective implementation in comparison to the exiting heuristic *** the initial character of the prediction,the described chart may be a helpful tool in the first steps of design and construction.
