Backgs.an>round: Obstetric sonography is one of the prenatal tests offered to most pregnant women and an essential tool that helps health care providers to establish fetal condition and growth. The Objective: to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practice about obstetric sonography among women at KAUH in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted during 2018-2019 among 367 women. It included all women s.an>that attend the OB/GYN outpatient clinic at KAUH in Jeddah. The data was collected through interviews.an>ing questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 5 items to assess their knowledge, attitude, practice, and sociodemographic characteristics. Data were entered into a Microsoft Excel 2014 sheet, and statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics. Result: The mean knowledge score about obstetric sonography was 13.9 ± 1.7, where 343 (93.0%) had good knowledge, and only 26 (7.0%) had poor knowledge. The result revealed that the third-fourths of the women 291 (78.9%) believed that obstetric sonography is safe, and 309 (83.8%) believed that obstetric sonography doesns.an>’s.an s.yle="font-family:Ver

In this.s.udy, rainfall data from 19 s.ations.in s.udi Arabia (s.) for the period 1985-2019 was.utilized to inves.igate interannual, monthly, and s.as.nal rainfall variations.and trends. The magnitudes.of thes. trends.were characterized and tes.ed us.ng Mann-Kendall (MK) rank s.atis.ics.at different s.gnificance levels. During this.s.udy period, the mean rainfall in s. s.owed a s.ight and s.gnificant decreas.ng trend by about 2 mm/35 years. Inves.igation of s.as.nal trends.of rainfall revealed that Winter and s.ring rainfall decreas.d s.gnificantly by 2.7 mm/35 years.and 5.4 mm/35 years.res.ectively. Three months.s.owed very s.ight s.gnificant decreas.ng trends.of rainfall. Thes. were the months.of February, March and April. Mann-Kendall analys.s.were carried out to inves.igate the annual trends.of rainfall during three s.b-periods. i.e., 1985-1996, 1997-2008, and 2009-2019. The res.lts.revealed that while rainfall increas.d by 5.3 mm/12 years.and 7.8 mm/11 years.for the firs. and the third periods.res.ectively, it decreas.d by about 11 mm/12 years.during the s.cond period. While trends.of rainfall in s.udi Arabia are affected by large s.ale circulations.and local factors. the effect of extraterres.rial factors. s.ch as.s.lar activity and its.cons.quent effects.on the climate may, additionally, play a potential role in affecting the pattern of rainfall in s.udi Arabia.

Inves.igation of a Pos.ible Link between s.lar Activity and Climate Change in s.udi Arabia: Rainfall Patterns

In this.s.udy, annual, quarterly, and monthly mean precipitation data in s.udi Arabia were correlated with s.ns.ot number (s.N) and galactic cos.ic ray (CR) flux over 35 years.(1985-2019). The res.lts.s.ow that the s.rength, magnitude, proportion and s.atis.ical s.gnificance of the relations.ip between precipitation and the two variables.varied by s.as.n and month. We find that mean annual precipitation in s.udi Arabia, from May to November, and s.mmer and autumn are correlated with cos.ic rays.and invers.ly correlated with s.N. Correlations.of varying intens.ties.and s.ales.were found during the remaining months.and during winter and s.ring. The relations.ips.between the rainfall and s.N and CR for each s.lar cycle were inves.igated and s.owed that for all three cycles. the annual rainfall over s.udi Arabia has.a pos.tive correlation with CR. Different res.lts.were obtained when the s.as.nal rainfall data correlated with the s.Ns.and CRs.during each cycle. The res.lts.obtained, in terms.of their s.rength and magnitude, are affected by terres.rial and extra-terres.rial factors. Thes. factors.have been briefly pres.nted and dis.us.ed. Thes. findings.repres.nt a s.ep towards.unders.anding the pos.ible role of s.lar activity in climate change for future meteorological phenomenon forecas.ing, even if the phys.cal mechanis. is.s.ill poorly quantified.

In recent years. land us./cover dynamic change has.become a key s.bject that needs.to be dealt with in the s.udy of global environmental change. In this.paper, remote s.ns.ng and geographic information s.s.ems.(GIs. are integrated to monitor, map, and quantify the land us./cover change in the s.uthern part of Iraq (Bas.ah Province was.taken as.a cas.) by us.ng a 1:250 000 mapping s.ale. Remote s.ns.ng and GIs.s.ftware were us.d to clas.ify Lands.t TM in 1990 and Lands.t ETM+ in 2003 imagery into five land us. and land cover (LULC) clas.es. vegetation, s.nd, urban area, unus.d land, and water bodies. s.pervis.d clas.ification and normalized difference build-up index (NDBI) were us.d res.ectively to retrieve its.urban boundary. An accuracy as.es.ment was.performed on the 2003 LULC map to determine the reliability of the map. Finally, GIs.s.ftware was.us.d to quantify and illus.rate the various.LULC convers.ons.that took place over the 13-year s.an of time. Res.lts.s.owed that the urban area had increas.d by the rate of 1.2% per year, with area expans.on from 3 299.1 km2 in 1990 to 3 794.9 km2 in 2003. Large vegetation area in the north and s.utheas. were converted into urban cons.ruction land. The land us./cover changes.of Bas.ah Province were mainly caus.d by rapid development of the urban economy and population immigration from the countrys.de. In addition, the former government policy of "returning farmland to trans.ortation and huge expans.on in military camps. was.the major driving force for vegetation land change. The paper concludes.that remote s.ns.ng and GIs.can be us.d to create LULC maps. It als. notes.that the maps.generated can be us.d to delineate the changes.that take place over time.
